Chapter 10: Battle against the Best - II
"The break is not over, with both trainers please send their Pokemon?" The referee asked
"Drapion, standby for battle", Trent said. A large, purple, scorpion-like Pokémon appeared
"Aggron, go!", Reggie said, sending out a Steel/Rock-type Pokémon
"Drapion versus Aggron, begin!" the referee said
"Drapion, use Aqua Tail", Trent Commanded
"Aggron, Earthquake", Reggie yelled
Drapion's tail becomes surrounded by a light blue aura, with water swirling around the tip, and it hits Aggron with it. Aggron takes the attack with full force and stands his ground, thanks to its high defense. Then, Aggron slams his foot to the ground causing a great tremor, forcing Drapion a few steps back, causing a lot of damage.
"Draipon, No!, Use Dark Pulse", Trent said
"Use Iron Defense, now", Reggie countered
Drapion points its claws at the opponent and fires a beam of purple and black rings of energy from the insides of its claws at the Aggron, whose's body becomes outlined in light blue and its body briefly shines, increasing Aggron's defense. The Beam of purple and black rings of energy hits Aggron with did not cause any damage to it
"Use Pin Missile", Trent said
"Aggron, Iron Head, Straight on", Reggie shouted
Drapion's claws glow white and are raised above its head, where a thin, white line forms and connects them. Drapion thrusts its claws forward and shoots white streams of pins at the Aggron. The steel plate on the top of Aggron's head glows white and its body becomes surrounded by a white aura, making it seem black and white. Then, a white aura-covered Aggron slams into the incoming white streams of pins, destroying them and heading straight toward Drapion
"Drapion, Switch to Iron Tail", Trent commanded, hesitantly
Drapion quickly stops firing white pins from its claws and its tail started to glow white and it hits the white-aura-covered Aggron with it. The power struggle started for a few moments in these two strong pokemon before Aggron pushes a strong head blow and knocked Drapion a few feet away with its brutal strength
"Aggron, Now Earthquake again", Reggie said
Aggron slams his foot to the ground shaking the battlefield and forcing Drapion on the ground, who didn't see the incoming attack due to being fazed by Iron Head
"Finish it with Heavy Slam"
Aggron jumps into the air with its arms crossed and then unfolds them as a silver aura surrounds its body. It then slams its body onto the Drapion, thrusting it onto the ground. Due to the impact of the strong steel type move, dust surrounds the area where Aggron hits Drapion, when the dust clears, Drapion is lying on the ground, unconscious, with Aggron standing by its side
"Drapion is unable to battle, Aggron is the winner!" The ref announced.
"Return Drapion, Thanks buddy for all the Help", Trent said as he returned Drapion to its Pokeball, "Infernape, I choose you", He said, sending his starter
"Aggron versus Infernape, begin!" the referee said
"There is no point holding up, Aggron use Earth Power", Reggie Commanded
"Jump and use Mach-Close-Combat combo", Trent said, confidently
Aggron's body briefly flashes with yellow energy and he slams his fist into the ground, creating glowing gold cracks that travel at the Infernape, who jumps high in the sky, easily avoiding the attack. Then, in the air, Infernape's fist glows light blue and it punches the Aggron with high speed. Then, without any delay, Infernape repeatedly punches and kicks the Aggron at a fast speed, knocking it many feet back. If not for its high defense, increased by Iron Defense, Aggron would have been knocked out after being hit by fast and strong super-effective moves
"Damn it, it's just too fast and strong, We can't take much more", Reggie said as he realise the battle situation, "Aggron, use Giga Impact", He commands his Rock/Steel Pokemon
"Infernape, use Flare Blitz", Trent yelled
Aggron's body becomes surrounded by an orange sphere of energy. Then, the orange color fades and turns purple, with orange streaks of energy that spiral around the orb. Latios then rushes to Infernape. On the other side, the flame on Infernape's head extends and covers its entire body. Infernape then slams into the Aggron with great force. Both the attacks collided, forming a strong dust blowback at the stadium. After some struggle, Both attack blasts and Pokemon stand in front of their trainer. The degree of the attacks is clearly visible in both Pokemon, Infernape, suffers from the attack recoil, whereas, Aggron, have to charge and is unable to move for sometime
"Aggron, once you will recover, use Dragon Claw", Reggie commands as he has to fight on the close range now or Infernape will just dodge and will use his combo moves to knock Aggron out
"Infernape and use Close Combat", Trent said banking on his starter's speed and agility
After a few moments, a light-green aura forms around one of Aggron's hands and turns into a claw-like shape. Aggron then strikes the Infernape with the claws, who quickly dodges the attack and started to punch and kick Aggron at a fast speed
"Now Thunder Punch", Trent commands to his victory
Infernape's fist becomes surrounded by yellow sparks, which grow into a ball of electrical energy. Infernape then punches Aggron, right in the face, knocking it to the ground.
