The Freedom Fight Saga Episode 8: Cry Freedom

One day, at Furville, Dr. Eggman has gotten his Death Egg fixed up and is making an attack from the air, along with sending his robots to help with the conquest.

Through the speakers, Eggman announces, "Your attention, please! Everyone in this town is now the property of the Eggman Empire! Resistance will be met with mocking laughter and violence, not necessarily in that order!"

In the death Egg, Orbot is holding a microphone while Cubot has a tray with a cup and a small bowl on his head.

Eggman continues, "Victims will be roboticized and made my tireless, thankless slaves. Those with the pesky immunity will instead be legionized, conscripted into my army and used to hunt down their loved ones. If you have a preference, please inform the Egg Swats as they beat you into submission! WHA HA HA HA! Aaaand out! That will do for now!"

Orbot then asks, "About that 'immunity' boss - I thought you took care of it with the cosmic reset button?"

"No, unfortunately. Thanks to those meddling Freedom Fighters, many of them have been immunized to my roboticizer, but that still leaves plenty to subjugate!"

"Yeah… but ain't the roboticizer destroyed," Cubot adds.

"Indeed. And in addition to that, we're dangerously low on fuel and supplies after our last invasion of New Mobotropolis. Why are we making this detour on our way to the Shazamazon base?" Orbot replies.

Then Eggman says, "Firstly, I'll get around to fixing the roboticizer. They can rot in prison eggs until then. Secondly, Furville managed to survive one attack already and I won't stand for such an insult."

At New Mobotropolis, some of the Freedom Fighters are in the training room to do some training. The ones using the Training room are Sonic, Eve, Sally, Bunnie, Antoune, Amy, Fiona, Nic, Manic, and Sonia. Rotor, Nicole, Cream, Cheese, Chocola, Cosmo, Maria, Jazz, and Tails are watching the training session.

Sonic and Eve spin dash as Sally uses her Ring Blades to cut the robots and targets. Antoine does the same with his robots. Bunnie, Sonia, and Nic use their weapons to blast the robots as Manic and the rest perform their combat. Rotor and the others continue.

"Wow. Everyone is training really hard," Cosmo says.

"I have to agree. Sonic, Eve, and the others are amazing," Maria says, amazed.

"Chao Chao," Jazz says, excited.

"Chao!" Cheese and Chocola say with excitement.

Everyone continues with the training as the others watch. Soon enough, the training session comes to an end, and everyone walks out of the training room.

"That was great training everyone," Cream says.

"Yes. You all did a splendid job," Cosmo says.

Maria then asks, "I like to do the next training session."

"Sounds like a good idea. Cream, Cheese, Chocola, Maria, and anyone else who wants to join are welcome to use it," Sally says.

"Good idea," Rotor says.

Just then, Nicole senses something, "Sally, I'm receiving a distress call from Furville."

"Is it Dr. Eggman?" Sonic asks.

"I wouldn't be surprised if he is involved with his Death Egg," Eve says.

Nicole uses her nanites to listen to the event.

After that, Nicole says, "Yes. Dr. Eggman is there, and has already sent his robots to invade the town. He even has this robotic version of you, Sally. I suspect that was the Mecha Sally that Ken and Shadow were talking about."

"Looks like the people of Furville are going to need help," Sonia says.

Sally turns to the group, "Sonic, Eve, Jazz, Amy, and Tails. You go to Furvile and help them out. The rest will stay here in case Eggman sends other robots to the other towns."

"You got it Sal," Sonic says.

And with that, Sonic, Eve, Jazz, Amy, and Tails head out of the Training Hall and head towards Furville to stop Eggman's invasion. The group reaches the airport and fly the Tornado to their destination.

In the training room, Sally turns to Cream and the others, "Okay then, who wants to use the training room next?"

"We do!" Maria and Cream say.

"Alright then," Sally says.

Then turns to Rotor, "Rotor, can you and Bunnie be in charge of the girl's training. I need to discuss a few things with Nicole."

"Sure Sally," Rotor says.

"No problem sugah," Bunnie says.

Then Sonia says, "I can help if you like."

"Sure. We could use a hand to help train them," Rotor says.

Once outside of the training hall, Sally turns to Nicole and asks, "Nicole, you said that you've picked up some strange readings lately?"

"Yes. I've been detecting some strange readings, but for some reason, I can't pinpoint the exact location. All I can tell is that it's somewhere in the area," Nicole says.

Then apologizes, "I'm sorry I couldn't have any more details."

"It's alright Nicole. You were doing your best. But I have to wonder what it is. And I fear this could be Eggman, or perhaps some unknown enemy," Sally says, concerned.

She lets out a sign and says, "It's troubling when I didn't have to worry about Elias' behavior."

