A/N: Okay… So some of you saw that I somewhat cheated in the last chapter since I used a hyphen to combine two words *cough*turn-on*cough*. What? It's hard writing only a hundred words, ya know? But I've fixed that problem so ha! :P This next cliché's very tragic, yet quite classic.

Summary: There is no love without making sacrifices.

Curiosity Killed The Cat

"You shouldn't have come!"

"If I hadn't… I would have lost you…"

"I'm a captain, Karin! I wouldn't hav—"

"Yes, you would have…" she argues before throwing a quick glance at Pantheras, her now shattered zanpakutō. "They say a cat… has nine lives…" Despite the pain, she smiles. "With rest… I'm sure… we'll be ready… to fight again…"

Slowly, the light fades from her eyes and her heart comes to a stop.

She may be resting, but Tōshirō knows she'll never wake up to see the day.

For a cat may have nine lives, but Karin only has one.

A/N: In case you didn't get the reference to cats, Pantheras is the genus for wild cats such as lions, tigers, jaguars, leopards, etc. The rest should speak for itself.
