Daily Interference Chapter 14

A New Beginning

"HE NEVER DIES!" Arthur screamed. A bolt of lightning filled the room. Surprising everyone with it's warmth. Then a weak voice sounded from below them all.

"Who never dies?"

MERLIN

Merlin was floating, floating on nothing. He felt weightless. Why was he floating? Was he floating on the Lake of Avalon? Was he going to be with Freya, his lost love at last? The thought of being with Freya pulled him down, into the blackness even further. He could be free, he wouldn't have to serve, he wouldn't have to train with Arthur everyday. He wouldn't have to hide who he was. He would be free, living with everyone he had met, but died because of him. Will, Freya, Balinor. Even Nimueh. Even Morgause. He didn't want to kill them- but he had a destiny to fill and they were trying to stop him from doing that. Merlin didn't want to kill them, but he didn't want to kill his friend either. Who was Merlin? Merlin- a monster. That's who he was. A monster.

Arthur.

Arthur. He needed to fill his destiny. It wasn't done yet. Albion wasn't free. He wanted to fore-fill his destiny. He wanted to serve his Royal Prat-ness.

"HE NEVER DIES!" That scream echoed through the darkness. It was full of pain. It was sounding like someone was crying, like they were upset. Upset over what? His mind reached out, his exhaustion, the darkness in his vision, it was fading. His mind clawed onto what ever was calling, repeating, echoing. It pulled Merlin, it pulled him up out of the fogginess. Light flashed in front of his closed eyes, wakening him up properly from his unconscious state.

"Who never dies?"

ARTHUR

"Who never dies?" His eyes snapped up, looking for the person who had said them three, strong words. A broken sigh sounded from below and Arthur immediately dropped his eyes, to find Merlin's eyes fluttering, his breathing uneven, but steady.

"Merlin?" Arthur tested, knowing farewell that the other people in the room had heard it too, but waiting to be sure.

"What you want…prat?"

"MERLIN!" Arthur gasped. Arthur, hearing the heels, backed away from Merlin's bed, letting Gwen rush past. His vision turned a little red with jealousy when he saw his love kiss his manservant. However, Merlin was just as shocked as Arthur himself.

"Merlin, my boy! We thought you were gone." Gaius smiled, embracing his ward. Merlin hissed when his right shoulder was brushed slightly.

"No. No matter how hard you try to get rid of me. You all know that wont happen." Merlin smiled.

"I see you haven't lost your cheekiness then." Arthur said, trying to resist the urge to grin like a mad man.

"No…it's seems…I …haven't." Merlin's speech got slower and heavier, his eyes dropped. The small glint of amusement faded from Arthur's eyes immediately.

"Gaius?" The young Prince questioned. Gaius quickly checked Merlin over and smiled.

"He's fine Arthur, just exhausted." Gaius explained.

"When do you think he will be allowed back to work?" Arthur asked.

"You don't want him back to work already, do you?" The old man asked, straightening his back and looking Arthur straight in the eye.

"No! No! Nothing like that. Just, when will he be allowed to get out of bed?" Arthur tried again, rephrasing his question.

"I'd say a week at the most, which allows him plenty of rest, heal his shoulder- but it will still be healing over, so you can't give him any hard jobs- and I'll have to get his nutrition back. He's thin, I can see his bones. He will be better in no time." Gaius informed. Arthur nodded, taking in everything that was said.

"Send someone to fetch me when he wakes up again please. I have a few jobs to do, concerning some free land and some papers to go through." Arthur said.

"I will do, Sire." Gaius bowed his head. Arthur nodded his head back, before walking out of the petite room, out of the main room and into the main corridor. Gaius stared after him, before glancing to Gwen.

"Go put a sleeping draught in a jug of water, or wine, I don't mind and leave it in his room for his return from the council meeting. He could do with some rest." Gwen smiled knowingly and walked out of the room, following Gaius' request.

Don't kill me please, I know it's a short chapter but I just needed to get this point covered, that he had woken up and he's going to be fine. I know it's short but I promise next week it will be a longer chapter but sadly *sniff* the last chapter. Forgive me? Want a sequel? Just say so and I'll think of a sequel. Just remember if you want one, Prince Stephen of the North East is still alive :P. And think of this. I have a little plot if you want one!
