She was a pixie. There was no doubt about it in his mind. Her mischievousness and coquettish manner made her glow like a moonbeam in the night. She loved to play tricks on him and it made him feel special, as if he was her special target. She had no wings, but it seemed that she left a trail of pixie dust in her tracks, endlessly leading him to follow her – even though he knew it would only lead to more pranks. It is said that those who deliberately follow pixies often vanish without a trace.

"Princess Rei, take me with you," he breathed into the still night.

As if she heard him, the fire princess looked back over her shoulder at him and gave him a wink before disappearing in a twinkle of light.
