I'm really happy with how this chapter has gone. Thanks again for the reviews. It feels slightly rushed to me, so i'm planning on writing a sequel. There is still a few more chapters on this story, but i'm rather dissapointed that it will only be around 10-11 chapters... Heres chapter 7 !

The smell got increasingly worse as we plodded our way through more of the undead. Smelt like something was rotting. I had to strain my eyes, seeing is believing which is what I have now learnt. I shone the light onto the dark shadow. I felt squeamish when I saw rather large fish feasting on a dead person. There were many fish despite having rather small teeth, they were like razors. Sharp to the point. Just our luck! The light made them jump away from the body and separate into the darkness once more. Their eyes were yellow, its face was huge. I never even knew fish lived in the sewers! I saw the concerned look on Tom's face, someone was going to happen as the fish swimming soon fell silent. Then, from the darkness, one pounced onto Tom's neck, he fell in the water just in time before it bit him. I couldn't see him, the sewage water must be about 2 foot deep. I looked where he had fell, the ripples on the water bounced vibrantly. Dark red soon merged with the brown water. Shit!

I shot at some of the fish that were swimming towards me. Missing every shot and seeing the bubbles the bullet create I didn't have a chance. I was surprised to see that something raised from the water, it was Tom in all his glory. Thank god. He gasped for breath as he stood up, his hair was dripping wet nonetheless he used his machine gun to kill the remaining fish.

"Little bastard." He shook his finger. Blood was dripping from it.

"Shit… Tom it didn't…"

"No… thank god, it was just a scratch from when I pulled my knife out… Was I making to much of a noise that you didn't come to help?"

"You're kidding, sorry, I was in the middle of trying to kill the little shits."

"It's ok… Let's get a move on then!"

We went through more undead, one was so close to biting my leg. It was underwater and I didn't see it. Luckily Tom managed to spot the creature and shot it before it could grab a hold of me. It wasn't long before we were surrounded in this cramped area of the sewers. It didn't help that it was pitch black and the only source of light was our guns, which were now starting to dim. Tom started firing his machine gun again. Kicking, punching, and using our knifes to defend ourselves from them. The water was shallower here, and I could see the ladder which we needed to go up. The sewers made a dead end here, and this is the closest we could go to the exit of Raccoon which was about 5 or 6 miles.

Something then suddenly pushed the zombies against the wall, crushing them instantly. It was huge! It was covered in a black leather jacket. Its face was white, also its red/yellow eyes gave a light of there own.

"What the hell is that thing!" I screamed

"Just shoot; Aim for its head!" We started backing away to the ladders as it slowly walked closer to us, its giant arms swaying as if nothing is happening. It wouldn't go down. We were nearly at the ladders when it pulled its arm back and hit us both in the stomach. Causing us to crash into a wall and slide down it. I massaged my aching shoulder before stumbling to my feet. Its too dark we had to get out of here and up them ladders.

"Tom…! RUN!" He landed flat on his face, and was still recovering when the thing grabbed his hair and started to pull him upwards. He screamed in agony. I took out my knife and by utter luck managed to hit it in the back of its neck. It released its grip on Tom. I could barley see Tom mouthed thanks to me. We sprinted to the ladders. I clambered up them first. The iron was cold on my skin. I had never gone up ladders that fast in my life, I removed the lid to the city and climbed up, I pulled Tom up.

"Take this you bastard!" Tom reached into his pocket and grabbed two grenades, I think. He pulled the ring on both and tossed them into the hole, and quickly covered the hatch up with its lid. The lid shook as the grenades went up, causing smoke to come from the sides of the hole.

I took out my phone. 00:21am, day what now, 2 or 3? I can't remember, I have been in this nightmare long enough now, I think its time I finally got the hell out of here! We will have to find some place to rest soon or fatigue will overcome us both. There was rubble everywhere. I could see the main road out of the city, rather far in the distance I could see where the City lights ended. It was eerie and scarcely silent, nothing was happening, and I'm not sticking around to find out if anything does happen!

"Danielle, we need to rest, you look tired, and I certainly feel it. I was thinking about that motel over there." He pointed to a small little motel, 'Sally's Stop', cheesy. The letters were in pink, some of them were still lit up, the S on the Sally flickered. The door creaked as we opened it. Blood stained the fine peach coloured walls. I was shell shocked when I saw HALF of the receptionist on the desk, her body lay on the desk, guts covered the papers. She looked to have had short light brown hair, she only looked young. She would have been at work when something came across her, she wouldn't of known anything was different, she never got a chance to survive; like most people.

