Episode 1: Kindergarten Kid
The Gems and the Monks were at the Beta Kindergarten, looking for any leftover Corrupted Gems that were captured and imprisoned by Jasper. Jack was tagging along with the mission. Jack and Peridot walk up to a cage on the cliff face. "We got one!" Jack shouts. The Gems and Monks arrived and ready for a quick battle. Jack summons one of his Jackbot to cut the rod out and allow the Gems and Monk to quickly fight. Soon, they managed to defeat the Corrupted Gem inside the cage. Garnet walks out with the gemstone in a bubble. "Man, it's kinda strange that Jasper would keep them in cages." Raimundo said. "Yes, however, we make sure that they are cared for in the stasis of the bubble. As long as they're in the bubble, they cannot hurt and they don't suffer. That's what Rose wanted." Garnet said as she sends the bubble away.
Peridot, Jack, and Steven find one more caged up gem. "Wow, I can't believe that these things used to be Gems." Peridot said. Garnet jesters the Gems and Monks to come over. "Be careful, this one is seems to be flighty." Garnet said. The Monks and Gems prepare themselves. Just when Garnet pulls one of the rods out, the Gem monster charges and collides with Garnet, knocking her out the way. "Garnet!" Steven said. The Monster runs as Amethyst tries to trip it up with her whip but gets dragged along for the ride. Pearl fires energy blast from her spear but with little success. The monster turns and managed to get Amethyst and Pearl to collide with each other. The monster then scales up the cliff and runs off. "Shoot, it got away." Raimundo said. "That is not good." Kimiko added.
Clay and Steven rushes over to the Gems. "You guys okay?" Steven asked. "We're fine, Steven." Pearl reassured Steven. "Man, that Gem sure is as fast as cheetah catching up to its prey." Clay said. Peridot was laughing her butt off "Man, that was terrible." Peridot said. "You do realize that it's harder than it looks." Pearl said. "Well then, how did you get outsmarted by that thing?" Peridot responded. "Well, if I recall, Garnet got tackled then Amethyst tried to use the whip to st-" Omi said as Kimiko cups Omi's mouth and causing him to muffle a bit. "We know, Omi. No need for a play by play." Kimiko said. "Yea, mistakes happen, even when you can see it in the future." Garnet said. Jack then got a crazy idea.
"Well, how about a bit of a bet, Peridot and I would try to hunt that gem monster down?" Jack said. "Go right ahead." Garnet said. Jack chuckles as he and Peridot began to march off when someone speak up. "Wait! I'm going to help too!" Steven said. This caught the Monks off guard. "You sure that is wise, Steven?" Clay said. "Yea, I mean, the monster might be a bit much for them to handle, I figured that they need some extra hands." Steven said. "Then our work here is done." Garnet said. "Wait wha?" Raimundo said. "You sure that's a good idea, Garnet." "Don't worry, they got time in the world." Garnet said. Steven nods as he rushes to catch up to Jack and Peridot. The Monks and Gems began to head out.
At Jack and Peridot, Steven caught up to them. "I see you are going to assist us, Steven." Jack said. "Yea, well, I figured that you guys might need some extra hands." Steven said. "Well, we really appreciate it, Steven. With your strength and our minds, that gem monster is going to have a bit of a fit." Peridot said. Peridot began to laugh triumphantly. Steven laughs as well but Jack wasn't laughing, he was all business. He quickly sees the Monster rushing towards them and uses his backpack copter to lift himself high enough to avoid it as it collides with Peridot and Steven. They quickly fell back down and got back up. "How did you…?" Peridot said. "Gotta keep an eye on your surrounding, Peri." Jack said. Peridot groans a bit as they follow the monster.
A bit later, Jack, Peridot, and Steven were seeing the monster looking at one of the injector hanging on the side of a cliff. "Hmm, looks like it might be attracted to shining thing." Jack said quietly. "Yea, seems like it." Steven added. "I think I got a good idea." Peridot said. "That would be?" Jack said. "Well, duh, it's simple, drop the injector onto it, BAM, knock out!" Peridot said. "That's…decently planned, Peri." Jack said. "However, I see one issue…you're still trying to improve your metal powers and it could backfire done incorrectly." "Pssh, I think I got this down pat." Peridot said as she began to focus on the injector and its legs. She focus and focus but then…one of the injector's leg fall off. The rest was still holding on to the side of the cliff. "Huh…strange." Jack said. "Maybe another leg would do the trick?" Peridot said as she focus on the injector some more. Another leg falls but the injector stays on the cliff. "Grr...Fall!" Peridot softly shouts. Two more legs fall but nothing happens. The Gem monster ventures off else where.
