Chapter summary : in which Metalhead is made.

The turtles had just come back from another mission only this time Donnie was humming happily to himself as he carried in some new parts he had found at the Kraang base. He wasn't the only one happy though because the youngest had a rare smile.

"You seem happy," said Leo.

"It's going to happen soon. I just know it," said Mikey with glee.

"And, what's going to happen soon?" asked Raph.

"Sorry, dude but I can't tell you it's spoilers. But it does have to do with Donnie staff."

"You mean the same stick that broke today when fighting the Kraang?" asked Raph. It was the seventh time this week when Donnie bo-staff decided to break.

"The one and only. But just you wait. Soon something cool will walk out of those doors."

Mikey did a backflip as he ran off to who knows where leaving Leo and Raph alone.

"At least he isn't thinking about killing this Shredder guy," said Leo.

"True," mumbled Raph.

Mikey was frowning as Donnie stood in front of their sensei.

"Where is it?"

"Not yet Mikey. Sensei I need to talk to you. It's about my weapon."

"Look Spike Donnie talking about his fancy stick," said Raph as he feed Spike the turtle.

"And, what troubles you my son?"

Mikey poke Donnie in the arm his older brother shoo him away.

"I can't keep fighting with a stick. It keeps breaking on me like all the time."

"I see. And, you bring this up because?"

"Because I want something new."

"Ah, an 7-foot staff. Interesting."

Mikey right eye twitch. Donnie took notice before pushing those thoughts away since he had other problems to deal with outside of his little brother odd behavior.

"No, sensei I mean modern day technology."

"Dee, where is it? Dee." begged Mikey.

Donnie had no idea what his brother was talking about.

"A solar-powered staff."

"I'm serious sensei. I want to upgrade my weapon."

"Come on Dee, just do it already."

Donnie grabbed a hold of Mikey stopping his brother from poking him.

"Mikey. I love you little brother. But I'm in the middle of a serious conversation."

Mikey gave him the puppy dog eyes. If he didn't look it will have no effect on him. Right? Right?

"And, I allow this."

"But sensei you don't understand…"

"I said I allow this," said Master Splinter. Donnie eyes lighted up.

"You mean it?"

"Of course. Ninjas have improved their arsenal for centuries. We are masters of adaptation."

"Dee," whined Mikey. "Where is it?"

"Let me get this right Mikey. Are you telling me I will come up with something cool?"

"Yeah, dude."

"And, it's better than my staff?"

"Nothing will replace your staff Dee, but that doesn't stop it from being cool."

"Will then in that case."

Donnie rushed over to his lab leaving his family behind.

"Ah man. More waiting," whined Mikey. Master Splinter smiled foundry.

Later that day April walked in with her father.

"Hey guys, check out this post I just got."

Mikey was fast asleep on the couch while Raph and Leo were in an intense video game.

"Hang on, April, I just have to destroy Lame-onardo."

Raph won much to Leo disappointment.

"So, what's up?" asked Raph.

"April been finding unusual sightings around New York. People send in pics and videos. She also got some stuff that may help you guys track the Kraang," said Mr. O'Neil."

"But I've been tracking the Kraang," Baxter was heard as he enter the lair. "I've been working on a new project that may be able to locate alien life."

He held out an odd device that looked like it was made from a spaghetti strainer. The small tiny satellite dish on top of the strainer spin and turned to the turtles beeping rapidly. Baxter smiled nervously.

"On second thought it still needs work. Like actually picking up on alien life and not mutants," said Baxter.

The small tiny little satellite dish then turned to Baxter and beeped rapidly. Baxter was very unimpressed with his own invention.

"Anyway here's a video showing a gas leak," said April as Baxter bang on his own invention.

"Neat. So, it should be able to help us find the Kraang then." said Raph.

One video popped up showing the Kraangdroid.

"Kraang?" asked a half awake Mikey. "Where? Me, fight. Me won't let them hurt my brothers."

"Easy Mikey. There is none here. You go back to sleep little bro," said Leo as he helped his brother lay back down on the couch.

"We go tonight," said Leo.

"Since when are you leader," sneered Raph.

"When Mikey needs sleep."

"So, you made yourself second in command?" demanded his brother.

"Of course not," said Leo. Raph glared. "Maybe."

"Will I ain't listening to you. And, beside. Why not now?"

"We don't want to be spotted Raph. Also Mikey needs his sleep."

"It is refreshing seeing your brother getting some sleep," said Mr. O'Neil.

"He sleeps better on the couch than he does in his own room," noted Leo.

"Will then it settles. Sounds like you guys are heading out tonight. April and I will keep an eye on any other strange events," said Mr. O'Neil.

"Stupid piece of tin can. I said alien life. Not me. I'm human. Human," said Baxter still wracking his own project.