The motel only had 4 rooms. It was easy to search for anything which could harm us, I was pretty surprised we got across the street unnoticed by anything. We went into room number 3. It was the only room that still had a door and a lock on it. The window was covered in blood, it was from the outside though. There was just one double bed, it was in the middle of the rather small room, a little lamp and single flower was on a worktop next to the bed. The flower was dead, like most of Raccoon City. This room wasn't great, the toilet was blocked so we had to use one from another room, and the shower didn't work.

"You take first rest Danielle, I say 4 hours each?"

"Agreed, don't be afraid to wake me up!" I lied on top of the sheets, after taking my gun holster and equipment off. I only just realized I had no knife, it would be stuck in the back of the giant guy's neck! I'll be ok with out one.

It didn't take me any longer than 30 seconds to fall to sleep. As much as I wanted sleep and needed it. I wish I didn't need to. I only had nightmares, which I prefer not to speak about. Sweat trickled down my back when Tom woke me up. I still felt tired but at least I was more recovered. Tom looked awful, he looked like he was about to drop to the floor. I rushed upwards.

"Here…" I ruffled the pillow a bit. "Get some sleep!" He nodded

"There's some food over there, I found in a handbag which was left here." He then shut his eyes. Just me now, sat alone. I reached over to the handbag. Cereal bar and some crisps, I forgot how hungry I was. I ate them in silence. 4 miles away was our freedom. I will never be the same, I don't know where we could go when we get out. I've lost everything apart from Tom. I've been friends with him for as long as I can remember. I want to fulfil my dream of becoming a musician, I already play guitar and have written my own pieces before. But I can swear something will stop me, I can just feel that everything is going to change, not that it already has. I walked over to the window then I grabbed the wooden chair and pulled it up next to the window. The chair was unsteady, so I balanced myself on it. I could see the sun coming up. The orange surrounded the sky. It was truly beautiful. When I turned my gaze to in front of the sun, it wasn't beautiful at all. 7:09am. Hunters were roaming the streets, hopefully they wouldn't spot me, so I crouched down and peeked through the windows. I jumped when I saw one staring straight at me, its yellow eyes pierced mine. I saw it starting to slowly walk towards the motel. Fuck sake!

"Tom!" I harshly whispered. I shook him and he gave me a 'get off' motion with his shoulders. He was dazzled by the light then looked at his watch.

"It's only 10 past 7 though!"

"Yeah, and we have to get the hell out of here before the hunters get their arse's here!" Tom then jumped straight up, grabbing all of his equipment and strapping it round himself. He then peeked a look through the window.

"Shit!" He shouted. Slamming his fist against the wall. "There's too many, we don't have enough ammo to kill all of them! There has to be about 30, 40 out there."

"There has to be something around here!" I started rooting through the room. Nothing… no surprise. I looked up at the ceiling. A hatch to the loft? I looked at Tom, and smiled. He knew what I was talking about and he smiled back. I heard the main door being smashed open.

"Quick!" Alex cupped his hands together, he boosted me up. I then slid the hatch open and shoved myself up. I then reached down and held out my hand for Tom he grabbed onto it. I pulled him up, I nearly fell. When he was up I put the lid onto the gap just as the hunters ripped the door apart. It was cold and damp up here. We could here the footsteps of the hunters in the room, then we heard crashes and smashes. It must be destroying something.

"Close one!" I whispered.

"Yeah. Here… don't drink it all." He handed me a bottle of water. I had a few sips of it before I handed it back to Tom.

"Thanks. You do take care of me don't you?" I rested my head on his shoulder. "Are we ever going to out of this?" He only sighed. It was an question nobody knew the answer too. "Tom… I have lost everything here, I don't know where to go if we get out of here."

"We've going to stick together, no matter what… Danielle, I promise I will never let anything happen to you, ever." I looked at him, his blue eyes looking sad. I leaned into him again, taking in his scent. Ammo, metal, blood, and the faint smell of his aftershave, that stood out for me. If I didn't make it out of this I would make sure Tom does, with or without me, I lo-. What are you thinking Danielle? He's your best friend. I think I got lost in the moment there. Tom then put his hand on my head and stroked my hair. I felt like crying, instead I just buried myself in his embrace and he let me. He rested his head on top of mine, and sleep overcame us once more.
