Tony: by the way, you are familiar with the sports festival system, right?" he asked Peter
Peter: oh yeah. The support, business, general studies and hero courses come together and fight through preliminary games of different types by class year. The students who make it through face off in the finals. It's a round-robin tournament divided by grade.
Tony: good summary. In other words, you can sell yourself with everything you've got
Peter: yeah, got it
Tony: just remember, the most important thing is the mindset. There two types of heroes those who aim to the top and those who stand still, not a problem with though. But can't expect to win if your mind's not in it, kid. I want you to understand how you feel, and this is more for me than for you. I won't force you. Just I hope you won't forget how you felt back at the beach park" Peter looked away
It was after three in the afternoon, classes were over, everyone was ready to go home, hang out with friends or whatever it was teenagers do. But didn't seem to the case for Class A
Wanda: eh... what's going on?" she asked as she and the rest of Class A looked confused seeing outside of the classroom was a crowd of other students, blocking the doorway of the room.
Azari: is there a problem?" he asked the crowd "or any particular reason you have with Class A?"
Kei: yeah, you're kinda blocking the way! Are you holding us hostage!?
Flash: scouting the enemy, idiots" he walked towards the door casually, his hands in his pockets and pack sling around his shoulder "we're the ones who made it out of the villains' attack" Kei shook pointing at the dark hair boy looking at Peter, who shrugged his shoulders slowly shaking his head knowing at that's just how his former bully was, showing no fear or hesitation to anyone "they probably wanna check us out before the sports festival" he stopped in front of the crowd "well now you seen the face of the future number one hero. Now move it, extras!"
Azari: you know just because you don't know them, doesn't mean you shouldn't call them extras!
"I came to see what the famous Class A was like" they looked to see someone walking through the crowd, it was revealed to be a girl around their age, she had long black hair that was braided in a long ponytail, brown eyes, light tan skin and had a slim athletic figure, she was a bit shorter than Flash as she was approached him "but you seem pretty whole of yourself. Are all the students in the hero course like this?" while Flash glared at her a slightly, Peter, Wanda, Azari and Kei had worried looks and Gwen had a excited look thinking there was going to be a fight "seeing something like this makes me disillusioned. There are quite a few people who enrolled in general studies or other courses because they didn't make it into the hero course. Did you know that? The school has left those of us a chance. Depending on the results of the sports festival, they'll consider our transfer into the hero course. And it seems they may also transfer people out. Scouting out the enemy?" she explained as she than looked to the rest of the class that gave a mixture of looks between challenging looks, concern and confusion, but didn't change the girl's attitude at all "I, at least, came to say that even if you're in the hero course, if you get too carried away, I'll sweep your feet out from under you. I came to declare war"
Azari: she's quite bold as well
Peter: didn't hold back at all" there was a brief moment of silence between Flash and the girl, Flash wasn't prejudice wouldn't think of harming a woman, but in order to be the best he couldn't hold back or tip toe around it, if this girl wanted a fight he'd give her one.
"Hey!" they looked to see a young African-American male with a muscular build. He was about average height and had blond hair and brown eyes "I'm from Class B. Heard you guys fought against some villains, so I wanted to check you out. You're not half bad, but don't think you're better us!"
Peter, Azari and Wanda: there's another one?' they thought seeing the young man, but Flash just walked away down the corridors ignoring everyone
"Hey, don't ignore me!" the man called out, still not getting Flash's attention
Luke: hey Flash, aren't you gonna say something? You are kinda the reason everyone hates us
Flash: whatever. Doesn't matter" they looked at him confusedly "I'm gonna beat all of you and rise to the top" he finished saying as he kept walking. The others watched him leave, for Peter he could understand his ex-bully's perspective, everyone in their class or in fact in their school has goals just like him, some more honorable than others, if he wanted to win, he had to give it his all and get stronger and better. And he wasn't the only one inspired by Flash
Luke: okay I gotta admit that was pretty cool
Tyrone: it was a little bit cool, but still jerky
Amadeus: you said it" Danny nodded
Danny: I didn't want to believe it, but there is some truth in it
Pietro: he basically put targets on our backs!
