She had come to the agreement with Reborn that they would switch between healing and sentience training. She was firm in her opinion that both on the same day would be too much and he had to give his flames time to adapt.

Today they finally went back to their original training which most of them had no mind for after the last disaster.

She had once again made herself a blanket fort on the couch "Fon?"

"Yes?"

"Do you think your flames have changed?"

"I would assume so."

She perked up "What's the difference?"

"There is way more movement. I am not sure if you're aware but over the decades I always had to put a firm hold on them to not let them break out. I had to keep them contained at all times to not harm anyone or anything around me."

"This changed?"

"Not perfectly. How can I explain this… in a way they seem more intune with my nature. I have the feeling they would strike out more quickly in face of danger now but at the same time… on a daily basis? I don't feel the need to keep them contained that badly. They stay where they are supposed to."

Her eyes lightened up "May I?"

"May you what?"

"Exam them."

He nodded before sitting down next to her "How do you want to go about that?"

"I would let my flames scan yours… if that's alright?"

"Feel free."

Leilani nodded as she turned around to place one hand on his chest, at the exact spot where she knew his core would be and she slowly let her flames flow into him.

This… this was different. This was…

She really had to pause, letting her own flames actually mingle with his to fully get the situation.

To be honest? This was sentience. They were still clueless, very clueless but they were sentient! It worked! Fon had done it!

It was like his flames were similar to how her magic had been when she had been a child. Sure, they wouldn't react to spell incantations as they simply had no clue but… they were sentient enough to understand. They were working on themself to figure themself out. Even right now they were examining her own and it was almost as if her own flames were eager to share it with them, mingling around them, showing them how to flow.

She even had to wonder what happened when Nellos achieved sentience. Would his flames adapt to hers through the bond? Learn from hers? Become like hers?

Was this the key to how her magic had gotten her knowledge back in the wizarding world? Nurtured by her parents' magic? By the magic that had always surrounded her, that had stuck in every corner of her old world? Had she consumed knowledge while in her mothers belly? Had it just been passed on?

This… this was just so much she had never even considered and she could only stare in wonder as her flames seemed to nudge Fons in the right direction.

Fon sharply exhaled all air out of his chest the moment Skulls flames entered him.

It was the first moment he actually felt hers, genuinely intermingling with hers and letting him feel the full brunt of what they stood for. He felt her sky… her… flames. This…

He had problems swallowing. This was insane. Her flames were twirling through him, entrancing him and the way his own perked up, became livelier but not volatile. He was almost salivating. He wanted this.

Was this how Colonnello always felt? What he had? Fon had always known he wanted the tiny sky as his but… to actually feel her? To have her flames dangle in front of him? To have such a close taste of harmony?

Her flames were addicting. They were warm, unbelievingly warm, soothing. They tasted like home. Like a warm comforting cup of tea, a hug after a draining day, the feel of a comforting fuzzy blanket on a rainy day. He could only call them reassuring. It was as if as long as she was there everything would be fine. Everything would work out… everything would be alright…

And he finally understood what she always meant when she said it's gonna be alright. That it was fine. It actually was.

There was so much certainty in it.

To be honest, he had always had the image that they needed to protect her. That she was just so… young and petite and… it wasn't like this. She didn't need protection, he had always known that. She was strong but… he finally understood it.

He knew why Colonnello trusted her that much. There was no other way. One taste of her flames and he just knew.

Even with the way she usually screwed around and winged stuff there was just so much certainty in her. She was just there and this alone was enough. As long as she was there it would be alright, just because she was there.

Her flames proclaiming it at every little flicker.

He doubted even Reborn had felt it yet. Afterall… the sky next to him had never let her flames mingle with theirs like this. They had never played that much. She had never indulged any of them like that. Literally let her flames scan them that deeply. Let them feel hers to such a degree.

Fon was completely out of breath when she pulled them back. It ached in a way. He didn't want to let them go. He wanted to have hers permanently with him. The moment she pulled back he was already longing for them. It was almost like being lovesick for the very first time.

He never in his life had wanted a sky that badly. Not just a sky but… her as his sky.

His eyes caught onto Colonnello.

The rain just chuckled "I know, right?"

Fon could only nod.

The soldier laughed "Don't I have the best sky, kora?"

"You have… you… definitely have."

Skull just threw him a confused glance before pushing herself up "I'm gonna get my notes. It's all there. I think we actually have to teach you a bit more but I think a few more spells and we might be able to try putting some distance between us and it will work out. You up for it?"

He nodded, his attention completely concentrated on her now "Whatever you wish to do."

She raised an eyebrow at his tone but hurried upstairs.

The martial artist fixated Colonnello as soon as Skull was out of the room "I'm going to join you."

The rain raised an eyebrow "That certain?"

"I want her."

"well… Sorry to inform you buddy but… she not once has asked for another element, kora."

"It doesn't matter." his smile a bit sharpener "I will make her see."

"You're going to court her?"

"Not just that. I'm going to sweep her of her feet until she wants me as her storm more badly than anything."

The rain snorted "Good luck with that, kora."

Leilani had felt Fons eyes on her the whole afternoon. He had been an avid listener, adapting to her teachings as she helped him refine his finite, same as a few other stormbased spells she had learned in her first year. They didn't work flawlessly yet. Similar to a first year Hogwarts student but he had an insane understanding speed and it barely took anything for him to grasp the concept. His flames got better by the minute and she had to admit the observations of Reborns talent with flames even without sentience well… Fon with sentience?

It was hard to see him as a hedgewizard. Sure, he only had storm flames but the amount of them? The way he was wielding them even with his still limited knowledge? His flames would surpass her own storm flames in a matter of weeks at this rate. She even had the feeling that he would find even more uses the further he progressed.

It was almost scary. She had worked hard to keep all the more gruesome techniques hidden but…. Fon would be able to use them and… to this degree? By merlin. She was creating monsters. Actual monsters.

He didn't have the title as world's greatest storm without a reason. The imminent jump from before to now… Honestly?

She wasn't even sure if she could stand up to a normal wizard with her techniques. She wasn't useless but she didn't have proper training. She was self taught and well… she knew her magic was strong but… still… but Fon? His flame and his martial arts combined? The moment he got a hang of magic he would be… impossible strong. He would be able to defeat a wizard without any struggle. He would be able to do it alone. Only storm flames but still… Fon was a monster. A legit monster and she was helping him shape up to be a force almost no one could compete with.

Maybe she should regret this. Maybe there was an actual reason why this world didn't have sentience. Maybe this was the exact reason but… she wanted to be able to part from them… It couldn't be that bad, right?

Still her eyes doubtfully flickered over to him. Was she making a mistake?

He just smiled at her, a hunger in his eyes she couldn't quite place as he already filled up her mug again.

She was creating a nuclear weapon, wasn't she?