Jack was astonished on how it held up. "Huh, it must be really stuck in there." Jack said. Peridot was very angry. She rushes over it and began kicking it. "Fall, fall already!" Peridot said. Just then, the injector began to crack the wall. "Uh, Peri, Watch out." Jack said out loud. "Huh? Oh, right, thanks, Jack." Peridot said as she steps away from the shadow of the injector and kicks some more. Just then, a bunch of boulders land on top of Peridot. Jack and Steven rushes over to Peridot. "You okay, Peridot?" Steven asked. "I'm fine." Peridot said. Just then, the monster collides with Steven and Jack and dashes off. Peridot climbs out of the rocks and just as she began to chase down the monster, the injector finally fell off the side of the cliff onto Peridot. Thankfully, she didn't poof. "Ouch, I think we should revise our strategy." Jack suggested. "I think…you are right, Jack…Bleh…" Peridot said.
We are shown a bit of montage of Peridot's plans. One was a cannon from the injector. She tried aiming it at the monster but it failed. She hits it a few times and it fired finally, only for the recoil to send it backwards and causes it to slam Peridot to the cliffside…followed by a bunch of boulders landing on her. The next plan was basically dropping a boulder on top of the gem monster. It seemed foolproof…until the monster managed to scare them and make them fall off a cliff. The monster then pushes the boulder as It rolls over Peridot and carries her around the desert. Steven and Jack give chase and it ends when they reach a loop-de-loop sandstone. It reached to the top...only to fall down and smush Peridot. "Huh, You don't poof easily?" Steven asked. "Yea, that doesn't make sense, Garnet just squeezed you and you poofed. How are you not poofing right now?" Jack added. "Us Peridots are tougher than we look!" Peridot muffed.
Soon, it was night time. Peridot was busy making something while Jack was making stew for himself and Steven. "Alright, alright, THIS is going to work. This is going to be perfect." Peridot said to herself as we are shown a crude construction of the injector which quickly falls apart. Peridot groans "This is a waste of my time." Peridot said. She then walks over to Steven and Jack. "Man, your plans goes awry as much as mine." Jack said, trying to relate to Peridot. "Is that an insult?" Peridot said not amused. "No, no, I was meaning that sometimes my plans goes awry as well." Jack said, trying to clear the air. Peridot sighs. "I don't know if I can show my face as a failure." Peridot said. "I mean, I though it would be easy, capture that corrupted gem and be back by sundown. I thought it wouldn't be much of a challenge, but that thing…just keep besting me. No matter if I'm smart or if we try to use brute force, it just comes out on top." "Hmm…maybe we should try a different angle." Jack said. "What do you mean by that, Jack?" Steven asked. "I guess try to think like the monster. Try to get close to it." Jack suggested. "Sounds stupid." Peridot said. "Don't knock it till you try it. Hey, how about we make a deal?" Jack suggested. "What is it?" Peridot said. "If it succeeds, you and I should go on a date." Jack said with a smile. Peridot blushes a bit from that suggestion. She shakes off and stayed composed. "And if it fails?" Peridot asked. "I'll reveal what Project Morph and Rebirth to the Monks and Gems at the cost of making it a surprise. Additionally, I'll sit out for the next Showdown." Jack said. Peridot thinks a bit. "Alright, if it means to try it, we'll do it." Peridot said. Steven smiles a bit as they finished their meal.
The next day arrives as Jack, Peridot and Steven were behind a rock seeing the Gem Monster. Peridot was still a little uncertain about the plan. "Come on, a deal is a deal." Jack said with a smile. Peridot softly nods as she gets out and tries to think like a monster, shooting her tongue up in the air. It worked as the Monster approves of it and Peridot got close. However, she wasn't alone as Jack followed her and both Jack and Peridot got close. However, Peridot attacked the monster. The Monster retaliates and forces Jack to unsheathes his sword and they began to battle. Steven was shocked to see this but before things could get worse, Jack managed to impale the Monster with his sword while Peridot held onto the gemstone. This would result in the monster being poofed. Peridot lands faces first with the gemstone intact. "We...We did it!" Peridot said. "Heh, I told you it would work." Jack said. Just then, Garnet walks up. "Wait, you're here, Garnet?" Steven said rushing up to them. "We actually never left." Garnet said. Amethyst, Pearl and the Monks also appear. "We just though it would be interesting." Kimiko said. "More likely for humorous sakes." Amethyst admits. Garnet flashes her third eye from her visor. "Remember, future vision." Garnet quips.
Jack and Peridot looks at each other. They should've known that would happened. However, it still humbled Peridot. "I will admit, it was tougher than before but this gem monster was a great test to my skill and I appreciate the battle it gave us." Peridot said as she hands it over to Garnet. Garnet then bubbles it and send it back to the temple. Peridot looks at Jack. "So...how do you do this...date thing?" Peridot said. Jack chuckles a bit. "Just be yourself when I pick you up for our night out." Jack said with a smile. "Oh, so you two are going on a date?" Raimundo chirps in. "Well, it was part of a deal." Peridot admits. Jack nods as the iris focus on Peridot as she blushes a bit from admitting it. Well, that was a bit humorous. This also leads Jack and Peridot to finally begin their long awaited time of possibly dating each other. Like I said in the beginning, I wanted to form naturally and this was the right time for them to start dating. With that said, we will see the dating in a few episodes time and we'll see what the Heylin's plan would be for the future. The Gems and Monks are now riding high and things couldn't get any better.
