"I said connect the magnetic accelerator to the Gravitic dampening compensators before connecting the magazine to the new anti-personnel railguns! You now have a building charge that can't be released due to the messed up connections you caused!"
Several clipped beeps and binary responses as the astromech cussed at her.
"Yes, I did say to connect that first you nutwit!" She snapped, pointing the hydrospanner at the offensive droid accusingly, "otherwise this AT-RP would have itself less time to fix its position in real space as it would be on its backside the entire time! Now turn off the power to the anti-personnel railguns and fix it! Or you'll be turned into spare parts for not listening like R9-P3!"
The astromech hissed out some choice words before going to do just that, allowing Jasmine to work on the improved Mass Driver that was the mainstay of the AT-TE walker. However, this one was far more deadly as it didn't throw rounds like the original did. The cannon was far more dangerous as she replaced the multiple ammo of a single one of her own design, spear like ammo that could pierce the armor of an AT-AT walker in a single shot before the round exploded due to its composition growing unstable once the plasma covering burnt away. Of course, the anti-personnel weapons had been replaced with railguns that were rapid fire cannons that fired explosive rounds at high speeds. Most of the ammo would embed itself into the thick armor of a target before exploding, but against softer targets it was instant death.
Jasmine had designed these before in another universe where traveling to another planet was as simple as stepping through a circular device that created wormholes. She sort of missed that universe, a lot of her designs were used in that place. However, given that she also had perfect memory but could forget on command, it helped her act normally around people. Thank magic for occlumency so she could easily recall those 'forgotten' memories, saving her life more than once. She put her hydrospanner back onto her belt as she hung off the barrel of the newly improved Mass Driver, pulling down her darkened goggles as she pulled out her personal welder to patch up some places on the armor.
This had brought back a small memory of her Uncle Vernon when he found her studying an engineering book, despite what the family had tried to keep from her. He had looked perplexed when she asked him to explain the difference between an eight bit and sixteen bit, given that she had not understood the concept. Given the man sold drills, he actually knew the tools needed for the workers that build the buildings humanity used. Soon, she learned many things from her rather knowledgeable Uncle. It was from him that her need to create and build grew as Vernon helped her learn more about this rather valuable skill. Vernon had told her that engineers were very well paid and people like them made sure new things were proper jobs that he would have expected from normal people.
Petunia had been rather perturbed at this but gave up as her need to build, to create, would not leave and she had to admit that "those people '' would have to get a wake up call of the highest order. Something that Vernon agreed with and had the schools know that the 'reason' Jasmine had been getting lower scores, was because she had been trying to get more knowledge on more advanced subjects to impress her aunt and uncle but at the cost of her current studies. Soon, Jasmine had excelled in school and was outclassing everyone. Vernon had smirked at that when other girls of the class came up with less then impressive scores, smugness easily seen as the Dursley's accepted Jasmine because of her willingness to be like normal people.
The memories faded as she finished welding the panel into place before making sure it stayed there by using a hydraulic tool that would fire bolts into the metal sheet and the sheet below it. Pulling away, her magic alerted her that her proximity wards had gone off. Looking up, she was met by the most insulting thing to her vision.
"WHAT THE BLOODY HELL ARE YOU WEARING AND WHY IS IT SO OUTDATED?!" Jasmine barked, pointing her tool at the offending figure made out of black armor weave.
Darth Vader was taken aback as he was pointed at with an accusing bolting tool, like the finger of his master. The glowing green eyes stared at him, no, through him as she jumped off the modified AT-TE. Landing like one with the Force, she stomped right up to him without any fear as her eyes blazed with anger that was purer than any he had ever conjured.
"WHY ARE YOU WEARING SOMETHING THAT IS FROM THE DARK AGE OF THE JEDI-SITH WARS?!" She snarled, yanking at his arm.
He was stunned from her actions before he was pulled towards a table as she hissed insults in a language he had never heard. He was forced to sit down before one of his gloves was pulled off as she sneered at the prosthetic underneath it.
"Look at this!" She snapped, hissing like some Krayt Dragon Brood Mother, "This is not only outdated but clearly in need of proper repairs! And the connection, whose bloody idea was it to have it welded to the nervous system directly! I will hang him by his own nervous system, the ruddy fool!"
She glowered at him with utter anguish, "How can you, Darth Vader, stand to have sub-par machines? I thought you were a mechanic or have you lost that skill after you became this?!"
