Chapter 5
My Dear Friend
I jumped at Ko, hugging him tightly. "I can't believe it's you! What are you doing here?" He hugged me back with the same enthusiasm.
"I decided to come to Ouran High School because there were more choices for schooling here. My old school didn't offer what I wanted. Besides..." He says in a soft tone. "I knew I would be able to spend more time with you." We continued walking, arms linked around the each other. Quiet while we walked, I looked at Ko several times until I was sure he was there.
"Well... I am really glad you did! I missed you." I rested my head on his shoulder.
"I missed you, too, Haruhi." The silence continued, but a lot went through us. It was as if we were telling one another things, without saying a word. Ko cracked a joke here and there, but mainly there was not a sound made by either of us.
My house came into view, making me sad to see it so suddenly. "See you at school tomorrow!" Ko said as he waved good-bye.
Waving back, I wish I didn't have to go. Opening my door, I looked forward to tomorrow more than ever.
The Next Day
"Why is Haruhi acting so weird?" Honey asked. Mori just shrugged, not really caring.
"My daughter soul has been taken! We must find this thief and bring Haruhi to justice!" Tamaki yelled. The Twins came up to him, both smacking his face. "Ow! What was that for?"
"For being stupid." Hikaru explained, rolling his eyes. "Boss, could you at least act normal?"
I stared out the window, finally able to relax. Today was the best day I have had since I have been at Ouran. I hope there will be some more...
"Haruhi-chan!" Honey shouted at me. Clutching his bunny to his chest, he looked at me. "Why are you all sigh-y today?"
During the whole club meeting, I have been gazing out the window like a love crazed girl. No wonder everyone's worried. "Oh well... a friend of mine is now attending Ouran."
"Oh! That's great, Haru-chan!" Honey giggled, rushing back to Mori.
"And this person is...?" Questioned the twins, practically begging for more information.
"His name is Ko and I known him since I was little..." Memories rushed into my head as I thought back to the first time I met him.
Flashback
I zoomed by trees as I pedaled my bike faster and faster. The wind blew my hair back as I sped by. I did it. I taught myself how to ride a bike.
A grin spread across my face, a feeling of victory sweeping through me. I had been trying to get my dad to teach me to ride, but it never happened. By the fourth time my dad had told me he wouldn't be able to teach me today, I decided to learn myself. And I accomplished my goal.
Suddenly, my front tire wobbled side to side, causing me to lose control of the bike. I was so focused on the tire, I hadn't looked in front of me. Glancing up, I smacked straight into a tree. Crying out in pain, my mind blanked out.
I woke up moments later, the world spinning around me. Once everything came into focus, I saw a boy staring down at me.
"Hey, are you ok?" He asked, his words muted by my throbbing head.
I groaned in pain as I sat up. My bike sat under the tree, no where near the right shape. Everything was bent in wrong directions, parts laying on the ground beside it.
"Yeah, I don't think you will be riding that any time soon." The boy said with a shy smile.
"What... what happened?" I asked, finally able to talk again.
"Well, I was walking through the woods as you tore right past me. You lost control only seconds later and I couldn't get to you in time before you crashed." He explained.
"My dad is going to be mad at me..." I whined in despair.
"Nah, you will be OK."
"Thanks...?" I asked, remembering he hadn't given me his name.
"Ko Kimura." He holds out his hand. "And you are?"
"Haruhi Fujioka. Nice to meet you, Ko." I said, shaking his hand, a smile on my face.
"You sure your ok?" He helped me up. I wobbled a bit, and he caught me. An awkward passed through us as we noticed how close we were. Jumping away, I looked at my bike nervously.
"Well, this is going to be a little difficult..." I mumbled. Ko went over to the destroyed bike, picked it up, and looked over at me.
"Need some help?" He said with a grin.
We walked and talked, and I learned that he moved here just a few days ago. He would also be going to the same school as me for the new year. His hobbies included soccer, listening to music and playing video games.
"This your place?" He asked as we walked up to my house. I nodded, a sad feeling running through me. "Need any help explaining how this happened?"
"No I think I will be OK. Thank you though." I smiled at him. "See you Monday."
He smiled back, jogging down the street. Tossing the bike aside, I walked to my front door. At that moment, I knew I would never feel alone ever again.
Flashback End
"We have been friends ever since that day." I told the eagerly listening host club.
"Well, as long as your friends, I allow you, my daughter, to hang out with this Ko fellow. But you need to stay away from those other boys. Daddy forbids it." Tamaki ordered, while the rest of us just shook our heads.
I fixed my gaze back on the window, remembering to meet Ko after club ends. My smile continued to stay on my face, the club members mumbling back and forth to each other. For the rest of the meeting, not once did I say anything. The only thing on my mind was the greatest friend anyone could have.
