I DO NOT OWN GHOST HUNT

Chapter Two

Lin's P.O.V

I walked into the office and sighed. Rena had woken up sick and Naru instead that at least one of us had to come in today. He couldn't come and apparently, I as the older brother had to come in, when I should be the one taking care of my sister. Either way I was going to be stuck doing something unpleasant at least here at the office I had Mia for company.

I'd been typing away at my computer when the front door opened and Mai walked in, the clue was when someone banged into the table. I winched slightly and got up to tell her she didn't have to make over ten cups of tea today. She was sitting on her chair rubbing her shin a small frown on her face.

"Are you alright?" I asked she jumped and looked up at me with wide eyes.

"Oh, it's you Lin-san, you sacred me," she admitted. "I'm fine, don't worry," I looked up as Takigawa and the others filed into the office, great, things just kept getting better and better.

"Where's Ojou-sama?" Yasu asked.

"She's sick," I answered without even thinking about the consequences of that.

"SHE SICK!"

Great now to top off the fact that I was slightly worried I had a head ache.

"Yes that happens to people," I told them but they were ignoring me instead talking about Rena, and…

"Don't you, I don't know have something better to do then plan to follow my car to visit Rena?" I asked them.

"It's Naru's job to be anti-social, Lin-san, we're just worried," Mai said I ignored my guilty conscience and shook my head.

"Do what you like just don't expect me to answer when Naru finds out," I warned.

"Don't worry we'll keep you out of it Lin," Takigawa assured me. "Although we will need you to answer some questions," this really was not my day.

Mai's P.O.V

Poor Lin-san had been cornered by Bou-san and Yasu who were currently drilling questions at him. I gave him a sympathetic smile and turned back to Masako and Ayako, John had taken a trip to Australia.

"Where's Naru?" Ayako asked Lin-san.

"He's back at the apartment taking care of Rena," he answered, he looked really close to snapping at Bou-san and Yasu.

I yelped as I was pulled into a circle with Masako and Ayako.

"Mai you need to do something," they told me I frowned.

"About what?" I asked them.

"You need to stake your claim on Naru before someone else does," Ayako hissed I gave her a look.

"Ayako I love you and everything but you have no say in that!" I snapped. "And why are we talking about this now?" I was blushing like crazy, I mean it was one thing for Bou-san and Yasu to hear but it was a completely different story if Lin-san was in the room.

"Because haven't you noticed that a certain someone also gets called by their first name by Naru?" Masako asked me I thought for a moment and glared at her.

"Masako-chan, if this is about than Rena I don't want to hear it," I told her.

"Mai we're telling you this for your own good, if you don't want to defiantly lose Naru, now's your chance," they told me. I pulled back and was going to let them have it when Lin-san's office door closed, I looked up at it. This was just great, perfect, to top off the fact that I was already having difficulties with my emotions now they made Lin-san get angry at me.

"You know what guys, you're just awesome,"

(LATER)

I twisted a piece of my hair as Lin-san drove to the apartment he shared with Naru. It wasn't that same comfortable silence that we'd had on our last trip to my apartment this one was tense and very awkward. Anything would be better than this, even if he started to scold me. Be the better person! Wow even my normal pep talking wasn't working.

"So what's exactly wrong with Rena?" I asked softly.

"She has a stomach virus," curt, polite, and stoic, damn Ayako and Masako's big mouths! I took a deep breath.

"I'm sorry about what Ayako and—

"You shouldn't have to apologize for them," he told me. "It's not as if you think that," wait if that was true then how come he was being so mean?

"But then why are you taking it out on me!" I blurted that our before I could stop myself and now I really regretted it; there was a moment of silence again.

"I'm sorry," I looked up at him, we'd both said it at the same time and I gave him a weak smile which he returned.

"How about we forget about this whole situation?" he asked I nodded at him.

"Sounds like a plan," I told him.