"You mean about him having to be away for a short while," Nicole suspects.

"Exactly. All Elias said was that he's going to be a way for a while, but he didn't really explain why. All he said was that he had urgent business to take care of. I agreed to help Megan with Alexis while dealing with my Freedom Fighter business, but… I can't help but feel that Elias is hiding something," Sally says, concerned.

"Don't worry Sally, I'm sure Elias will be okay, and the King and Queen trusts him. IYou just need to trust him that he knows what he's doing. Same with how you trust the others," Nicole says.

"I suppose you're right," Sally says.

She then begins to wonder, "Still, I can't help but wonder what Elias is up to, and why is he being secretive about it?"

Back at Furville, the attack continues.

One of the Mobian panics, "Which way do we go?"

Another Mobian calls out, "This way! We'll slip out along the edge of town and-"

Before they can do that, one of Eggman's robots appears before them.

They said, "Target acquired!"

One of the Mobians begins to fight off the robot as he shouts, "Go! GO!"

The other Mobians begin to make a run for it. However, they run into another robot.

This one is actually Mecha Sally, Sally Acorn's counterpart. Mecha Sally has a metallic blue vest, but her hands are silver, her midsection was silver with a black and red crystal or panel underneath her vest, black boots, black shoulder guards in place of the round brown shoulder guards, and blue legs. Her cheeks have silver disks and her hair has an extra pair of 'spikes' on the sides. Her tail is still brown.

Finding them, Mecha Sally says, "All will serve the master."

Soon, Mecha Sally, and the other robots begin to capture the Mobian and put them in capsules and containers, planning to take them to Eggman. They also destroy the homes as they capture the citizens, and Mecha Sally is helping control the robots.

Back in the Death Egg, Orbot reports, "Search teams report 70% of the citizens detained. Resistance is less than expected."

"And with my new army of robots, the Freedom Fighters won't stand a chance… how refreshing," Eggman evilly says as he rubs his hands together.

Meanwhile, not far from the city, Sonic, Eve, Amy, and Tails are on the Tornado and are soon over the city to see the damages Eggman and his robots are causing.

"There they are," Eve says.

"Then it's time to kick some robot butt," Sonic says.

With that, Sonic and Eve jump off the Tornado and begin to fight back the robots. Sonic spin dashes one of the Badniks, destroying it and freeing the ones it captures. Then Amy slams her hammer on the button of the capsule, freeing the Mobians trapped inside. Eve then brings out her sword and begins to use it to slice and dice the robots attacking the people, causing them to fall into pieces. Tails also drops some missiles and bombs that cause them to crash onto the robots, blowing them up.

"Sorry we're running so late, everyone," Amy says.

"You're in good hands now," Eve adds.

Sonic speeds over and says, "Just leave everything to the Freedom Fighters!"

The Mobians citizens of Furville cheer happily that they are being saved.

In the Death Egg, Dr. Eggman sees Sonic, Eve, Amy, and Tails on the monitors, and destroys his robots.

"Wha-?! N-?! THAT'S NOT FAIR!" Eggman shouts.

"How many times do I have to do in order to destroy you, or force you to give up, rodents!" Eggman shouts.

Hearing Eggman, Eve says, "We won't stop until we've saved everyone you've captured!"

"We'll never stop until we've honored the sacrifices of everyone who's fallen along the way! And we won't be through until we've kicked your flabby behind once and for all!" Sonic says.

"So you just keep pushin' is, doc. We'll push you back!" Eve says, and then spin dashes at one of the robots.

Just then, the Mecha Sally appears, "Big talk, but only talk. Surrender to the master."

"So this is Mecha Sally, huh," Eve says.

"Yeah. Sally is not going to like this," Sonic says.

"I wouldn't blame her if she wants to slice this one up herself," Eve says.

Then Mehca Sally begins to copy Sally's ring blades. Eve and ally soon begin to fight against one another, clasing their blades against one another. Sonic then spin dashes against Mecha Sally's head.

"Gotta admit, this is a lot different than the last Robotic Sally Eggman made when he used it to invade Knothole," Sonic says.

And this one sure fights as hard as Sally does," Eve says, and continues to fight.

Eve then uses her sword to hold back Sally's attack.

"Look at the bright side, at least you and Sally didn't get roboticized like I did sometime ago. 'Course I was a way cooler looking robot…" Sonic says, dodoing Mecha Sally's attack.

Amy slams her hammer against the robot, "Sonic? Less banter, more saving folks, please!"

"I agree, Sonic! We can joke about this later!" Eve says, and dodges Mecha Sally's attack.

"Would you two quit nagging me? Either way, this is leading the ground troops! I am saving folks!" Sonic says, and dodges the robot's attack.

