Nearly forget about my laptop. My stomach was twisted, that nervous feeling right? My head was beyond messed up, I need answers. I didn't want to think about my parents, after all I was…alone. A single tear escaped my eye. I signed in on my IM, nobody was online, great. Facebook next? Nothing, only cries for help from my friends, most likely…dead, I shuddered at the thought. Was this really happening, a real nightmare? There was a loud bang on my door.

"Hello?" I questioned. It was replied by the now familiar moan. Several of them. No, I'm not ready to die, no, no! Jumping out the window was not an option, they were crawling out on the streets, death is inevitable. I closed my eyes and prayed. Prayed for the first actual time in my life. I took a deep breath, the banging continuing. Another loud bang caused my eyes to flicker open. In no time they would of ripped the door off. I searched around my room, looking for any sort of weapon. Nothing, just half a bottle of Vodka which me and Gina sneaked out the other night. I had an idea. I grasped the bottle firmly in my hand and smashed half of it against the windowsill. Making a sharp pointed glass end to it. It wasn't how I expected it to look, in movies everything looks different, apart from this was no movie, this is a real life nightmare! I gripped my knife and half the bottle in my hand ready for what was coming, I looked at my Facebook page for probably the last time. One new post?

Alex? I read it over and over : Anyone, anyone who may be alive, I figured to aim for their head…

Alex, maybe he was still alive, I grabbed my phone and put it in my pocket, I never thought to call him. My hands started to shake as they had ripped some of the wood off the door, I could see their blue, and red faces, blood, was everywhere on them. They were all men, one I recognized who was one of my next door neighbours. They continued to knock the door down. It eventually shattered with a loud thump, I was surprised the whole floor didn't fall down. One of them clumsily lurched it self at me I quickly used the knife in my right hand to stab it through the head. I could feel its skull crack against the impact and a very strange stretching sound as it reached the brain, I was surprised I wasn't sick. Another came limply towards my I used the bottle in my other hand to do the same thing. I had to use more force this time but it went through. I pulled my knife out of its head with some force and the same with the bottle, and I was ready for the next attack. By this time my heat was against my ribs, pounding with adrenaline.

When I next looked up I saw something which rang a bell. She was in our school uniform, short, hair, with a fringe. Her face was unrecognizable, half of it was missing. I soon realised who it was when I saw the bracelets round her hand - Sophie? One of my best friends. No. My eye started to prickle. She soon jumped on me and pinned me down, trying to bite me. The knife was still in my hand. Could I do this, could I forgive myself. I cried her name and got no response. I looked away as I pierced the knife through her forehead. She fell to the side of me.

I looked over at the remains of her body.

"I'm so sorry this happened to you." I whispered "Your soul will be in a better place, I will never forget you Sophie Wellston!" I wiped the blood off my knife and the bottle as best I could. I went into my Mum and Dad's room. Raiding my Dad's cupboards I finally found it. A Desert Eagle handgun, I read it on the case. I soon found a strap for it and attached it to my leg and connected it to my belt. There was also a few other pockets and things attached to my other leg, one of which I could slip my knife into. I found several handgun ammos on top of the cupboards and placed them in one of the pockets. I had never used a gun, but it looks like I had no choice. I was soon greeted by another one of them things. It took me by surprise, it was awfully quiet coming into the room. I grabbed the gun, shakily aiming it at the head, and fired. It was a stronger force than I expected, I nearly dropped it. The thing dropped to the floor straight away.

I examined the gun. Trying to look for a way to reload. I soon found it, slipping in several bullets, I knew this wasn't going to be the last time I used a gun. I sighed, my voice shaking, it was still relatively light outside. I should use that to my advantage. I sat on the bed and took out my phone, I flicked through my contacts and hesitated when it came to Alex, I pressed the call button. I had to call a few times before I got through to anything. What I first heard was moans, explosions, something hissing, and gun shots.

"Alex?"

"I'm here! Where are you?"

"My place…"

"I'm on my way now! I'm literally two minutes away from your house." He hung up. I couldn't find anymore ammo, there was nothing left here for me. I took one last walk in the house. I found that our front door was missing and several windows were broken, letting in a slight breeze. It was getting cooler now. I grabbed my blue fleece and put it on. It will be getting cold soon. I saw Alex coming up the drive. There were none of them things. The road was eerily quiet, there were a few body's here and there. I walked out of the door and met Alex.

"You okay?" He asked. I smiled a small smile.

"In myself no, right now yeah."

"Brace yourself Danielle, we still have to get out of here!" I noticed he had a knife on his left shoulder, and a gun on his leg, I also think it was a shotgun he carried on his back. He had combats on and a plain dark blue t-shirt on, unlike me he didn't have a jacket. His side-fringe was in his hair, I always use to tease him and call him mop-head. I do like the style, side-fringe, his hair was dyed really black. He always got bullied at school, I never saw why though. He has always been my friend, and when he asked me out on a date I couldn't say no. I knew I had feelings for him way before he asked me.

"Let's go then!" We started jogging through the empty streets. I didn't know where we was going, I followed Alex, I had to trust him. We encountered more of the 'undead'. Alex had told me about how Umbrella was involved in this, and what was going on. If a person was bit by one of these creatures they would become one of them themselves. The T-virus I think that is what it's called. Alex never told me how he knows this stuff. This is what my Mum meant about 'being involved'.

I shot another one in the head. Alex has complimented me on my aim, he said that I was pretty good for never handling a gun before.

"Alex…?"

"Yeah." He said after shooting down another one.

"How do you know so much about guns?" He looked at me, beads of sweat were across his forehead.

"My Dad use to teach me, he worked for Umbrella too. I think he knew this was coming. Anyway, we are off to the Police Station, my sister might be there."

"I didn't know you had a sister… How long have I known you?" He smirked at me.

"I didn't know till yesterday! My Aunt told me. I haven't seen my parents in years Danielle, you know I don't like talking about them…"

"Please Alex, we might die anytime, and I don't want that to be the last thought in my mind!"

"With my Mum and Dad working with Umbrella they sent me to live with my Aunt and Uncle when I was about 12. What I didn't know was that my Mum was pregnant with my sister. I wonder what has happened to my sister. Strange, my Mother and Father live in the same city as me, yet I never see them on the streets or anything. Must be living there job."

"Any idea what your sister is called."

"Sherry, Sherry Birkin."
