A/N: Hello everyone, I've got a few things to explain. I did delete A Neverending Dream earlier and now it's here again. Here's the thing I'm going to rewrite it, so consider the former story non canonical and nonexistent. I wasn't happy with how the story turned out. It felt like Dragon Prince season 4, a jumbled mess that didn't end up going anywhere. So I want to rewrite with more emphasis on the characters. I managed to integrate the Collective with the characters just fine so I don't know what went wrong so I'm going to try again.
It had been two months, two long months since Atlas.
Jaune opened the curtains as the early morning sun shined its raise upon him. Opening the door to the balcony and standing outside. Feeling the early morning breeze caress his skin.
It was still a strange feeling after these two months. Given that he had already experienced this phenomena once before, being on a world different from his own. In a place called Kyoto at the moment.
The organization Qrow was working for had set up this accommodation not just for Jaune, but for all members of both Team RWBY and Team JPNR and even the injured Winter Schnee, who was still recovering after the attack in Atlas. It had been a surreal experience living in this world, accommodating to the standards of it all. Qrow's partner Megumi Fushiguro was instrumental in getting them adjusted to the new world they had found themselves in.
From the culture, to culinary manners, Megumi taught them all. Some taking it in easier then others, Nora being a rather…difficult student in that way, while Weiss took to it without problem.
Speaking of the young heiress…
They had both found themselves in quite the predicament. Jaune looked over to the smaller bed inside his room, the one reserved for his young daughter Kara, who was still peacefully sleeping. His child, conceived across the multiverse by him and another version of Weiss, a much more…ruthless version who also happened to be the adopted daughter of a genocidal madman in charge of a powerful multiverse spanning organization known as the Collective out for…who knows what exactly.
It wasn't long ago that Jaune found out about his daughter and decided against all odds and dangers to become part of her life. Even taking her away from under the nose of the Collective when it became clear that the organization was about to attack Atlas.
And as the siege went on and Jaune brought her to safety…the unexpected happened. Little Kara had mistaken his world's Weiss for her mother…
It was an uncomfortable and uncertain they now found themselves in. And for the last two months things had been at best amicable and at worst downright awkward. Weiss was now forced to pretend and act like she was Kara's mother and she did so even though she half the time didn't know what to do, which Jaune admitted neither did he. But the effort was there and he appreciated that.
But that kiss….that kiss had lingered on his mind since that day.
What where they? That was something he did not know. Weiss was only acting the part of Kara's mother for her sake, she wasn't even three years old yet and the shock of suddenly realizing that there are two versions of her mother, Jaune didn't even wish to imagine what it would do to her. But the situation was still tense and hadn't gotten better in the two months they arrived in this new world.
Weiss needed time to understand what they where and he respected that, but the nagging feeling was still there. Unsure of what it was. He felt like he was being pulled in two directions. Did he truly still love Weiss all along? Or had his experiences with the other Weiss in her world and the result of that given him a weird way of looking at the situation.
And as for the revelation. The one that the leader of the Collective had told Weiss about…the one that said that he and Weiss Schnee where meant to be. In every world in the multiverse they where meant to be. Jaune didn't know what to make of it and he knew it made Weiss uncertain too.
A sudden knock on the door made Jaune snap out of his thoughts. He walked over to the door and opened it, being greeted with the stoic expression of Megumi Fushiguro.
"We need you in the dining hall. It's important. Meet us there in ten minutes" he spoke simply and without emotion in his voice. Jaune nodded to him and confirmed he'd be joining him soon.
Closing the door behind him, Jaune looked at the still sleeping Kara. Happily dreaming away without a care in the world. It brought a smile to his face. His dad was right, being a father changes everything. Changes your entire perspective.
The situation he was in was tense, complicated and uncertain. But for her sake. He knew it was all worth it.