"I'm not nagging!" Amy angrily says.

Amy then swings her Piko Hammer at the Mecha Sally. Sonic and Eve then perform a double spin dash at the robot from behind. Seeing the Freedom Fighters fighting, they know that they need to fight.

One of them shouts, "Come on! If the four of them can fight for our homes, so can we!"

With that, the Mobians let out a battle cry, bring out weapons, and begin to fight off Eggman's robots.

Seeing from the air, Tails says, "Yeah! That's the way to do it!"

Meanwhile, in the death Egg, Orbot sas, "We're rapidly losing prisoners and ground forces, boss. By my estimate, if we leave now, we'll have just enough power to escape and refuel in-"

"Fine!" Egman shouts and slams his fist on the tray, sending it flying.

Cubot happily cheers, "Finally! I'm free!"

Then Eggman commands, "Full retreat! Bring in Mecha Sally, but leave the Egg-Swats to cover us!"

Soon, Mecha Sally receives the order, "Orders received. Returning to base for Shazamazon Objective."

"Oh no, you don't!" Sonic says, and bounces from the robot, "You're not getting away that easily.

Sonic tries to capture the robot, but the Swat-bot grabs Sonic by his leg.

Sonic screams, "Gah! Tails! Bring her down!"

Tails soon begins to chase after Mecha Sally with his plane.

Mecha Sally says, "All ground units provide cover fire at these coordinates in three, two… one."

And with that, the robots begin firing at the Tornado, allowing Mecha Sally to escape.

Mecha Sally flies to the Death Egg and says, "Returning to base."

But the time, Tails is able to elude the attack, Tails see that Eggman and his robots are getting away,"

"Don't sweat it. I heard where they're headed," Sonic says, over the radio.

On the ground floor, Sonic says through his comlink, "You'll remember the place. Now help us finish the last of the robot. The sooner we save Furville, the sooner we can move on."

"Roger that!" Tails says, through the speaker.

Meanwhile, Eve and Amy continue to fight off the robots.

Amy sighs and rubs her forehead, "Whew! That's most of 'em."

"Yeah, but the citizens are really helping out with this," Eve says.

"Yep. All they needed was a little inspiration from the right heroes," Sonic says.

Then turns to the girls, "Bet I can take out more stragglers than you can!"

"Oh, it is so on, bro!" Eve says.

"Yeah! You're on!" Amy says.

And with that, the three Freedom Fighters begin to fight against Eggman's robots.

Back at New Mobotropolis, the rest of the Freedom Fighters are continuing with some training, patrolling, and living their everyday lives. Cream is with her mother, and Chaos' friends are with Rosie, Maria, Cosmo, and Galaxina.

Rosie says to Vanilla, "I have to admit, Vanilla. I'm surprised you have been allowing this for some time. I could imagine you weren't easily pleased with Cream's adventure with the others."

"I know. I'm used to a quiet life, Rosie, and I want my daughter safe. But at the same time, Cream could never pass up the opportunity to help others. I remember Amy and Eve telling me that Cream has the potential to be a great hero, and I believed them. And I'm glad to see how well Cream has grown. This way, she can start off safely. After all, the children under your care turned out to be quite extraordinary!"

"Aye, my little charges have saved the world dozens of times over. I'm sure yours have just as brave a heart," Rosie says.

Soon, the group arrives at the Civic Center where Sally and Rotor are talking to two old friends and former Eggman robots, Heavy and Bomb. Emerl and Big with them as well. They soon notice the girls.

"Hi everyone," Sally says.

"Hello Sally, Rotor, how are you all doing?" Maria asks.

"Hello Big," Cosmo says.

"Hello," Big says.

"We're doing fine, just showing our new Freedom Fighter recruits. Heavy and Bomb. They used to be part of the Chaotix until they decided to retire, but they decided to join the fight as the Freedom Fighters," Rotor says.

"Hell. Heavy. Bomb. It's very nice to meet you," Cosmo says.

"Hello," Maria says.

"Salutations. We are happy to return to service," Heavy says.

Bomb pings in reply.

"You see, Heavy and Bomb used to work for Eggman until they rebelled against him. Tails and I recovered their primary cores and rebuilt them," Rotor says.

"Amazing," Galaxina says. "So he's like Omega then?"

"That's right," Sally says.

As the group chat, Vanilla is holding the Tails doll for Cream. Unknown to the groups, the bulb on the antenna begins beeping as it stands up. Suddenly, a strange sound wave activities and strikes at the building, causing the area to crumble, the building to crumble and fall. That catches the Freedom Fighters and civilians off guard and begins to scream and panic. And people inside are starting to panic as well.

