It was a sunny afternoon in the village hidden in the Leaf and Uchiha Obito and Hatake Kakashi dripped with sweat as they exchanged blows, sparring in the training field where Team Minato usually trained.
This was partly due to the blistering heat, graciously provided by the blazing sun, and partly due to their spar. So far, Obito had easily been holding his own against Kakashi, but exhausted from the blistering heat, he allowed a tiny gap in his stance.
Kakashi took advantage of this and pushed through his guard, pinning his (self-proclaimed) rival to the ground. He got up, an annoyingly smug smirk on his face, and walked towards Rin, leaving him on the ground. Obito felt a stab of pain as he watched Rin walk over to Kakashi, gracing him with that smile that he would do anything for. He'd loved Rin since the first day he had met her, but it almost seemed like Rin didn't know he existed when Kakashi was around. That… Usratonkachi! He thought to himself as he took a swig of water from his bottle. The traditional Uchiha word for idiot fitted him perfectly.
He felt Minato sensei's gaze on him and turned to see his sensei walking towards him with a smile on his face. Obito greeted him with a bright smile and Minato sensei chuckled.
"Good job there, Obito! You almost got him this time!" Minato Sensei said. Obito blushed scarlet and let out a little "eep".
Before he could say anything else, two little blobs launched themselves out from the tree underneath which Obito had been standing. The two blobs leaped onto Minato's poor, defenseless student he crashed to the hard ground with a small yelp. The yelp immediately attracted the attention of his other two students and they, like him, pulled out weapons to face the opponent.
When Obito had fallen, dust had gathered around him, obstructing his teammates view of him. But now as the cloud of dust cleared away, Minato lowered his Kunai, as did Rin and Kakashi. Rin resisted the urge to squeal at the utter cuteness of the scene. Obito was sitting with his back against the tree, two children pressed against his chest. The kids looked not older than three years old their tiny cute bodies clad in ninja wear.
Before anyone could say a word, the kids had leaped up and were bouncing up and down right next to Obito.
"Obito O nee- San! You didn't come to babysit today! Did you forget us?" said the taller boy, with an adorable pout on his face. His adorable curls bounced as he turned those big puppy eyes on Obito. The kid was Honestly adorable, and Obito cursed the gods at how his will crumbled to pieces. From the sidelines, Minato thanked God that those eyes weren't turned on him.
"Of course not, Shisui! I was just… busy." He lied. "What are you and Itachi doing here anyway? The babysitting period finished an hour ago."
"Dad sent us! He said not to forget the clan meeting at eight 'o clock! Also, he req… req…" The kid seemed to struggle with the word for a second, until the older kid- Shisui cut in.
"Requested" he added helpfully. Itachi glared at him and continued. "He also requested you to mind us while he's busy."
"Oh, yeah! The meeting!" Obito said, smiling, "No, I haven't forgotten! Also, sure, you guys can hang around me."
"Ahem" Rin interrupted them with a discreet cough. "Wouldn't it be nice if you introduced your friends to us?"
Obito flushed red "Um, Sorry about that," he said sheepishly "Itachi, Shisui, this is my team- That's Minato sensei, he's my sensei, and those two are Ba- I mean Kakashi and Rin, my teammates."
"Nice to meet you," said Itachi.
"Yeah," added Shisui "You guys seem cool, and also, you know my nee-San!"
"I wasn't aware that you had any siblings," Kakashi said, eyeing Obito.
To be honest, it was true, but Kakashi didn't have to remind him of his dead parents, Obito thought, scowling.
"Well, everyone in the Uchiha clan is related somehow… but we don't actually have the same parents."
Obito's scowl deepened as Kakashi let out a harumph.
"Figures," Kakashi said, evidently satisfied. He turned to leave, waving his water canteen to show that he was going to fill it up. As soon as he was out of hearing range, Itachi's small voice piped up.
"I don't like him, Obito-nee-san, why is he being so mean?" Itachi said, cutely pouting and tugging on his pants.
"I don't like him either. He's such a stuck-up pr- I mean guy." He muttered under his breath, loud enough for everyone to hear.
Rin frowned as Minato sensei tutted.
"Obito, you shouldn't say that, It's not very nice," Rin said, her smile fading.
Minato sighed as Obito's expression turned outraged. He opened his mouth to say something, but a small voice beat him to it.
"Nee-San wasn't being mean, that guy was. Nee-San is just telling the truth." Shisui said, almost as outraged as Obito.
Minato Sensei and Rin wore matching expressions of surprise and shock as Obito nodded approvingly at the boy's statement.
"Yeah! Din't his mommy teach him to be nice?" Itachi added. Everyone excluding the children froze. It was well known that Kakashi was an orphan, and he made absolutely no attempt to hide it.
Rin gasped and covered her mouth. Minato sensei's eyes hardened. He was known to be extremely protective of his silver-haired prodigy of a student.
"He," Minato said, his voice as hard as the look in his eyes, "doesn't have a mommy."
Shisui rolled his eyes. "Well, nee-san doesn't have a mommy either. Or a daddy." Shisui said, mirroring Minato's earlier expression.
"Yeah, and he's nice!" Itachi added.
The silence that followed was stifling.
Obito broke it with a quick 'bye', and he rushed off, children in tow.
A/N: Hey guys, I'm really excited to see how this fic will end up. I am not really sure abt the pairings, but most of the story will be neutral, with very little mention of the pairings, as it is a family fic. I am thinking of making the ships Obito/Kakashi, Minato/Kuhina, and Rin/OC, however, I m open to suggestions, so if you have any, please message me.
Toodles,
DDOM
