AN: My first ever drabble/oneshot based around these two. Hope I do Luna justice, cause I seriously love her.
Disclaimer: I own nothing.
Sometimes, Hermione Granger wonders how she manages to put up with Luna Lovegood.
Hermione knows that she is all logic. She knows what is real, and she knows what isn't. She doesn't believe in the creatures Luna spends most of her time chasing around the Hogwarts grounds, and she doesn't know why Luna does, either.
Luna is the exact opposite.
She's all about what she believes to be fact, not what actually is. She lives in her own world and loves to talk about Nargles and other creatures that Hermione is quite sure she made up in her head.
But as much as Hermione hates to admit it, Luna has her own special brand of logic.
Things that would never make sense to anyone else seem to come easily to her, and she believes that anything is possible as long as a little magic (and not even the kind with wands and spells) is used.
Other times, Hermione wonders how she ever managed without the Ravenclaw girl in her life.
In her fifth year when the two girls first became friends thanks to Dumbledore's Army, they both knew the war was starting again, and they both knew that now was the time to spend with the people they cared about.
A special night was born for all the girls in Dumbledore's Army.
They camped out in the Room of Requirement, breaking multiple school rules, but none of them honestly cared. They stayed up as late as they could, talking about anything and everything, and when Hermione woke up the next morning, Luna's hand was clutching onto her nightshirt, her hand in a tight fist.
Hermione was tempted to move her, but the small smile on the younger girl's face stopped her.
When Hermione came back to school to finish her seventh year, the absence of Harry and Ron was clearly upsetting to her, even with Ginny still around.
Luna always sat with them at the Gryffindor table, always talking about odd creatures and things that made no sense, but they made Hermione smile and laugh and forget, just for a moment, that her two best friends weren't with her.
And after they were both out of Hogwarts, and Hermione had moved into her own flat, Luna showed up at her door one night, completely soaked from rain, but with the same, calm look in her eyes and smile on her face.
"Luna?" Hermione questioned, pulling the younger girl inside.
"Ginny said I should talk to you about how I feel towards you" Luna said, the smile never leaving her face.
Hermione was faintly aware that water was getting all over her new carpet, but ignored the fact, watching the girl carefully.
"Feel towards me-?" Hermione asked, but was cut off as Luna stood on her tip-toes and pressed a light kiss against her lips.
She pulled back just as quickly, still smiling.
"It's quite alright if you don't feel the same" she said.
In response, Hermione leaned forward and pressed another kiss to Luna's lips, wrapping her arms around the other girl's waist.
That night as they were lying in bed next to each other, Hermione's arms wrapped tightly around Luna's waist, the blond girl glanced up at her.
"Would you like to help me find Nargles tomorrow?" she asked softly.
Hermione blinked, resisted the urge to tell her again that they didn't exist, and nodded her head.
"Of course, Luna, looking for Nargles sounds like an excellent plan"
AN: Not my best, really just a little drabble type thing to break my writers block.
