Bella finds out some horrible news and is not sure how to take it. Please review!

Bella was told by Charlie that he had something important to talk to her about once she got home from school, she was curious to know what it was and why they couldn't talk about it that morning; she would have to skip out on her friends once again.

"What's up with you, Bella?" Angela asked at the end of the day, "Don't you want to hangout with us any more?"

"Yeah, it's just some family thing" she said with an aggravated sigh. She drove away from the school in her beat up truck. Charlie got home early, he was sitting at the kitchen table waiting for her arrival, she walked in the door same as always with her backpack on one shoulder.

"What's up?"

"Sit down, Bella" her father said in a serious tone. She obliged, sitting down and facing him, "I have some news about your mom and I. I know that you and Renee have gotten close over the years and all but your mother and I were thinking about remarrying."

Bella looked at him slack-jawed, "What?"

"We talked about it for a while now and we both agree that she move back in."

"W-what about Renee?" asked Bella in shock.

"Renee said she's fine moving back to her old home at the south end of town."

"B-b-but she'll be all alone" Bella stammered, "Don't you l-love her any more?"

"I still do love her, Bella but I love your mom. Just think, we'll be a family again" he said with a smile.

"I liked it when it was just you, me, and Renee" Bella confessed.

"I know, but just try and understand..." Charlie said. Bella stood up and walked out of the kitchen, a tear in her eye, she couldn't stand to hear any more.

Later that evening, Charlie left the house to leave Bella and Renee alone, they curled up on the couch to watch a movie, Bella's arms were hugged around Renee's waist, she leaned her heard on her chest as Renee stroked her hair. "It's not fair" Bella said, not taking her eyes off the screen.

"I know but your parents love each other and they're giving each other a second chance" Renee encouraged her. Renee still loved Charlie but he had become more and more distant from her, he was like a ghost half the time, coming home at odd hours, she expected the worst. One night Charlie confessed to seeing his ex-wife Charlene, instead of being outright mad, Renee remained calm and talked it over with him about what he should do and came to the conclusion of getting a divorce and remarrying Charlene.

"We won't be under the same roof any more, I'll miss that" Bella said sheepishly.

"You can come visit me any time" Renee smiled.

"Promise?"

"Promise" Renee said, kissing her forehead, "Say, you're a little cold, want to snuggle up like old times?"

Bella grinned, she remembered sitting in her step mother's lap and cuddling to keep warm, but she was 18-years-old now, she was bigger. It didn't matter though, she climbed over to Renee's side, put her arms around her neck and sat perfectly in her lap.

"Better?" Renee asked.

"Much better" replied Bella, giving Renee an Eskimo kiss. They both giggled as they brushed noses. Renee looked deep into Bella's eyes, she realized how much she had changed since she had first met her, a beautiful young lady with the whole world ahead of her; some might think their relationship was a little strange but to them it was nothing out of the ordinary. Renee stroked her delicate hair, feeling the long strands between her fingers.

"You're such a beautiful girl" she said tenderly.

"Do you really think so?" Bella asked innocently, "Don't you think I'm just some clumsy geek?"

"No, darling. I just know you'll do well, whatever you choose to do with your life."

They ate from a large bowl of popcorn on the coffee table, getting greasy butter on their fingers. Bella noticed some butter on Renee's cheek, "I love you, mamma lion" an old nickname she had for her. She kissed her buttery cheek.

"I love you too, my lion cub" Renee said kissing a dab of butter off of Bella's cheek. The two of them didn't catch the rest of their movie, they couldn't even remember what it was about.