Kei: now we all have enemies!" Laura and Seol smiled while Riri shrugged her shoulders and Robbie left the room "we'll just be at a disadvantage at the sports festival!"
'The M.A. sports festival is in two weeks. It's gonna be broadcast live on TV, too. There's no doubt that those who do well have a much better chance of becoming pro heroes. We won't know what events we'll be participating in until the day of. But everyone has started getting ready'
Class A was divided into different locations during the weeks to carry out different training regiments to improve their Quirks and bodies
Peter decided to run on the pier focus on to increase his strength and endurance, he didn't think his webs would do much in a open area, staying in comfort of his home
Outside of the courtyard, Pietro was running in high speed to accelerate more in a open area. Inside the courtyard gym, Flash and Luke used the gym, Luke bench pressing a 100kg barbell weight while Flash did squats while having his Quirk symbiote tentacles to lift weights, to increasing their muscles and endurance
Inside the USSR under the supervision of a recovery Jocasta, Wanda used her telekinetic hex bolts maintaining concentration levitating several debris at the same, helping Gwen and Sam with a obstacle race, Gwen used her Quirk to create portals and escape traps down below while Sam with his helmet on flew in the air in speeds swerving and dodging debris while firing his laser blasting them too, but trying to show off to the girls, he flew right into a debris head first dropping to the ground. Practicing for long distances Kamala doing a bar on the side of a building, stretching and retracting her arms
Out in the forest area of the school, Groot was already rooted in place, the nutrients of the soil and the sun were perfect for him to train stretching the roots in his arms and legs hardening them as for his partner Laura had set targets in the trees timed the time it took to pierce and slash them all, using her agility and razor sharp claws unfortunately it bothered and scared Groot with her screams of fury
On the other side of the USSR Amadeus was present, his training was different, even though he had a Hulk Quirk he wasn't smashing, he preferred to train another way, carrying a set of large boulders on his back while jumping building to building in the area to increase his strength and resistances in his legs. Creating ice path ramps skating around the practice city in impressive speed and agility was Seol
On another side area of the USSR Tandy and Tyrone trained together, Tandy creating and throwing several daggers made of light at her partner, who teleported to various locations of the area
Others prefer to train at their own homes such as the martial artists like Azari and Danny, Azari used a private highly advanced technology training room designed by his aunt Shuri where he spun his staff swinging combining mixed with leaping and kicks for combos. Danny meditated in a dojo respective by his parent's school, concentrating on his chi and his breathing. And though not a martial artists Robbie was at his home in his garage punching a old punching bag with a black 1969 Dodge Charger in with him
Finally the ones that didn't train their bodies, but their minds. Nico sat in her room with one her mother's spell books open on her lap, reading and rereading several spells and names trying to memorized them or the ones she thought were most useful. Kei was in his room on his big canvas, trying to find better and more comfortable methods of drawing. And Riri was in the M.A.'s Department Studio, she was working on something that wasn't her armor, putting on her goggles using a blow torch to burn into whatever she was building
'Time seem to have fly by thanks to the training. Before we knew it, the morning of the Sports Festival was here'
At the Peter Household
Peter was putting on his shoes to head out the door
May: do your best out there and please be careful
Peter: I will
May: I'll watch and record the whole thing on high resolution
Peter: thanks aunt May" they smiled at each other "I'll see you when I get back" he went out the door
Outside the M.A. entrance way
Reporters and media were sealed off due to the recent attack, their bags and equipment had to be checked for precaution even with the big security increase and several heroes patrolling the site. Much of M.A.'s land area was occupied that morning, family, friends and simple fans gathered for the event. The main path leading to the school was lined with stands selling food, snacks, drinks, toys, games, masks of famous heroes for the kids. Several people ate, had fun and went to the arena for the event. Classes were separated in specific rooms to prepare themselves, right now the students were in their red gym uniforms