"Aggron is unable to battle, Infernape is the winner!" The ref announced.
"Thanks, Aggron, you really give that one a real fight," Reggie said as he returns Aggron and chooses Staraptor on the battlefield
"Infernape versus Staraptor, begin!" the referee said
"A rematch, huh, we won't hold down, Infernape, use Calm Mind", Trent said
"That's interesting, use Agility", Reggie said
Infernape closes its eyes and its body glows brightly. Then, it opens its eyes, and they start glowing brightly as well, raising its special attack power to the maximum. Meanwhile, Staraptor's body outlines briefly glow white as it disappears and reappears multiple times increasing its speed further
"Use, Aerial Ace", Reggie started
"Thunder Punch", Trent countered
Staraptor disappears and reappears in front of Infernape with a white trail of energy behind it and hits Infernape if its Beak which is surrounded by white streaks of energy, pushing Infernape back with the super-effective move. Infernape, somehow, stands tall on his ground and hit Staraptor with a fist surrounded by yellow sparks and a ball of electrical energy, pushing it back.
"Go!, Wing Attack, Staraptor!", Reggie shouted
"Infernape!, use Blaze Kick", Trent said
Staraptor's wings shine and then glow white. It then hits Infernape with one of them. Infernape countered with his kick, surrounded by red-orange flames. Both attacks push the Pokemon a few steps back
"Staraptor, Use Double Team", Reggie said
"Flamethrower on all of them", Trent countered
Staraptor's body glows white and creates multiple copies of itself. Infernape releases a red-orange stream of fire from its mouth at all the copies, which vanishes after the impact from red-hot flames
"Staraptor hit it with Brave Bird", Reggie yelled
The real Staraptor flies away from the hot stream of fire. Staraptor pulls in its wings and dives down at the Infernape like a missile, its body bursting into flames. Then, it pulls out its wings, its body becomes surrounded by a blue aura
"Flare Blitz, Now!", Trent shouted
The flame on Infernape's head extends and covers its entire body. Infernape then slams into the Staraptor's blue-aura-covered body with great force. The collision of both attacks creates a combination of dust and smokes. When the smoke and dust clear, Staraptor is lying on the ground, with black swirls in its eyes, and Infernape just managed to stay standing up, with clear marks of fatigue and damage.
"Staraptor is unable to battle, Infernape is the winner!" The ref announced.
"Thanks, Staraptor, Just a little more, Go Torterra", Reggie said as he switches to his Grass/Ground Pokemon
"Infernape versus Torterra, begin!" the referee said
"Infernape, use Flamethrower", Trent started
"Stone Edge to protect yourself", Reggie said
Infernape releases a red-orange stream of fire from its mouth at Torterra. On the other side, Three blue rings surround Torterra's body. Then, the rings glow white and form into chunks of gray stones that circle around Torterra's body and protect it from an incoming wave of fire.
"Now fire those Stone Edge", Reggie yelled
Torterra's eyes then glow green and it fires the stones at Infernape.
"Close Combat to destroy them", Trent countered
Infernape started to destroy the incoming rocks with fast punches and kicks but a few stones hit Infernape knocking it to the ground. Infernape stands up after a few struggles and somehow manages to stand up and not to give in to his Trainer.
"Now use Earthquake, Torterra", Reggie said
"Jump and use Overheat", Trent countered
Torterra slams its foot on the ground, shaking the whole battlefield. Infernape, jumps high in the air, avoiding the attack. Infernape's body turns red and started to gather the energy to release a powerful orange-yellow fire from its mouth.