The O'Neils and Baxter stayed around for the next three hours before the three humans decided it was best to go home leaving the turtles alone for the rest of the day. Raph went to look after Spike and Leo got caught up in watching Space Heroes with Mikey still asleep on the couch and Donnie still working away in his lab.

"There's only one thing we can do. Dr. Mindstrong must be destroyed." said Ryan.

"What a hero," said Leo.

He then heard metal noises and turned around to see what the fuss was about. It was Donnie walking with a strange little man. Mikey woke up.

"Where's the fight?" the youngest asked half asleep.

"Easy bro. It's just Donnie with something strange."

"Something strange?"

Mikey leaped up and looked in awe at the sight.

"Ah, yeah boy. Metalhead is in the house."

"Will I don't know about that Mikey. But yes, this is my new creation," said Donnie proudly.

Raph walked into the pit and stare at the strange thing that stood next to his brother.

"Gentlemen and Raphael, this is the future of ninjutsu."

"So, cool," said Mikey the happiest the brothers had ever seen him. Donnie wonder if he should build more projects similar since it seemed to earn a smile.

"Huh. I always thought the future of ninjutsu would be taller," Raph said bluntly.

"Isn't it cool? I reverse-engineered it from the Kraangdroid."

"Okay why?" asked Leo.

"So, cool," said Mikey in glee. His eyes still lighting up like it was Christmas.

"So the drone can handle the dangerous stuff while we stay out of harm's way."

"Oh, I get it. This is for wimps too afraid to fight."

"No, it's for wimps too smart to fight I mean-" Donnie paused as it dawned on him what he was saying.

"Chill bros. Nobody a wimp. Beside Metalhead will become a great help to us in the future. Especially in the war era," said Mikey.

"He does?"

"Sure does bro. He starts of shakily, but becomes great help in my future."

"Now with that I just want to see how he will work out in battle," said Donnie just as Master Splinter walked into the pit. "Sensei. I want to take Metalhead for a spin and see how will he does."

"Of course you may."

"But sensei that's totally unfair you have to-"

"Dude, he said yes," said Mikey.

"Wait? He did? I mean that's great. You won't be disappointed sensei."

"After all you have created this new weapon. We must see how well it works."

"Right, of course."

"But it's a test only. You will not be taking it out into combat," warned Splinter.

"Of course sensei."

Splinter nodded his head and walked towards the kitchen leaving the turtles behind.

"You're taking it into combat aren't you?" asked Raph. Donnie let out a giggle.

"Of course."

Both Mikey and Leo share a worried look.

"I supposed we can go out," Mikey paused. "I just don't remember if this goes well or not."

"It will go fine Mikey trust me," said Donnie.

The turtles found themselves outside on patrol. The only problem was Metalhead seemed to be setting off every car alarm in the street just by bumping into things.

"Maybe this was a bad idea," said Mikey.

"Should we go back? He seems to be setting off every car alarm in the street," said Leo.

"I love it. Blends in with the cry for help," muttered Raph.

"You guys are just jealous. And, I'm here eating Mikey pizza."

"I thought we agreed to leave the food for Mikey since he has trouble eating," said Leo.

"I don't have trouble eating," said Mikey.

"You eat the least out of all us," reminded Leo.

"Point taken," agreed the youngest.

"Hello."

"Hey, guys, quiet. Somebody's coming."

"Dude, Leo it's just April."

Leo was about to duck and hide for cover only to smile nervously when he saw April.

"Guys. I was just looking for you," April noticed Metalhead and let out a scream.

"Still, it's stealthier than the real Donatello." said Raph.

"What the heck is that?" asked April.

"It's Donnie's latest "brilliant" creation Metalhead," said Leo.

"Brilliant isn't it," said a joyful Mikey.

"I supposed," said an unsure April.

Radio feedback was heard and the turtles winched are the high pitch sound.

"Sorry about that April. I'm still getting used to Metalhead controls."

"Maybe this isn't a good idea yet Dee. Metalhead takes a while before he becomes a fully functional robot," said Mikey.

"And, you know this how?" asked a curious April.

"Mikey gets dreams," said Raph.

"I do?" Mikey asked.

"He does?" asked April.

"Yeah, he gets visions of the future."

Mikey frowned at the idea and April raised an eyebrow.

"Okay. But guys there is something I need to tell you and it's important. It's to do with the Kraang. There going to poison the city's water supply with mutagen!"

"Wait, what's mutagen?" asked Leo.

Mikey face palm.

"That fight with the Kraang went differently. I can't believe I forgot about that then again I forgot about the Kraang."

"Mikey?" asked April.

"Ah, don't mind him. He's just rambling to himself. He does that sometimes," said Raph.

"But be as it may. What's mutagen?" asked Leo.

