Gibbs: Family is more than just DNA…
Gibbs held her as long as she needed, before noticing that she'd closed her eyes. He contemplated getting up right then, but something held him there. He glanced around the room for a moment before letting his own eyes rest. It was then his mind flashed with memories of holding his own daughter just as he was holding his Abby now…
She started to stir right then and he calmed her with a slight squeeze and kiss. It was enough to reassure her back to sleep. His presence alone had that affect on her, but he agreed that she had the same affect on him at times. It was then he started to hum a familiar lullaby and within minutes was off to sleep himself.
"But I'm scared Daddy…what if the monster comes to get me while you're away…"
Gibbs slipped an arm around her. "Mom can be pretty scary too ya know?"
Kelly snuggled in closer. "I guess…maybe you can teach me some marine stuff to fight him off just in case?"
"Sure."
"Can we start now?"
Gibbs kissed the back of her head and held her a little tighter. "In a little bit…"
