Chapter 2

"Every time I work with our young lady here I get cold chills." Cooter said as he put down the General's hood. He ran his hand over the bright orange paint job and sighed. "God, she's such a beauty."

"Now quit trying to steal my lady from me." Bo laughed as he slid in through the drivers side window and settled behind the wheel. Cooter laughed.

"Well if she wants a chance of scenery, she knows where to find me.." Cooter laughed. Bo rolled his eyes.

"In your dreams hotshot." Bo said. "But you're welcome to come for a joyride with her and me. Maybe outrun Roscoe and Ennis a few times before heading home for the night." Bo laughed. Cooter smiled. He turned the sign around in his window from open to closed.

"Let's fire this baby up and hit the road." Cooter said. He climbed into the passenger seat that Luke usually took and they drove out of the garage. Just then, the phone inside the garage rang.

"Damn it!" Jesse yelled as he slammed the phone down. Luke had been trying to raise Cooter and/or Bo on the CB, but was having no luck. Jesse had tried calling the garage but had got the same results.

"We'll find him Uncle Jesse." Daisy said as she hugged him. Luke looked over at Jesse.

"What's so bad about John anyway?" Luke asked. "I don't even really remember him from childhood and Bo doesn't talk about him much. What exactly happened back then that makes you not like him so much?" He asked. Jesse sighed

"John use to be a great kid. He was the poster child for good deeps and the apple of Mary-Ann and Alan's eye. But when he became a teenager, everything went downhill…and he started to drag his little brother down with him." Daisy and Luke exchanged looks.

"What happened?" Daisy asked. Jesse stood up and grabbed a big bottle of moonshine. He filled a tall glass full of the strong alcohol and downed it quickly.

"If I'm gonna tell you kids this story, I need to be a little less sober." Jesse said. He filled up another glass and set down at the kitchen table. Daisy and Luke set down across from him. "It all started about, oh, fifteen years ago when John, who is six years older than Bo, started down a dark and dangerous road…"