"Torterra, use Frenzy Plant", Reggie shouted
Torterra's body becomes outlined in a green aura and it slams its front legs into the ground. Giant, spiky roots then come out of the ground and strike the Inferpane, who is still charging its attack and unable to dodge, taking the hit to full force. Infernape hits on the battlefield knocked out.
"Infernape is unable to battle, Torterra is the winner!" The ref announced.
"Thanks, Infernape, you did your best, I promise I will win this for you", Trent said as he returns his starter back to its Pokeball. He grabs another Pokeball and said, "Magnezone, Go!" A robot-like Pokémon which resembles a UFO appeared on the battlefield
"Torterra versus Magnezone, begin!" the referee said
"Magnezone, use Magnet Rise", Trent said
Magnezone's body becomes surrounded by yellow energy preventing any hit from any ground-type moves.
"So this is not over yet, Torterra, Leaf Storm", Reggie said, hoping for a quick victory
"Magnezone, Use Mirror Coat", Trent countered
The leaves on the tree on Torterra's back start to glow light green, and it releases a cyclone of wind and glowing light green leaves from the tree towards the Magnezone, whose body becomes surrounded in a glowing reflective aura, which reflects the barrage of leaf back to Torterra with double strength, who didn't expect this and took attack with full force.
"What! he knows Mirror Coat!", Reggie said in shock
"Now use Zap Cannon", Trent said in confidence
Magnezone releases a blue-green ball of electricity from its red pupil at the Torterra, who took the attack on its head
"Torterra, Use Frenzy Plant", Reggie said, a bit hesitant
Torterra, trying to repeat the mighty grass-type move but then a few sparks of electricity, paralyzing it
"Now Magnezone, Use Tri-Attack", Trent yelled
Magnenezie creates balls of energy on its red pupil and two large magnets, all with different colors. It then fires an Ice-type move from its red pupil, a Fire-type move from the left magnet, and an Electric-type move from the right magnet. The Ice-type move hits Torterra on its head, causing major damage
"End it with Flash Cannon", Trent said
A white orb of energy with light blue energy forms in front of Magnezone's body, and it fires a white beam of energy with light blue energy from it at the Torterra, which hits Torterra in the face, slamming it to the ground, knocking it out.
"Torterra! NO!", Reggie shouted
"Torterra is unable to battle, Magnezone is the winner!" The ref announced.
Reggie returns Torterra back to its Pokeball and shows his last Pokemon, a battle-wounded Froslass
"Magnezone versus Froslass, begin!" the referee said
"Froslass, use Wake-up Slap", Reggie said
"Protect", Trent said
Froslass floats up to the Magnezone and tries to slap with but is met with a turquoise force field that comes out and surrounds Magnezone.
"Now use Flash Cannon", Trent yelled ordering a super-effective move
At a close distance, Magnezone fires a white beam of energy with light blue energy from it at Froslass, knocking it to the ground. Froslass, somehow, manages to stand up but from the looks of it, it won't very last for it.
"No! I will not end it like this, Froslass, use Destiny Bond", Reggie shouted in desperation and anger
Froslass's eyes started to glow purple but then suddenly, Froslass was surrounded by a spiral of red-orange fire. Froslass cried in pain and knocks out. After a moment, both Trainers realized that it was the effect of Fire Spin from the earlier battle with Infernape. Infernape, who got knocked out but still impacts the outcome of the battle.
"Froslass is unable to battle, Magnezone is the winner and the match goes to Trent Fernandez of Eterna City!" The ref announced.
The crowd erupts after such a marvelous battle, they just witness, Both Trainers and Pokemon's, giving their best, till the very last.
Trent runs to Magnezone and hugs it tight, Magnezone, nodding in respect. Reggie, Also returning his Froslass after a few words of appreciation goes to Trent
"Good luck for the Driftview", Reggie said as he forwarded his hand
"Thanks, Reggie, that was really a great battle, your Pokemon are really strong", Trent said shaking his said. Then, they both look at the big screen showing a large screen with Trent's image showing up on the 19th of 32 boxes, showing the trainers who are qualified for the Main Round of Pokemon World Driftviel Championship, with the blank boxes denoting the winners of upcoming battles.
Both Reggie and Trent go to their dressing room with lots to think about and excitement for their upcoming journies.