Vader regained himself before he growled, "I have not lost my skills nor need them."
She gave him a look that only the clone medics in the 501st could give, "You, Mr. Sith Lord, are a horrible liar and clearly have issues with this very suit!"
Vader felt the anger building before she turned and looked at General Veers, who was looking at them with shock, "And who are you? Oh what, you're ATATCommnder21, thanks for the support."
Veers coughed into his hand before nodding, his composure back in place, "Indeed, but I was under the assumption that you wanted to meet me?"
She huffed, "Of course but you came walking in with the Supreme Commander in substandard equipment! Not only insulting my engineering senses but also the Empire as a whole. Seriously! What engineer would leave the Heir to the Empire in a suit that is clearly not made for his station?!"
Silence filled the room before the eccentric engineer rolled her eyes, "If I didn't know any better, I would say this is a recruitment pitch…But if the Empire is running on substandard materials and creations, you're asking for death. Whatever, what do I know?"
Vader had been rather impressed, given that she had noticed the machinery was asking for problems. While he couldn't do much due to his master, he was seeing hope for the Empire or at least the Executor. He pondered on if he should give her the 'pitch' before his General did, being smart and concise.
"Indeed," Veers said, "with the agreement of Lord Vader. I would be hopeful if you would be employed by the Engineering Corp. of the Executor. You, of course, will be placed as the Head Engineer with a few extras that will be fitting for someone of your skill."
"I smell a bribe in this proposal, what is it?"
Vader handled this, "Kuat Drive has finished the body of another Executor class but has not fully finished it. With your talent and skill, I believe it would be put to better use as an Engineering Warship."
She pondered that, "An Engineering Warship, huh. Nineteen kilometers all to myself to engineer and create weapons that will bring home the point that the Empire is supposed to be better than the Republic that failed it. If you can get it here within the month, I'll accept your proposal. I still have work to do however, unless you wish to see my test fire my latest creation?"
Veers looked calm but Darth Vader could feel the wonder flowing off of the 501st General, "What creation is this, exactly?"
"Oh, this is the AT-RP, or All Terrain Railgun Platform. New weapon being the Railgun that is a more straightforward version than the multi-ammo type Mass Driver," She explained, "Something I found out was something the Empire was sleeping on when they could do this."
The walker's massive weapon, from what Vader could see, was a heavily modified variation of the Standard AT-TE mass driver cannon. It was modified to have magnetic accelerators all across the barrel with the tip with a more boxy device that had multiple vents built into it. The cannon's pilot seat was heavily covered with multiple thick durasteel plates that were like a mouth that closed around the pilot for full protection.
"Railgun? Isn't that a weaker version of what we currently have?" Veers asked, perplexed.
"No, this is a far more straightforward version of the Mass Driver, but fires bolts of heavily modified and hardened durasteel alloys at even higher speeds!" She grins before continuing her exclamation, "using technology from Umbra and some from Mon Calamari. I have created an armor piercing weapon that simply will cause your heavily armored walkers to be asking for an upgrade."
The wall opened, showing a field before one of the MK II walkers was put into place, at a distance of around a thousand meters. Around three thousand meters back was a rare CIS Super Tank, fully powered too from what his helmet scanners were telling him. The AT-RP stood up as it marched out into the sun before taking aim and fired. A metal spike shot out of the cannon barrel, piercing the head of the MK II AT-AT walker with ease before the head exploded violently. Darth Vader blinked in surprise before the walker fell over before it was shot at again in the belly, seeing the metal spike shake and glow before it exploded as well.
"That was at twenty-five percent power and acceleration," She said proudly before looking at Veers, "Care to give the order for around, lets say, one hundred percent?"
Veers choked before nodding, "Very well, TAKE AIM!"
She blinked as the tank aimed at the further away super tank, as Veers snapped out, "FIRE!"
The shot was a blue of blue as it went through the tank, before it and the spike in the ground exploded with enough power that one would've thought that a capital ship sized turbolaser had fired instead of a railgun.
"By the force…that's one hundred percent?" Veers asked before looking shaken, looking at Vader with a bit of horror seen in his aura.
"Yep," Jasmine popped the last letter before turning to them, "so, when do I get my war ship and whom can I shoot to tell the buggers off that Jasmine Hel Potter is now working for the Empire?"