"It's the green ooze that turned Splinter into what he is now."

"So, the ooze from Splinter story is called mutagen," said Leo.

"And, that's not all but if the town ends up in it they will end up as mutants," said Mikey.

"I knew it was trouble. But I didn't think it was that much trouble," said April. "And, did you really get all that information from a dream Mikey?"

"Ah, yeah. Dreams. April I want you to head back home somewhere it safe. Possible try to convinced your father to leave the town for a little while. We will take care of the Kraang," said Mikey.

April nodded her head and ran off into a different direction.

"Come on guys let's move out," said Mikey.

He winched as Metalhead ran into another car.

"Yeah, this might take a while," muttered Raph.

"Donnie I think you might need to stay behind," said Mikey.

"Stay behind. Are you nuts? I can help," said Donnie.

"Not as Metalhead bro. He's too clumsy and it will take him too long to get there."

"I'm coming Mikey and that's that."

Mikey frowned and rubbed the back of his head. "Alright fine. Come on guys."

The turtles had quickly found the Kraangdroids with Metalhead outside standing on the rooftop the turtles were inside and keeping an eye on the Kraangdroids. They took out a few and sneak around the building.

"So, that green stuff they're carrying is the ozze?" whispered Leo.

"Yep, touch it and you get mutated again. It's what the Shredder used to make himself stronger." Mikey paused and his eyes became distance. "It's one of the reasons why the war went on for as long as it did. But not this time. This time I will kill the Shredder while he's human before he even thinks of using this stuff."

"Let's just focus on the water problem first," said Raph.

One Kraangdroid noticed the turtles and alerted the others. There was a pause before the Kraangdroids started shooting at them they duck behind the pillars. The turtles put up a fight taking out as many Kraangdroids as possible, but they were soon being out number and overwhelmed and then suddenly Metalhead feel through the roof.

"Alright Metalhead," cheered Mikey.

"And, you wanted me to stay behind," said Donnie as he fire back at the Kraangdroids.

"You got me. Although I swear I'm forgetting something important," said Mikey with a frown.

"I'm sure it can't be too worrying because Donnie kicking shell out there," said Leo.

"Yeah, whatever," mutter Raph.

"Don't forget the flamethrower bro," said Mikey.

"Great idea Mikey."

Metalhead flamethrower popped opened.

"That thing which does violence at Kraang used to do violence for Kraang!"

Mikey frowned the moment he head the Kraangdroid speak.

"Something not right here."

Metalhead took out most of the Kraangdroids, but in the process got hurt and sparks flew out of his head.

Mikey eyes widen when he saw one of the aliens brains walked over to Meathead. He dashed over as quick as possible and picked the pink brain up and slammed him down to a wall.

"Donnie. It's from Kraang parts. Right?"

"Yes, it is. Why?"

"You need to fix that. Because Kraang can get control of Metalhead."

"Oh no, not good."

More Kraangdroids appeared.

"Donnie get here now."

"I am here."

"I mean the real you Donnie. Metalhead a great creation and will become useful to the war area effects, but he will never be able to be useful to the team right now. Like you are. So, get your shell over here Donnie and help out your brothers," order Mikey.

With Metalhead down the turtles went back to fighting the Kraangdroids. Leo and Raph had both doubted Donnie would actually show up, but Mikey had high hopes for his older brother and was sure his brother will appear at any moment now. And, just as the turtles got overwhelmed Donnie appeared just in time.

"New you will come bro," said Mikey. Mikey glared at one of the Kraang brains which was trying to get close to Metalhead. He stepped on it. "Make sure those Kraang don't get near Metalhead now move it."

And so, the turtles keep fighting and with Donnie by their side they were able to take control of the fight successfully winning. The day was saved once again.

With the help of Raph. Donnie was able to take the broken Metalhead home.

Mikey noticed his brother was still upset at the thought of Metalhead being able to get control by the Kraang. So, as Leo and Raph played on the pinball machine Mikey walked towards his older brother and sat down beside him.

"Hey dude."

"Hey Mikey."

"Still down?"

"A little."

"You know one day you will be able to get him working without the Kraang being a problem."

"I will?"

"Yeah."

"Mind telling me how I do it?"

"Sorry dude. My memory a bit fuzzy when it comes to the Kraang and Metalhead. I just know that the Kraang aren't an issue in my time."

"But Shredder still is?"

"Yeah. And, one day I will kill him," swore Mikey.

"You know Otōto you don't need to face him alone. You have us," said Donnie. Mikey eyes were distance.

"I've lost you guys once. I won't lose you again. Which is why you have to promise me something Donnie. When you do face the Shredder stand down. Because this is a fight between me and him and him and I only. Understand?"

Donnie looked hesitate, but nodded his head.

"Understand Otōto."
