I was running down one of the halls of the police station. Something isn't right. I heard something rush past me, the breeze of the running made my hair swish in a graceful movement; this wasn't graceful at all. The hunter soon presented itself. Its green body standing out, its scaly skin reflected the moonlight, which was shining through the windows onto the corridor floor. It walked towards me so I backed away. I raised my gun towards it and pulled the trigger.

Shit. I rooted through my pockets for more ammo, but I was only greeted by warm air. I flinched as something grabbed hold of me, its arm around my neck cutting off oxygen. It was a hunter, the arm was green and its claws were oh so long. I tried to grab my knife but I couldn't find it. I could feel the monsters breathe on the back of my neck, if I could see its face I have no doubt it would have been smiling. My legs and arms started shaking. The hunter in front of me was coming closer and closer ever time I blinked. Its yellow eyes looked dead into my own. When it was so close to me I could feel its breathe I tried to struggle my way out. I was desperate to get out of this position, it was no use the hunter which had hold of me only tightened its grip. I was still trying to get out of its grasp I never saw the hunter impale my stomach. The pain hit me like a bomb. The other hunter then dropped me, I fell to the ground with a thud. I clutched the hole through my stomach, blood covered my hands. I did my best to scream but nothing came out. The hunters just stood there looking at me… About to do something else.

I woke up gasping, my pulse was irregular. I flickered my eyes open, I was surprised to see the sunlit room. I was in a bed, all sorts of things were hooked up to me. Tom was sitting next to me, he jumped up when he saw I was awake.

"God sake Danielle, you gave us all a scare there, you even missed your birthday!" I smiled slightly. My birthday? In the past few days I had been to hell and back; I completely forgot about my birthday. Guess I'm finally 16, I thought I would have been more happier but everything has gone to shit to even care what day it is. There were more important things running through my mind now.

"What happened to me?" I asked curiously. Tom looked down at the floor with a sad expression. I was about to say something else but then one of the doctors came in. It looked like he had just come out of theatre. He placed some gloves on before he sat next to me.

"Looks like your awake miss." He sounded Indian, his brown eyes looked at me. "I suppose you want answers, am I correct?" I slowly nodded.

"What happened to me…What's wrong with me?" He knelt forwards clutching his hands together.

"The creature that scratched your leg had impaled you pretty deeply. It seems the virus that caused it to mutate that way has somehow been transferred into yourself; Resulting with what happened the other night. It is called the T-Virus, T meaning Tyrant. It was only a matter of time before that happened. You were lucky to get back at the time you did, if you were still in Raccoon or even in the helicopter you would have been dead. Luckily we were there to get your heart beating again. We don't know how but we did it. We managed to extract most of the virus from you…"

"How did you find out what the virus was called…? I mean it must have been pretty hard to discover all this, did you send someone in to Raccoon or something?"

"Even if I could we wouldn't it would be too dangerous. Your friend Mr Thomas had some Umbrella files from the time he had spent there."

"What do you mean by even if you could?"

"Dear… You do ask a lot of questions! Raccoon city has been blown to pieces, something rumoured about a nuclear missile. Raccoon City is nothing but a creator in the Earth now."

Raccoon City my home? It's been destroyed?

What's going to happen to me and Tom now?" I asked, I was still in shock about all the news, I'm only just able to digest it. Tom looked up as I said this. We both needed to get our heads down and start a new life.

"Well…That isn't any of my business I just know that the government would like to speak to you both as soon as you, Danielle, have recovered enough." We both sighed, I wasn't looking forward to that. After taking my blood pressure and some other sorts of tests the doctor left leaving me and Tom alone.

"Get some sleep…" He soon said.

"I don't want to sleep." It was the truth, I would only be inflicted upon nightmares, which will haunt me for years to come. Tom walked over to the bed next to mine and laid down on it, he got comfy and had his back towards me. His steady breathing soon told me he was sleeping, he needed it as much as I. Although I really didn't want to sleep, there was nothing else to do. I'm not going to think about anything, my life has gone, everything's going to be different from now on. Then it was only a little while before I felt my eye lids turn heavy and then I soon fell asleep.

I was on strict bed rest for ages, only being able to move by going in a wheelchair. How little I knew that I would be spending weeks in that hospital, in that bed. Tom stayed with me throughout. There was no where else he could turn. He vowed he won't let anything happen to me, and he wasn't going to let that vow go. The government was getting desperate to see us now, even providing us with new clothes. I had also lost my phone. It disappeared one day, it didn't really matter as I didn't have any sort of charger for it, so its not like it could have been any use to me anyway. My leg healed leaving the scares of the hunter. I shall always remember the yellow eyes that glared at me. I was eager to get out of the hospital for just a day if anything. When that day came both of us were whizzed off in some black government van. The drivers expression was non-existent. He had told us not to speak to him as he was only an escort not an actual member of the government. The van was clean, it looked brand new. The smell of the cushioned leather made me feel sick, its not the smell I really like.

We arrived at some sort of large building, the security was over the top. Armed guards were everywhere. The gates were at least 3 or 4 meters high, with another meter of barbed wire across the top, I doubt anyone would even try to get over that fence. The driver killed the engine and got out. He soon opened our door and Tom and I scrambled out. The driver motioned us to follow him. There was one small side door which we were heading to. A guard all in black stopped us. He looked massive compared to the skinny driver. You could see his hidden gun, he wore sunglasses even though it looked like it was going to blow up a storm, his face was expressionless. I could see his earpiece and the wire spiralling down his back. Our driver held up some sort of identification and the guard held open the door for us, then he slammed it shut once we were all through.

My feet hit the wooden floor. The walls were white. We went past several doors with names printed on them, all offices I presumed. Some other guy came along and silently thanked the driver, who then walked away. This bloke motioned us to follow him. His hair was blonde and he was dressed in a suit with a blue tie. His hair reminded me much of a bowl, round. He opened a door, and let us through, he then shut it behind him. It was another office, probably this mans.

"Sorry I haven't introduced myself: I'm Mr Richard Baldwin." He shook both our hands. "Tom and Danielle, right?" We both nodded our heads. Tom piped up.

"Um…Mr Baldwin? What exactly are we doing here?"

"Ah, I knew you was going to ask me that. You have no where else to go so now you are going to 'live' with us, we can get you both a little apartment. Even though you are both 16 we will let you live your lifes now. Only on one condition." Me and Tom exchanged glances.

"What would that be?" Tom asked eagerly.

"Tell us your story about Raccoon City and we want you both to join the Special Response Team."

"What if we say no? " My tone was dead serious.

"We are the government my dear. We have the authority to do as we please with you!" The scary thing was he was smiling all the way through our conversation, it only dropped when we told him what happened to us.

"An Asian/Chinese woman in a red dress, that's awfully strange as some other person who survived the outbreak mentioned that."

I was quick to respond. "Who…Who survived."

"I cannot tell you."

We continued with our story. Looks like my destiny is sealed with the S.R.T.

A/N - I don't really see the point in chapter 10 but i'm going to write it anyway as like a signing off the story. So don't expect it to be more then something like 800 words.
