Daily Interference Chapter 9
Chapter 9: Can We Escape?
LEON
Five knights gathered in a clearing North East of Camelot. They had been riding since dawn and judging by the sun, it was almost sundown. Leon and and Gwaine went hunting for their evening meal while the rest set up camp for the night.
"Food has arrived!" Gwaine cheered as he entered the camp. "Big boy over there can cook." Gwaine pointed his head in Percival's direction.
"Fine but you empty it's insides."
"No, Elyan my friend can do that. I went hunting." Gwaine replied cheekily.
"Gwaine. Don't pester the knights." Leon scolded. Gwaine rolled his eyes behind Leon's back and smiled.
"I'll pour everyone's drinks." Gwaine muttered as he stood up and walked away, leaving the knights chuckling behind him.
ARTHUR
"Come on Merlin, wake up!" Arthur cried out as he desperately tried to unfasten the boy's chains. "We have to get out of here before evil Mr Prince Stephen get's back." Hoping it would bring Merlin back to consciousness, but of course it didn't. The Prince of Camelot looked around desperately for something to cut the chains…anything!
The table. It had lot's of unseen equipment on it. Maybe there was something there that could help get the chains off. With that thought, the blond man rushed to the table and glanced at the tools. There was many on the table from small knifes to daggers and some other sharp things that Arthur could not seem to name. So Arthur went for the most promising and what looked- trusting small dagger. Should he use it? Of course he should. It might save Merlin. But something was pulling him back and he didn't know what it was. It was probably nothing. The Crowned Prince of Camelot picked it up and took it over to his manservant.
The blade looked innocent, it seemed innocent but as soon as Arthur got close, Merlin seemed conscious. His eyes were open and seemed alerted to something. His whole composure seemed tense.
"Merlin, what's wrong?" Arthur questioned.
"I can sense something…magical." Merlin said hoarsely.
"I'm going to try cut your chains off okay?" Merlin only nodded as he was sinking back into sleep again. "Whatever it is that has you sensing magic, it's probably Stephen brewing potions or whatever he does when he isn't torturing anyone." Arthur said receiving a small smile from Merlin. Arthur pressed the blade onto the chains, and immediately regretted it. Merlin screamed and shook violently. He dropped the dagger when the handle burned hot, making it shine orange with blue sparks flying from everywhere. Arthur yelped, his hand turning red raw.
"Merlin! I'm sorry!" Arthur didn't think when he was apologizing, it didn't matter, not when a friend-sorry a best friend was hurt.
It was like Merlin was electrocuted, he shook violently and the chain smelt of something burning. Arthur didn't like it. He caused this.
"Oh Merlin, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that." Arthur cried out softly, putting the blade down.
"It fine Ar-thur" Merlin panted. A loud chuckle laced in evil sounded from the door, followed by a slow applause.
"I didn't even have to harm your most loyal servant myself. Look, you almost fried him. I'll pay you to do that again." Stephen's menacing voice sounded.
"What the hell?" Arthur shouted, fury. "I'm not even going to ask if you actually have a heart, but do you think I actually knew what I was doing? Yes I was cutting the chain but I never expected it to be spelled like that."
"Arthur…" Merlin moaned. "Wasn't your fault."
"Shush, Merlin." Arthur called, stepping between Merlin and the sorcerer again. The Prince of the North East stepped forward, pushing the Prince of Camelot away from Merlin. The Sorcerer eyed Merlin, who's eyes were wide with fear.
"Do you want to know why I am after you?" The Prince smirked.
"I already know why you're after me." Merlin replied.
"Merlin, what are you talking about?" Arthur asked.
"Hasn't he told you yet? Maybe I should tell you." Stephen smiled evilly.
"No, Merlin will tell me when he is ready to." Arthur declared.
"But Merlin might not be here to tell you." Stephen glared at the innocent, chained-up boy. "All the secrets he has yet to tell you, Prince Arthur."
"Like I said, Merlin will tell me when he is ready." Arthur stood up tall.
"H-How do you k-know about me?" Merlin's weak voice slurred.
"Who doesn't? Merlin, you are known across the seven seas. I want your power. Think, your power is raw, it's strong for just one person. The whole world looks to you for protection. Do you know why, Prince Arthur?" The Prince Stephen pauses for a second to let Arthur take it in.
"Because, the man who you have known for the past four years, is Emrys."
MERLIN
Prince Twat had left them long ago. Arthur was pacing furiously across the room and back. Sometimes he stopped and glanced at the table, and then to Merlin, and then back to the table shaking his head at the same time.
"Merlin, can you not undo your chains?" Arthur asked, remembering Merlin had magic. His manservants head immediately snapped up, a look of hope cast in his frightened blue eyes.
His servants eyes turned molten gold around the iris as he choked some words of foreign out.
"Onlūcan racentēag!" Luckily the chains weren't magical and unlocked straight away. Merlin fell out, landing in a heap on the floor.
"Right. Let's escape." Arthur began to walk towards Merlin to help him when his servant cried out.
"No! Stay back!" Merlin cried out. He could feel the magic travelling through his veins again. "We wont be escaping if you get knocked unconscious again. Stay back and take cover!" Arthur immediately done what he was bid and his behind the two tables, waiting for Merlin to gather his strength, and hopefully try to keep his magic at bay.
After several minutes, the Warlock finally managed to pull himself to his feet, even though his legs threatened to pull him back down. Arthur walked over to him with a sympathetic smile painted on his face.
"Are you okay?" When he received a nod, he helped Merlin across the room towards the door. The door was locked. Arthur looked apologetically to Merlin, who was already focusing on the door. With no word used, he managed to unlock the door with only a golden tinge to the eye. Just how easy was that to Merlin? Was there other things like unlocking doors that Merlin could do without speaking words? How powerful was his servant? Did he even trust was Prince Stephen said?
ARTHUR
The corridors were grey and they seemed like they would never end. Merlin limped, leaning against his master for support as they worked their way through the maze-like castle. Arthur knew he couldn't ask Merlin to anything more, his magic was already taken a toll from him.
Soon they were out of the castle, finding themselves placed on the top of a hill at the end of a forest.
Then there was a roar mixed with anger and words which neither Arthur and Merlin could understand. Arthur ran down the hill, literally dragging the half limp Merlin along side him. Merlin suddenly froze, his face masked in pain, unbearable pain. His breathing hitched and his blue t-shirt was beginning to darken with crimson. Arthur's face was full of pain. His warlock friend doubled over, screaming before he lost balance and rolled down the rest of the hill. Prince Arthur looked behind him and his anger grew to see the North East Prince standing there with his arm stretched out to where Merlin had previously been standing.
Instead of saying anything, Arthur continued to run down the hill, to see Merlin kneeling up, his eyes scrunched up tight, his lips in a thin line. He was taking breaths, as if he was summoning what little strength he had left. He was. Arthur had to step back from the unexpected roar.
"Dragon!" Merlin fell over, landing on his front, his eyelids shutting. "Help me!" He whispered before his vision clouded over with darkness.
Here we are! Chapter 9. Wow. Longest story I ever wrote. Well that's the end of the Prince Stephen whump, I guess. Don't kill me because there is still plenty to go yet. Merlin has to get home first. But wow, the dragon is coming! Yay! Next chapter should be here by Monday.
But oh no! Guess what! I have school next week which means things are going to slow down a lot because this is my last year. I have 9 months left of school and exams so I will be getting plenty homework and lots of after school stuff to be getting on with. But of course, I will be writing, when do I ever stop? *sticks out tongue*
Have fun reading and please review!