Yeah, victory dance, for Taniyama Mai! Oh yeah! I looked out the window and had to stop myself from gasping; it was like those movie versions of buildings. It screamed'expensive' I looked back at Lin-san who was fighting back a smile.

"You live here?" I demanded this time he did crack a smile.

"Yes I do," he told me I looked back at the building.

"What floor?" I asked.

"It has an elevator, the 17th," he said I shook my head.

"Well then this is pretty far from where I live so let's hurry up before it gets too late," I said.

"Don't worry I'll drive you," he reassured me I blushed and looked down opening the car door after he finished parking the car.

"Thank you I really appreciate it,"

Naru's P.O.V

My eyebrow twitched as more than one person walked through the door that night. I was going to strangle Lin. Rena looked up from her position on the couch.

"Hi everyone," she said weakly, she hadn't thrown up again but she was still shaking and pale.

"Rena!" Takigawa, Yasu, and Mai ran to the girl and started asking her a thousand questions, I sighed and sat down doing my best to place Rena behind me.

"She's sick, she doesn't need your over enthusiasm what she needs is rest," I said.

"Be nice," she told me smiling at them.

"How was your day at the office?" she asked.

"Just fine but I'm sure yours' wasn't," Mai said.

"So to lighten up your day we decided to stop by," Yasu told her.

"And bring you get well gifts," Takigawa added.

"You really shouldn't have it's just a stomach virus it'll go away soon," Takigawa waved an apple in front of her face. "I'll shut up now," she snatched it away mumbled her thank you and took a bite. I raised an eyebrow at Lin and he just shrugged, so he'd been harassed all day. Rena's favorite fruit in the whole wide world was an apple, a red ripe apple, if you killed her gold fish she'd forgive you as long as you gave her a Gala apple. Okay I would know because maybe once I mistook a bowl of ammonia for a place to put a fish, so sue me, I was five and it was dark.

I looked down and something tugged on my sleeve it was the cat. His tail pointed to the first door of the hallway, right I'd told Lin that I'd tell them about Moto-san myself.

"We have a new case," I said they turned too looked at me.

"About what?" Hara-san asked.

"She's a medium who can't control her powers, to top it off she seems to attract more spirits then what's relatively safe," I told them. "Our job is to teach her how to control her power and how to defend herself,"

"So who is she?" Mai asked.

"That would be me, I'm Moto Arica," Rena and Mai and everyone else turned to look at Moto-san. Rena started to shake and she turned even paler, just like this morning. Her eyes were firmly on the floor.

"Hey, Rena is something wrong?" Yasu asked her she shook her head.

"No, I'm just tired," she told him, she was actually looking better.

"Well you heard the girl let's get out of here," Ayako told them after much complaining and threats everyone but the people who were currently living here left. Lin told me something about going to drop off Mai. I helped Rena to her room where she shut the door and turned to look at me.

"Noll do not take this case," she said I gave her a skeptical look.

"Rena I already did," I reminded her, she shook her head.

"Noll, I'm serious I don't know what it is but I don't trust her, Mai doesn't either, did you see her, she looked freaked out, something just doesn't feel right," Rena said I frowned and thought about for a while.

"I can't reject her now Rena, but I'll make you a deal I'll be extra careful okay, don't worry everything will be fine," I reassured her she sighed.

"Why do you always have to be so difficult?" she demanded I smiled and kissed her forehead.

"Trust me," I whispered looking into her eyes, she flushed angrily and looked at the floor.

"If you end up dead don't blame me Oliver," she whispered in English I smiled and gave her another kiss on her forehead, and pointed to the bed.

"Go and get some rest, everything will be fine," I told her she stalked off towards her bed.

"Turn the lights off," I sighed, no matter how strange the female mind worked I was smart enough to know that she was still against the whole idea and nothing I said would make her change her mind. I turned the lights off and turned to look at her back; quietly I made my way towards her and knelt down.

"Rena, look at me," she turned around.

