Chapter 4

"Bella?!"

Edward came towards me and tried to take me in his arms. Jasper came between us. Edward acted as if Jasper had never moved. He was desperate to get to me. I moved away and back into the throne room. I wanted nothing to do with him. He was not my mate or the love of my life. He had thralled me to near the point of insanity.

"Ah, young Edward. It is good to see that you have arrived. Earlier than we anticipated since Caius has not sent Demetri to fetch you and your coven to come before us." Aro spoke coming to my side.

I noticed that Edward had frozen in place. Aro placed his hand on my shoulder as he looked to Jasper. Jasper came forward and gave Aro his hand. Alice was by Edward. Aro motioned for Felix to come over. The giant of a vampire did as he was bid.

"Major, I believe that you and your mates were leaving to discuss my proposal." Aro stated, he wanted us to leave.

"Yes, sir. Ladies." Jasper bowed his head and called both Alice and I with him.

Jasper had his hand in mine as we moved past Edward. For his credit Edward at least did not try to grab me. For that I was thankful. I am still so angry that if he tried to touch me, I would have gouged his eyes out. I am not a violent person by any means, but he did me dirty and I lost my life because of it and had been separated from my triad. I just want to know why? Why did he do this to me? I also wanted to know why Jasper and Alice had left too. Why had they allowed him to do this to me?

The heavy doors closed behind us. I could hear Aro begin to speak. Alice grabbed my other hand pulling me from the conversation on the other side of the door. She and Jasper walked on with me between them. I was so absorbed in my thoughts that I hadn't noticed that we had stopped walking. I had hardly noticed that neither were holding my hands anymore.

"Darlin', Bella, sit down please." Jasper's voiced pulled me to the present.

I looked around. It was my room that we were now in. Alice. Of course, she would know which was mine. Alice was sat upon the setae and was watching me curiously. The energy around her felt tense. But Jasper, well, he felt yet didn't feel like Jasper. There was something different about him. And not just the crimson eyes either. There was something primal about him. I did as he bid and sat on the chaise lounge in the sitting area of my room. Our room. I don't know.

"Bella, I.. I'm sorry." Alice said suddenly.

I swallowed thickly. I loved Alice dearly. Edward leaving me behind had hurt but Alice being gone had wounded me deeply. I just wanted to know why. The apology would have started the flood gates on me if I had been human still but now all that could happen would be the pooling of the venom in my golden eyes. My tears could never be shed.

"I.. I," I had begun, "just want to know why? If we're supposed to be a triad, I don't understand why you left me behind."

"Edward's thrall would keep your connecting to us as a triad from happening. We left to cut his thrall. Jazz and I were going to return without the other's so we could make the connection. But then I saw Laurent kill you. All of my visions of you disappeared after that. We left the rest of the Cullen's when that happened." Alice explained carefully.

Jasper then sat beside me. His energy buzzed around him. It was dangerous. It was exciting. I had never gotten to make a connection with Jasper before. It was sad now that I thought back on it. But also did Edward know that I was a part of their triad.

"Did Edward know?" I asked Alice.

"I don't know. He had never mentioned it to us, but we had never tried to hide it either." Alice admitted.

"I'll take that as a maybe." I said with a grouse, "Well what about you cowboy? What are your thoughts on all this?"

"At this moment I am happy that you're alive, darlin'." Jazz said with a grin.

He had a cute smile. I had never noticed it before. Damn, Edward had me so enthralled with him that I had never seen Jasper. I had never seen my true match because of the depressed forever teen. Alice was a force that would not be overshadowed. I believe that is why Edward couldn't block her out.

"What does the Major think then?" Alice asked scooting closer.

That was something else I didn't understand who was the Major? What was that all about? Aro had mentioned that before in the throne room.

"Who is the Major?" I asked.

Jasper sighed, "I have a split personality. I had it before I was turned. The vampirism made it permanent, and it has a life of its own with mine. I believe that is why we are a triad. I am both Jasper and the Major. Alice is my, Jasper's mate. While you, Bella, are my, The Major's mate. And as such the connection will flourish between you and Alice."

"Is that why Alice leaving hurt more than Edward being gone?" I asked suddenly.

"Must be." Alice said her own gold eyes brimmed with venom, "Even as a human you subtly knew."

"His leaving hurt but when I couldn't even get you an email, I felt wounded. Like a gaping hole was in my chest." I told her.

