A/N: I've agonized over this piece for a very long time and I finally have it the way I want it.
Much love goes out to my beta, Dearlady2002, who is an absolute Goddess!
And remember, y'all, J.K. Rowling owns the characters; the piece is all mine.
The piano played heartbreak, loss and tears..
Regrets plentiful enough, he did not need the reminder of times past..
The musical strains that filled the room reminded him of a time that she had proudly introduced him to her family and friends for the first time, not only as her beloved, but her companion and her lover..
Her smile...this was his favorite memory
The ebony beauty whispered of times past, then softly intoned that some pain never vanishes..
How could he have done it?
The piano began to play a soft lullaby that said while he was not forgiven, there might be time to explain..
Please, for God's sake, please let me explain..
The echoing strains of the music reminded him of the time that he had met her and the first time she had smiled at him..
It had captured his heart and the light of a thousand stars shone upon him.
The melody that had haunted his dreams was playing in real life, and it told him that she would forgive him this time..
But is her forgiveness enough?
The soft strains of the lullaby crescendoed into a sweet melody that reminded him of times past when she was his..
Her soft skin, taunting curves and sassy intelligence..
The tone changed to a hurtful and haunting reflection that served as a reminder to him that he had hurt her in more ways than one.
How could I have been so stupid?
The tearful tone that the room now sung told him that she had decided to let him go because he had injured her for the very last time..
No, please, I can't live without you..
The music lowered another octave and conveyed to the listener that this might be the last chance to get down on his knees and beg..
I would do whatever it takes
The melody changed to an angry symphony of when she had argued with him and she had threatened to expose him, leave him, and do more damage than he could ever comprehend..
And I deserve all of it and more
The noise told him that the hope that had resided within him was gone forevermore, and he would learn to live alone..
How could the waves exist without the moon?
The grieving and powerful tone the piano took now said that it was time that he let her go, because there was no more hope..
Is this what Hell is?
