I NOT OWN GHOST HUNT
Chapter Three
Dream Continues
"So you're Rena's twin?" I asked he nodded.
"You don't believe me do you?" he asked.
"Not really, but I've been taught not to trust so easily," I told him, he smiled and sat down next to me.
"You've been listening to what Noll tells you right? He's rubbing off on you isn't he?" Wolf asked I thought about it for a moment he knew Noll's personality.
"Tell me something about Rena," I said, I didn't really mention that I knew he was telling the truth, my instinct was telling me that, but I was going to use this to my advantage.
"Well you can't tell her this, but her first name is Zuho and mine is Zongxiàn, but Noll and Gene thought that was a mouthful, so they started calling us by our next name," he said a small smile on his lips. "She also has the strangest fear in the world, she can't stand the first aid kit," this time I started to giggle and he turned to look at me.
"I believe you but I just wanted to make sure," I told him he smiled at me.
"And you think I didn't know that?" he asked I frowned. "But I want you to promise me that you will never call her that, and you will never talk about me, it's for her own good and mine," he paused for a second. "Someone's coming to look for her, a medium. I told you this, but you need to be careful, Mai, please help my sister and watch out for her, and I'll help you here,"
"I will, don't worry Syaoran,"
Mai's P.O.V
After Syaoran had told me that little fact he also mentioned a medium coming to hurt Rena. I sighed why was my life so complicated? Why did I always end up getting lied to? Well technically speaking I hadn't been lied to because I never asked if she had a twin and now I couldn't because I'd promised Syaoran that I wouldn't even talk about him, he refused to tell me why, though.
I walked into the office and I found Rena sitting on the couch a frown on her face, Moto-san was sitting on the signal seat; Naru and Lin-san were nowhere to be seen.
"Morning, Zuho," oh shit I said that out loud, damn it! Syaoran told me to not call her by that name.
"What did you say?" she demanded looking at me with wide eyes I tilted my head to one side.
"Moring Rena?" I asked her she looked at me for a moment and smiled shaken her head as if chiding herself for think that I knew her Chinese name.
"Morning Mia," she answered.
"Good morning Moto-san," I didn't look at her if I did what happened last night would happen again, I'd wanted nothing to do with her. I repelled away from the idea of being near her and I also didn't want Rena anywhere near her either. Was this the medium that Syaoran warned me about? But Moto-san didn't have any control. I frowned, my face was probably going to stay that way eventually.
"Mai tea!" Naru called I sighed and made my way into the kitchen and thus my labor began, again.
Lin-san and Naru had migrated out of their offices to watch as Rena trained Moto-san, apparently one of her shiki was a medium.
"My shiki is going to float around you and I want you to think about anything to get your mind away from its presence once that's done, well we'll go from there," Rena told her. She reached down and grabbed a rectangular carried that was a burgee she clicked it open and pulled out a black violin. I gave Lin-san a questioning look.
"You know how I whistle to call me shiki?" he asked I nodded. "Rena uses a violin,"
"But at our last case she called to then in different languages," I told him.
"There not as strong," he explained I nodded my head and watched as Rena placed the violin on her shoulder and began to play, I didn't know the name of the song but I recognized it. The minute that her shiki began to float near Moto-san she recoiled and began to panic, Rena immediately stopped.
"It wasn't a bad start, you're new to this, so just relax and we'll go little by little," Rena told her Moto-san nodded and sat down again.
"What song was that?" I asked Rena, she smiled.
"Frere Jacque," she answered. "You're okay right?"
"Yeah, it's just, they really freak me out," Moto-san admitted. She began to fumble with her hands, but I didn't trust her, I couldn't trust her.
"Mai, make tea," Naru told me I sighed and walked into the kitchen.
"How old are you Moto-san?" Naru asked her my ears perked up as I waited for the water to boil.
"I'm sixteen," she answered, well this was getting interesting.
"Moto-san—
"You know that we want to help you, but, we're kind of in a difficult situation here," Rena continued.
"No one will complain about this," she told them. "My parents are dead," a silence hung in the air and I felt a twinge of compassion for this girl. She was like me, no family and then she happens to stumble into the supernatural world. I bite my lips and snapped out of it, I had made a promise.
"Mai," I jumped and turned to look at Lin-san he had a funny look on his face.
"What's wrong?" I asked him he leaned against the wall.
"I was going to ask you that because the water's done," he pointed out, I turned to the kettle and sure enough it was screaming its lungs out.
"Oh, would you look at that, it is," I said lamely turning it off and pouring it into cups.
"Is something wrong?" he asked me, well yeah, but I can't tell you.
"I—I bite my lips my hand curling around the counter. How was I supposed to tell him? A hand was suddenly on top of mine and my breath caught in my throat. Slowly he pulled them away from the counter and held them.
"Go leave the tea and then we'll go see how well they make tea across the street," he told me, I was going to protest but he gave me a look so I just nodded.
I walked into the main room and gave them their tea, Rena gave me strange look.
"Moto-san you'll try this again with Rena later," Naru said and he looked at me before he left. What the hell?
Rena got up grabbed my hand and dragged me off to the kitchen.