"Nothing will happen to you, I'll keep you safe, I told you this, it's a promise I'm not willing to break,"

Rena's P.O.V

I shot up and glared at him.

"Do you honestly think that I'm concerned with my safety? I'm worried about everyone else's safety which you seem to be forgetting about!" I snapped he looked at me and sighed.

"Watson, do you honestly know me so little as to think that I would risk anyone's life?" he asked I gave up and flopped onto the bed.

"Home's sometimes you're too smart for your own good," I told him he ruffled my hair and left the room. It was Syaoran's fear that I'd felt. For some reason my twin was telling me to stay away from this Moto Arica. I sighed in frustration and sat up, now that I knew it wasn't my fear the side effects were almost gone I just had to stay aware that they weren't my feelings.

"Rena you're going to end up upsetting your stomach again," Gene warned from his cat bed that I'd bought him apparently he was growing more cattish despite his earlier discomforts.

"You're turning into such a cat," I commented he stuck his tongue out at me.

"I am not, but Noll and Lin didn't really give me much of a choice now did they?" he asked I smiled that was true. I looked on my night stand and noticed the white paper Takumi had given me; I'd forgotten to read it. I flipped it open.

Meet me at the same café on Friday at 3pm

Kazuki

"What day is it today?" I asked Gene.

"Thursday," he answered already almost asleep.

"Good night Gene," I told him.

"Night, Rena," what could Kazuki-kun want? I didn't give it much thought as sleep claimed me once again. I watched as the scene changed before me into the ancient room.

(MORNING)

I looked up at the light coming in through my window and turned to the clock, 6am. I sat up this time my own fear griping my heart. What the hell was going on? Never before had a dream been cut off like that, what was wrong? I furred my eyebrows I was there and then it was almost like the dream left and not me, as if Syaoran had pulled the dream back, himself, but why? What was going on?

Mai's Dream

I looked around I was in the clearing again I sat down on the grass and waited for the Wolf to make his appearance.

"Why did you do that?" I turned to look at the Wolf.

"Do what?" I asked.

"Wait, so you didn't mean to pull me over here?" he asked me I shook my head.

"Nope, I just ended up here, is it because we have a new case?"

"Damn, I am not you Spirit Guide okay?" he clarified. "Gene is yours', okay I'm just trying to find—

"Find what?" I asked.

"Nothing, forget I said that, but I can't be your Spirit Guide," he told me.

"And why not?" I demanded.

"Because I'm not a Spirit," I looked at him for a while.

"Okay, so you're a Spirit in denial?"

"No, damn it! I'm not dead! I was astral projecting and you got in my way!" he snapped I flinched a little.

"Wait so you're actually a living human being?" I asked the Wolf nodded his head. "So then why are you in my dreams all the time?"

"Mai, I'm never in your dreams, you're always in mine, I'm trying to reach someone else, call to your spirit guide he'll be of more help then I'll ever be," he said.

"I'm sorry I didn't know that I was doing that," I apologized he sighed.

"Listen I need a favor from you," he said.

"What is it?" I asked.

"I'm about to confide my greatest secret to you but you have to swear that you won't say a word to anyone, and in exchange I'll help you until you get your Spirit Guide is back," he explained.

"I swear I won't say a word, and thank you,"

"Good," suddenly the huge wolf turned into normal size and a boy version of Rena was standing in front of me, his hair was cut normal length for a guy.

"My name is Lin Syaoran and I need you to keep an eye out for my twin, Lin Rena, your friend,"

I did not see that one coming.

Authro's Note: YEAH! Didn't see that one coming now did ya?

Rena: Should I stangle her now or later?

Shhh, (Waves hand at Rena) no one's talking to you

Rena: I should, but I'm not going to! You have to put the other chaper soon! And tell them already.

But it's not nice to tell on people

Gene: so you're going to lie, that's so much better

Fine, my beta kind of left so yeah, if it's more clunky then usual I'm really sorry (insert puppy face here)
