A/N - I PROMISE TO DO MY BEST AND TRY NOT TO KILL ANYBODY ELSE! I feel awful! But i'm really pleased with how this story is going. I shall say it again - hope you enjoy this chapter blah blah blah ...
Guess I was alone again. I felt tired again. It had been another long day, every minute, every second my hope was depleting. I was knelt on my knees in the dark alley way. Guts and blood surrounded Josh, he was unrecognizable. I dare not go close, I'm scared of what is happening. Will I be next? Blood was covered all over my body. The dressing on my leg would soon need replacing, blood was starting to soak through, only thing was I had no more dressing. I knew I was in pain but that no longer bothered me, every scratch and graze I received drew blood, only I had gotten so use to it, I don't feel the agonizing pain it would create. I heard the groans of undead behind me, I didn't bother looking back, I didn't bother getting up. I closed my eyes and awaited the bite. I don't have anything to live for anymore. Sorry Gina, I have no other choice, there's no way of me getting out of here by myself. They were advancing on me, I could here them, I could smell them, I could nearly feel the ice breath on me, and the stench and warmth of the blood. Something hit the floor, it sounded metal, I heard it bounce.
I was suddenly deafened by an explosion, I hit right down to the floor. My eyes were still closed, I won't open them until I sense it is safe. I still heard the shuffling of some of the creatures, but that was soon eradicated by what sounded like a machine gun. Help? Please be.
I rolled over onto my back and stumbled to my feet. Somebody jumped from one of the building balconies, they startled me. I recognized the blonde fringe and brunette hair.
"Tom?" I ran up to him and hugged him, one of my best friends. "Thank god your alive!"
"Same to you!" He hugged me back. He stared at the mess that was Josh. "What ha-" He stopped when I began to cry.
"It was Josh… Alex died too…" Tom's eyes widened, he knew Josh and Alex too. He shook my shoulders and wiped the tears away from my face.
"This isn't going to help, we are the only few remaining, if that. We need to get out of here, then we can stop Umbrella. Danielle, I promise you I won't die, neither shall you, we'll make sure of it!" I nodded slowly. He was right, this couldn't stop me, it will haunt me later I dare say. Tom's white jacket, I noticed was no longer white, it was stained with the blood of others, his jeans had holes in and through one I could see a scratch he had had, it was bleeding a little. I saw his gaze go down to my leg, he pulled a face.
"That looks nasty! Here…" He pulled out some dressing. He got to the floor and unravelled the old dressing. The scratch was pretty deep, it was still full of blood. The spray Alex gave me did seem to be working however, new skin had already started to form, even though it was still bleeding. He took out some sort of aesthetic spray. "Sorry this may sting." I winced as it did indeed sting. He sprayed some on the bandage before starting to wrap it round my leg. He bounced back up. "All better!" I joked.
"Let's go then, we could follow the main road, and stay low in the back streets."
The main road was terrible, it was crawling with those things! Everything attacked us, dogs, zombies, crows! As much as I didn't want to, we both had to go into the dark, damp and wet place, it was dangerous but more safer than here.
"Tom we need to go down to the sewers, I think there's a way out down there but, I cannot be sure. Me and Josh, I'm sure we took a wrong turn somewhere."
"Yeah, I must've come out the same way you did. I saw empty bullet shells on the ground and hoped they would lead me out of this place." I felt guilty that we didn't see Tom anywhere. Maybe Josh could of still been … No, I have said to myself not to think that way, this is destiny. Oh how much I wished it was not mine or my friends.
I removed the gate to the sewers, the stench hit me again nevertheless I jumped straight down, I surprised myself, I didn't even use the ladders, the drop was about 8 foot. I jumped off the concrete platform and into the sewage water. Tom was right behind me, his machine gun in his hand. I switched my gun light on, as did Tom. We commenced forwards, climbing up a ladder, we didn't end up back outside but in some sort of tube like gate. Someone else had been here, there were gaping holes in the ground where grenades had been throws, we soon saw why. Giant cockroaches came in there thousands, lurching forwards at us. I grabbed my knife out and began chopping at them.
"Ergh! You ok Tom!" I watched him jump down the ladder at the other side, I ran forward and jumped down.
"Barely!" It was lighter here, a small but overpowering light gleamed next to us. We could see around 20 meters in front. The path was clear. I could see though where the beam of the light ended it was darkness. Only god knows what awaits us. Before we entered the darkness, we heard something move in the water ahead of us.
"Brace yourself!" I whispered, Tom slowly nodded. We switched our lights on, we couldn't see anything that could harm us, not yet. Our head snapped to the left as we heard the noise in the water again, then to the right, left, right, left. Until finally it revealed itself.
It ran pretty fast at us. Its whole body was crimson red, I could see it had claws. I shot at it but it didn't go down easily, although me and Tom pumped it with tonnes of led, it still wouldn't die. It was only when I saw a knife stick in its head it stopped. I looked at Tom, he hadn't thrown it. And I was pretty sure I didn't. A tall woman, probably in heels, walked towards us. Her hair was short, black, she wore a short red dress, it was covered in firearms and weapons. She bent down and put her hand in the water to retrieve here knife. She looked Chinese and well prepared for this. She then started to walk off.
"Hey wait!" Tom shouted. She looked back at us.
"What is It?" Her voice was calm but serious.
"Thanks…!"
"No problem…" She soon started walking again.
"Where are you off?" I piped up.
"Some things your better off not knowing. I have 'business' to take care of…" She strolled back into the darkness. I looked at Tom, he just shrugged at me. I would of thought she would of stayed with us, I think it was pretty obvious that we are only teenagers and she was an adult. Does she want us to get killed or something? We pressed on. I'd worry about that another time.