"What is it?" I whispered.
"Where are you and Koujo going?" she asked I blushed and looked down.
"I don't know what you're talking about," I mumbled she gave me a look that was making me feel uncomfortable. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Are you always this oblivious?" she asked me I glared at her.
"About what!" I demanded she shook her head.
"When you find out, then, come talk to me," she told me walking away. Okay, now what was going on? I banged my head on the wall, or at least faked it. What did she mean when I found out to talk to her? What was I suppose to find out? I didn't have time to worry about Rena's assumptions!
Rena's P.O.V
Mai and Koujo had left a while ago and Moto-san was sleeping on the couch, apparently it was tiring to let a ghost float around you. I walked into Noll's office and hopped on his desk.
"What is it, Rena?" he asked I started to kick my legs.
"Well I'm just here to tell you that I have something really important to do, I'll be back soon so don't worry about having to socialize with Moto-san, I won't take that long," I assured him. He looked up at me raising an eyebrow.
"And where are you going?" he asked. I glared at him and jumped off his desk.
"It's girl stuff Noll, but if you must know—he put a hand over my mouth.
"I don't need to know these things, just hurry up," he told me. "And where is your brother?" I smiled and rocked on my heels.
"Oh, I don't know," he grabbed my wrist so that I wouldn't escape.
"What do you know?" he asked I gave him a puzzled look.
"Is everyone here so dense?" I asked him he glared at me.
"Well then why don't you enlighten me, Watson," he told me.
"It's actually real simple, Homes. It's called attraction," and I twirled out of his grip and skipped out of his office, I'd leave him to think about that on his own.
Naru's P.O.V
"It's actually real simple, Homes. It's called attraction," she said taking advantage of my momentary shock to escape my hold and skipped out of the room. Attraction? That was her answer to Lin disappearing? That was her answer, for Lin and Mai leaving. Oh well, maybe we were dense sometimes. I'd bet my whole paycheck that the dense ones were them. I sighed as the office door opened and walked out before they could wake up Moto-san.
"Naru-bou, how are you?" Takigawa asked.
"Where's Rena?" Yasu asked.
"Welcome back John," I told him noticing that he was hanging back slightly.
"Thank you, Naru," he told me I nodded.
"She's outside," and before I could say anything else they called a good bye and dragged John out with them. Well wasn't that interesting. No it was not. Takigawa was too old, John was a priest, and Yasuhara was just, well no. No. NO.
"Umm, excuse me, but would you mind telling me where I could get something to eat," I turned to Moto-san and she had a blush on her face. She had, had, breakfast right? I think she had anyway. Maybe Mai was right and I thought too much about work, wait scratch that. Mai just thought to little about work.
"Put your jacket and we'll go get something," hell if no one wanted to stay in the office then I wasn't going to either. Let's see how they felt about that when I got back. Some assistants I had.
"Thank you,"
"You should stop thanking us," I told her. "This is our job, we do this because we want to," she looked down.
"I'm still grateful,"
Ayako's P.O.V
Masako and I walked towards the office but when we got there no one was in.
"Where do you think they went?" I asked Masako, she shrugged her shoulders.
"But they shouldn't be gone for too long," she told me sitting down.
"Masako, why are you so jealous of Rena?" I asked her, sure I hadn't like the girl at first, but she wasn't so bad. She had after all saved me despite how I'd treated her. Masako had yet to warm up to girl.
"I told you before, Ayako, I just don't like her, I'm not jealous," Masako said.
"Come on, you have to have a reason for that," I said.
"Well I don't know how they did thing when you were a child, heaven knows that was a very long time ago," I did my best to ignore the old comment, I was not that old.
"I'm old enough to know when a little girl is jealous, I know it's not about Naru, so then who?" I asked she blushed covering her face with her hand.
"Ayako, what are you saying?" she demanded I smiled, bingo.
"Oh, nothing really, just that maybe you're interested in, oh I don't know, maybe, you kind of like John, or maybe Yasuhara?" I asked her she blushed even harder hiding her face.
"Don't say things like that!" Masako exclaimed.
"What? There's nothing wrong in liking a guy," I watched her cast her eyes down. "Oh my god you like both of them!"
"Shh, Ayako," she looked around frantically.
"You do, don't you?" I became serious and she nodded her head slowly.
"It's not that I wanted to, it just sort of happened," she mumbled I gave her head a sympathetic pat.
"Don't worry, Masako-chan, we all go through that at one point, just don't make it a habit," I warned she glared at me.
"Ayako,"
"Yes?"
"Shut up,"
Author's Note: That was awsome! You see the wheels starting to turn right? I don't really know how it's going to work out for Masako-chan but at least we know why she's so hostile towards Rena. See you guys on Wensday!
Rena: but its not like that!
You just sit their and be a good OC.
Rena: really?
Nevermind you'll just end up doing what you want.
Rena: Weren't you spacing out a few words ago?
Oh ya! (Spacing out)
Rena: (face palms) I shouldn't have said anything. Anyway please review. See you soon. Love you! Rena and Eclipse approve this message. Maybe not Eclipse so much because she's long gone but you get the point.
Rena: bye bye!
