Sup, guys? Lighting Wolf here, back with another story, this one about Halo and Mass Effect. Enjoy the 800-Word chapter. I don't own Halo, 343, and a few others do.
The UNSC warship Invictus passed through the nebula… Each little portion of the ship had soldiers from the navy and marine corps… But the standouts were the UNSC ODSTS.
The ship carried but a small group, given their quarters upon the vessel, not just because it helped but because they knew well enough that the group was important. Especially for this mission at the end of the day which needed their skills.
"Status?" The captain questioned, crossing their hands behind their back.
"Within striking distance in 2 minutes… Going to need to be a hard mission, there are heavy troop movements along the drop zone." One of the crew said as the captain hummed.
"Gabriel? Wake them up… Tell them they have 2 hours… I'll brief them." He ordered as a flash of light emerged and then vanished from the bridge.
(In the HEV bay)
All of them knew even before the emergency lighting kicked in, it was obvious what had been going on.
"All ODST squads? Operation Blind Crossing is launched." They heard as they gathered around a board.
"A platoon of ODSTS is to secure the ridge separating the surviving UNSC forces and us… When you've finished? You and the survivors will be evacuated to the Invictus. Failure to do so means being stranded on Vigilance for the foreseeable future…." They heard as nods were given.
"If there is nothing else? Prepare for the drop, we're dropping a round of archers and then stopping to replenish, there will be no fire support." They heard and shrugged.
None of them minded. They were well aware this was a suicide mission… One of the only reasons it was handed to ODSTS in the first place. No, they knew very well that this mission was a long one.
"All right… We both know this ain't going to be that easy, Covvies are swarming the city, and trying to hold it is a no go in a straight-up fight… Which is why we aren't going for one." They heard as there were nods.
"Secure the landing zone… Topple the recon post and then move from there, we pause for any reason? We die." He heard as he looked downwards at the ground.
Whatever came next? He had a lot more problems than just this, whatever came, as a result, would bother him as he looked downwards at the ground.
He sighed to himself, looking downwards at the ground, unsure of what to see and do for now, all of it would be odder and odder. Something about it all seemed to bug him the wrong way.
"You know you're asking us to attack a full base of Covenant and all security of the base… Alone, with little backup and support." They heard as they turned and looked downwards at the ground.
"I'm also aware of the fact that ODSTS are properly good at their jobs and you can cut through the rest of the scum properly." He said before he looked downwards at the ground.
Everything on the mend would continue to bother them for now… All of it seems to be odder and odder.
"Didn't say it'd be impossible, just a little bit of a problem, we're going to need 2 hours tops… Going in loud means we can't drop on top of their base, they have AA positioned to shoot everything on the way down." He heard as he clicked his tongue.
"Well aware, going to launch a MAC round, which would destroy the entire base… Will leave the location secure which is where you and your men come in… Get the men and the relic, and pick up them with a Pelican." He heard before he clicked his fingers against once the top of his mouth.
He had a lot more upon his mind than the mission before another of his men put his helmet on and passed the man an M45 shotgun, slowly yet surely walking forwards the hanger.
"We have ten minutes, sir. Longer we don't handle it? The longer that we have to try and figure out how many pieces we're in." He heard before he looked to the side.
"Meaning we got about 50 to deal with." He heard as he looked downwards at the ground, something about it will be unyielding for now.
"Let's get going then." He stated as he nodded and looked downwards.
