Episode 3: Rearmed
Chase opens the door and walks into the kitchen. There, he sees Wuya munching on some stew with Jackson. "Why hello, you two." Chase said. Wuya sees Chase...but no Jack. "Let me guess...it was a failure?" Wuya said. "Unfortunately yes." Chase said. "Apparently, Jack isn't going to return to us...to make matters worse...he's allying himself with the Gems and Monks." This caught both Wuya and Jackson offguard. Then again…Jack and Peridot were close ally when they were Heylin so maybe this isn't too out there, but still. "So, we have to battle Jack then…That's going to be an interesting situation to go into." Wuya said. Chase nods as he hears the door open.
It's Hannibal. He had returned just now. "Did you tell them about Jack?" Hannibal said. "I was just informing them on what happened with my talk. I tried everything to convince him, even offering to give him my chunk to rule the world. He declined and said that he's more content with protecting earth than to rule it. He also told me that he's way too jaded with the Heylin way." Chase said. "Well, his loss, our gain." Hannibal said. "Besides, I did tell Steven that, and I quote, I know more about his mother than he knows." "That makes me wonder...what do you know about Rose that Steven doesn't? Isn't Steven's mom Rose Quartz?" Jackson said. "Yes, but I know Rose's secret and I'll tell you all when the timing is just right." Hannibal said. "You really love to toy with us and the audience, don't you?" Chase quips. Hannibal chuckles a bit. "Read me like a book, Chase. Besides…once they get informed about Rose's true identity…they'll collapse in on themselves. So much so, that Jack would wish he stayed on the Heylin and will pay for his treason." Hannibal added.
Chase was a little uncertain on how Hannibal is talking the talk but not walking the walk. "Well, if you were so confident...where's Jasper?" Chase said. "Ah, wondering if I managed to get Jasper back right? Well, we did ally for a bit, but Amethyst, Steven, Jack, Peridot and Raimundo managed to get the drop onto us." He said. "Jasper fought Amethyst and Raimundo before Amethyst and Steven fused." "So, that's why Wuya had that sense." Jackson said. "Yea, I sensed another fusion and I was worried that it was Steven again...sure enough…yes, that was the case." Wuya said with her arms folded. "So, we got another Steven fusion to worry about." Chase said. "To make matters worse, This means that Steven could theoretically...could fuse with either Pearl or Garnet." Wuya added. Chase nods, knowing that if Steven fuses with them, his potential is increased.
"Yea, yea, Steven managed to fuse with Amethyst. So what? Jasper fused with a corrupted monster and still lost to this "Smoky Quartz" along with Raimundo joining in on the fun." Hannibal added. "That's the name of Steven and Amethyst's fusion? Smoky Quartz? Bah, not a great name to be honest." Wuya said. "Wait, wait, Jasper fused with a corrupted gem? What happened next?" Chase said "Glad you ask…Jasper began to be corrupted herself and she mentioned that her Diamond was Pink before she was taken down by Peridot and her metal rod. Apparently, Peridot had metal powers." Hannibal added. Wuya and Jackson were stunned. Jack WAS right on the money on Peridot's potential. Wuya glares at Jack with a hint of anger. "Chase…" Wuya said. "Look, before you get really angry and make a bit of a rant, I doubted Peridot's potential…not her capabilities. I know Jack saw more potential than I could, but I was looking long term. Peridot's metal powers would be questionable at best at this point in time." Chase said.
"Oh, hush up. If you knew this, you could've given us an asset to work with." Wuya said in an accusing matter. "Look, Wuya…I know Peridot would've been the asset to get to keep Jack around, but each time I use the Crystal Glasses, there was too much of an unlikely for Peridot survival of being a Heylin. I could try to move the heavens, the earth, heck, even the moon to keep Peridot, and it would make minimal difference. That's why I couldn't do anything to keep Peridot around. It would cost too much energy for little significance." Chase explained. Wuya began to calm down. She knew that Chase had a decent enough point. Besides, Chase is a guy that always has some kind of ace up his sleeve. Wuya lets a bit sigh. "Alright, if you want to roll this kind of dices, be my guest...but with you two failed in your objective...I'm no longer benched." Wuya said. "That is true. Hannibal failed to get Jasper, I had failed to get Jack back and as a result, yes, you are no longer benched." Chase said. Wuya smirks a bit. "Excellent. Now I can really show those Gems that they messed with the wrong Heylin." Wuya said.
"I like that dedication." Hannibal said. "Yea, besides I told Katnappe that in the future, we could march onto Beach City and battle them." Wuya said. This made Chase a bit hesitant but Hannibal really liked the idea. "Oh la la, that's something I really like." Hannibal said. "Are you sure that is wise Wuya?" Chase said. "I mean, we only have 7 wus, and yea, I know we could use the Glove of Jisaku to steal a few wus, but the Gems could pull more aces out of their sleeves, plus with Jack allied with the Monks and Gems, the Rock Creatures are more limited since they'll be distracted with Jackbots potentially." Wuya was not buying it. "Hush up, Chase. Yes, Jack could be a major issue if left unchecked, but I doubt that he'll stay onboard with them long term." Wuya said. "Once we show our might, He'll switch back and will get a small piece as compensation for betraying the Monks and Gems at the right time."
"Yea, besides, when I inform you about Rose's secret when I believe the time is right, it'll shake them up so much that they'll fall and will never recover." Hannibal added. "Okay, when are you going to reveal this "secret" on Rose Quartz?" Chase said. "I believe it would be best in like a few months or so…Besides, I want to milk you guys as much as I can and see if it's worthwhile for it." Hannibal said. Chase softly places his hand on his forehead. "Sometimes, I wonder why I let you in if you aren't going to be spilling beans easily, Hannibal." Chase said with a slight frustration tone. "Heh, You'll learn… in due time, Chase." Hannibal said as he walks away. Wuya and Jackson leaves. Chase sits down and began to reflect a bit. 'Do what must be done, Chase…do not hesitate and do not show mercy when the time is right.' Chase thought. 'if only they knew what I saw.' Chase then pulls out the Crystal Glasses and looks at it. "Let's hope that fate isn't wrong." Chase said to himself. He puts it in a box and secretly puts the box behind a safe that was behind a painting. He then feels one of his tiger nudging his leg. "Don't worry, Maui, You'll get fed very soon." Chase said as he looks at his silver tiger, Maui. Maui roars softly as Chase and Maui heads out.