Alice leaned forward and hugged me tightly. She kissed my cheek as she pulled away. I had missed her so much. I had felt cold without her. But now was it just because Alice had gone or was it the absence of Jasper that had caused the cold as well. Getting that off my chest had opened the flood gates of questions and grief. Both were patient with me as I told them everything I had went through. My turning, the shapeshifters helping me, Leah becoming my best friend and travelling with me to Italy. How I helped end Victoria. Harry's death and leaving my dad behind to grieve my death. I listened as they told me about their lives, well what Alice could remember of her human life and her travels before she met Jasper. How she found Jasper up until they joined the Cullen's.

I felt for Alice. But I am glad that her visions brought her to Jasper. Also, her visions had told her of me. That explains why she tried so hard to be present from the moment I met her. It could be why Edward had been annoyed when she hugged me when I first came to the Cullen household. She had tried to introduce me to Jasper, but Edward got in the way. I have a sneaking suspicion that Edward knew about us being a triad. He believes that I am his mate, but I am sure that it is just on account that I am his singer.

I reached my hand out to Jasper. We had never truly gotten to know each other. Edward had made sure of that. I wanted to know him. I needed to know him. I didn't even have to tell him; Jasper knew what I wished. Alice started for him. He had a longer history than any of the Cullen's except for Carlisle. Jasper was a true southern gentleman. It was that trait that got him turned. Maria had made a great choice in turning him. She had gotten a huge advantage over the other's fighting for territory during the civil war. Jasper's split personality was coined as The God of War. He was singularly responsible for the mass genocide of thousands of newborn vampires. He had not come out unscathed. The bite marks all over his body told that story. He had opened his shirt to show me the marks. I didn't even think when I began touching the bite scars. Jasper froze under my touch. Alice held his hand.

"Keep that up darlin' and we gonna know each other REAL well." his voice came out a husky growl.

My gold eyes snapped to his red ones as my hand stopped. I wanted to know him really well. I wanted to know them both really well. Alice sudden movement caught our attention. I could tell that she was having a vision. It was short.

"We have company." she murmured just as a knock sounded.

I stood to answer the door. I opened the door to find Demetri on the other side with the rest of the Cullen family and Leah. She was standing at the back with her nose wrinkled. It was very clear that she was not happy that they were here. I waved at her, and she came to the front.

"Hey, Lee, Dem, what's up?" I asked.

"Aro requested that they be brought to you while he finishes up with Edward." Demetri answered hugging Leah to him.

I was both happy and yet unhappy to see them. I loved them so much and yet they picked up and left like I was nothing but an unwanted pet. I felt like I was abandoned like a bad dog they had not wanted. But Aro had his reasons. I looked over to the Cullen's Rose and Emmett looked as they always had. Carlisle and Esme were looking hopeful. They wanted to see me.

"Alright." I said opening my door wider.

The family came into my room and Leah and Demetri left me to it. Leah would have stayed but now that Demetri was in her life, they stuck together like glue. It was cute and I was so happy for Leah. She truly deserved to have her imprint. I sighed and shut the door, turning back to the room. Everyone had seated themselves around the room amongst the rest of the furniture. I returned to my place beside Jasper. Jasper wrapped his arm around me, pulling me closer to him and Alice in turn moved closer to his other side as he wrapped the other arm around her.

"Bella, I am so happy to see that you're alive." Esme began.

I could tell that she was sincere. Her eyes gave her away with her emotions. She was true to her words. Carlisle cleared his throat and asked what had happened. I told him. Victoria had been hunting me since they left. Laurent had been in the area and had done me a mercy. She was going to torture me, but Laurent did not see the need, so he took it upon himself to take my life. But the shapeshifters of the Rez intercepted and I changed instead. I told them everything that had happened. They wondered why Alice had not seen it. Alice could only guess that it must have been the Wolves. She couldn't see around them. She had initially thought I had been killed by Laurent. Thankfully, I had been changed instead. We spoke and they gave their apologies but the only thing I wanted to know was just why had they listened to him. They didn't have an answer. They seemed to be just as bewildered as I was. It was strange.

Another knock came to my door. I sighed and went to open the door. It was Jane. Aro had requested that all of us joined him in the throne room. It was time. I conveyed obedience and she turned to go. Alice and Jasper were by my side in seconds and the rest followed. The short walk back to the throne room doors seemed to take forever to me. The heavy doors seemed to be heavier than I remembered them to be from just a few hours ago. Opening them brought Edward back into my line of sight. He was on his knees before Aro and the other kings. He looked to me when I entered. His amber eyes lit up when he saw me.

"Bella, please."