Rotor activates his battlesuit, and calls out, "Heavy! Big! Catch the Civic Center!"

"Okay!" Big says.

Soon, Big and Heavy begin to do just that.

Sally turns to Cream, "Cream! Start air-lifting people to safety! I'll join in a minute," Rotor says.

"Right away, Rotor!" Bunnie says.

Vanilla shouts, "Be careful, dear."

"Yes mama," Cream says.

Sally turns to Maria, Cosmo, and Galaxina, "Girls, you and I will begin evacuating everyone from the area."

The girls nod their heads and begin to do just that, and begin to help Sally with getting everyone outside the building away from the area.

Rotor flies up as he says, "Cheese, Chocola, throw Bomb towards the collapsing roof. Bomb, I need a blast to reduce the rubble and blow it back, got it?"

"Chao!" Cheese and Chocola reply.

Bomb pings in reply.

Cheese and Chocola pick up Bomb in the air.

"Good!" Rotor says, "On my mark. Three- two- one-!"

Cheese and Chocola throw the Bomb, and he explodes and Rotor fires his blaster. That reduces the rubble and blows it back like Rotor says. At the same time, Sally and the girls evacuate everyone in the area as Cream helps with some of the civilians in the center. Soon, everyone is saved. The citizens cheer as the Freedom Fighters gather together.

"That was a close call," Sally says.

"It sure was, but I'm glad that we're able to have everything pulled together and stop this in the nick of time," Rotor says.

Cosmo asks in concern, "But what caused it to crumble in the first place?"

"I'm not sure," Sally says, concerned.

Then sighs, "And this is one of the situations I'm worrying about."

"Don't worry Sally, I'm sure we'll do our best to keep the situation from getting out of control. While Sonic and Eve are away, we can do the best we can here," Maria says.

Sally smiles and says, "You're right. Right now, I gotta let Nicole know about the incident and see if Manic, Sonia, and the others can help."

The group then take their leave unaware that Elias, Sally's brother, has been watching from a distance.

Elias sighs and says, "I'm sorry Sally. As much as I want to tell you, I promise to keep this to myself and the new team being formed."

Elias then walks away, but also makes sure Sally and the others don't see him. As he walks to his destination, the conversation of himself and Harvey Who comes to his mind.

Flashback:

It all begins one night when Elias is walking towards the house in Knothole.

Elias knocks on the door and says, "Hello? Director Who? It's Elias Acorn. I'd like to speak with you."

Soon, Harvey Who opens the door, "Director, huh? I've retired from the Secret Service. Come in."

And Elias is escorted into Harvey Who's home. Soon, the two sit down.

"So what is it you wish to discuss this late at night," Harvey Who asks.

"Well, my father spoke highly of you. He said that during his rule, you were always there to watch his back before you retired," Elias says.

"Indeed, However, there are some causes that he doesn't fully heed my warning, especially with Dr. Ivo Robotnik. However, I feel that Dr. Eggman is the reason why you came," Harvey Who says.

"Yes. My sister and the Freedom Fighters are doing everything they can, but I feel that they can use some help. Also, Sally and I are having this bad feeling that something is a miss. Almost like, something is happening in the shadows. It's not much, but I have a feeling something is happening while Robotnik is getting more ruthless with his battles," Elias explains. "That is why I've decided to come to you. I have to find a way to help Sally with any more possible threats, and you're the only man who knows how to strike from the shadows like that. Please, help me."

"I trust your instinct, because it involves some of the enemies who haven't made their move in a long while. But let me ask you this, are you sure this is what you want?" Harvey says.

Determined, Elias answers, "Yes. I want to. I want to help protect my family, friends, and all of Mobius. My sister and her friends have been fighting against Robotnik for many years. I want to be able to help her fight any enemies that might try to attack. As prince and as Sally's brother, I feel that it's my duty to help her in any way I can."

"Now that's what I wanted to hear. I'm glad you don't take after your father-you think outside the box. Now-will you trust me- to help assist the Freedom Fighters?" Harvey says.

"Absolutely, it's why I came to you," Elias says.

"Good," Harvey says, "You must remember that all this must stay confidential from your family, and the others. The time you have things sorted on your end will be enough for me to recruit a team for you."

"Wait, slow down, what team?" Elias asks.

Harvey turns to Elias, "If you're going to assist them in the shadows, you'll need Freedom Fighters. Secret Freedom Fighters."

Flashback Ends:

Elias says in thought, "Secret Freedom Fighters, huh. Well, I trust on what Harvey Who is doing, and hope whatever team Mr. Who came up with it will be able to help the original Freedom Fighters with their battle from the shadows."

Elias continues to head to the destination with determination. He is determined to help Sally and the Freedom Fighters no matter what.