Gwen: aw, I wanted to wearing my costume" she was disappointed
Tandy: to keep everything fair, we can't
Gwen: huh?" Tandy sighed
Tandy: hero course students are the only ones in uniform as we face the other courses would be unfair to them" she explained
Gwen: ooh" she nodded
Luke: hey if I'm being honest, I'm nervous and excited at the same time. I wonder what we'll be up against
Tyrone: whatever it is, we'll have to face it head on
Nico: and try not to get hurt too badly in the process" Azari opened the door entering
Azari: everyone, ready?" he asked his classmates "we'll be entering in a bit"
Kei: oh Father in Heaven" he prayed while Peter exhaled
Robbie: Parker" he approached Peter
Peter: hm? Robbie? Something on your mind?" he asked as the taller boy stood in front of him which got the attention of some of their classmates
Robbie: observing things objectively, I can say I'm better than you
Peter:.. y-yeah" honestly he couldn't deny it, compared to his classmates, he hadn't had his Quirk as long as the others in using it, so it stood to reason that he was right in telling Peter he was better
Robbie: that being said, I know that between you and Williams, Iron Man is watching you. Both of you" he shifted his eyes to Riri, who scratched her head looking away as he looked back at Peter. Between Riri have a suit armor similar to the number 1 hero and seeing and hearing the hero spending time with Peter too, made him think the hero saw more potential in them to the others and he that he had a personal connection to them too "not trying to pry, but. I'm going to beat you"
Sam: man, what is with the declaration of war?" he asked looking at the two, while Flash looked at them slightly annoyed and Amadeus got up, getting between them
Amadeus: whoa, whoa, lets not start with threats" putting his hands on his classmates shoulders "lets just relax and-" Robbie moved his shoulder away from the hulk boy's hand
Robbie: we're not here to make friends" he turned to walk away "its a competition to see who's the best"
Seol: hey" she stepped in front of Robbie, putting her hand on his chest stopping him "you're getting a little too fired up, don't you think? Chill out" this caused Gwen to snicker
Gwen: he's fired up and she's telling him to 'chill out'" she was pointing out the pun between her classmates in their powers, while Seol sighed at her she looked back at Reyes with a small smile
Seol: but seriously? Its bad enough we might have everyone else coming for us, lets not fight each other" Robbie looked at her, feeling her hand on his chest it send a warm feeling to him that wasn't his Quirk, he couldn't describe it but he shrug it off and moved passed Seol
Robbie: this isn't co-cop" Seol slowly shook her head seeing him walk
Peter: hey, Robbie" he called out to Robbie making him stop and look over her shoulder at Peter "you're right, you are better me and probably all of us"
Amadeus: hey, Peter don't be too harsh
Peter: but we're all here to fight and give it our all. And with the other courses coming at us, gives us more reason to aim high" he said in determination "if you want to beat me, I won't go down without a fight. Like everyone else, I'm aiming for the top too"
Robbie: then let the best win
Jade and Julie: here's the next chapter
Jade: didn't mean to end it the same way NerdMaster19 did, but it seem to work
Julie: for Shinso's position/role, we'll just tell you its Emily - Synapse, didn't mean to genderbend, but with her powers in Telepathy we just thought it would fit
Jade: our friend All New Me has told us, not much her is seen in Uncanny Avengers so there isn't a clear page, but we're willing to give her Shinso's personality and position
Julie: also to let you know the kid who was in Class B was Evan Daniels - Spyke from X-Men Evolution, our partner Kurojinn planned him to be in the class and wanted to stay right by him keeping Evan in. We know Evan is Storm's nephew in the show and in the comics too, he has a relation, but in our version he isn't.
Jade: wouldn't make much sense with Azari and all. Cousins in the same school and not Azari not mentioning him through the story wouldn't make sense, Evan has no relation to Azari or Storm here, sorry everyone who loves the family relation between them, honestly we love it too, so we do feel bad about it really. But you know how the multiverse can be
Julie: and we wanted to add in a little Robbie/Seol moment in the end for fun
Gwen: definitely was fun in pun wise *snicker*
Jade: anyway we're about to start the Sports Festival
