Despite what Raven said when she left the kitchen scene, she had, in fact, been doing that again.
Not the kitchen scene. That one was done. But the three scenes that came after. Well, there were five more in total, but three of them obligated her to kiss Garfield Freaking Logan. By contract, there was little she could do about it.
He stood across from her now, regarding her with those green, green eyes. Vibrant, but masked from any emotion. She couldn't figure out what he was thinking, standing there with no particular affliction to his expression. For such an exuberant guy, he had a confounding ability to hide whatever he was really feeling.
She hated that about him.
Killian pointed to different spots on the floor, places where bright blue tape guided her through rehearsals. They'd been removed, but Raven could navigate this entire house in her sleep. This movie had about a billion different settings. The only room they hadn't had a scene in was the bathroom. So now here she stood. In the bathroom. About to kiss Garfield Freaking Logan.
Raven sighed, eyeing herself in the mirror while Killian backed off to his spot behind the cameras. She had bangs for this movie, the fringe brushing at her eyebrows. Whenever she lifted an eyebrow, which was frequently, it disappeared behind the curtain of her bangs, losing some of its impact. But her character, Sarah, was meek. She wasn't caustic or mean, not like Raven was.
The scene started in the bathroom because this was the domestic, fluffy garbage scene that left the audience at peace after all the drama and chaos of the rest of the movie. And what was more domestic than brushing your teeth together because, apparently, you're so in love you can't even do that alone anymore?
They bumped hips, grinning at each other around toothbrushes, and then they edged their way into the hallway. Down the hallway, and she was about to pass the bedroom door when he reached out and caught her wrist, tugging her so that she stumbled into him. His other hand took her jaw and guided her mouth to his. The sweet kiss should have ended the moment they backed into the room, door closing between them and the camera, but it lingered, time slowing in the seconds after the scene officially ended. Gar pulled back, jaw clenching as he regarded her.
She met his gaze, stuck in place by the confusing tension between them. Behind her, the crew cheered and pounded on the door, celebrating the end of filming. For just one more slow second, Gar kept her trapped there, questions in his stare that she couldn't decipher.
He glanced at the door, and just like that, the questions were gone. He grinned at her, gently nudging her away from the door so he could throw it open, jumping into the chaos with a careless smile that made her question whether she ever saw anything in his eyes to begin with. She watched quietly as he launched himself at Victor, their camera lead and Gar's best friend, leaving her alone in the bedroom.
Victor said something to Gar quietly, prompting him to shove the larger man with an over the top scoff. Vic gave him a giant smile, the kind of smile Gar deserved to be surrounded by. He annoyed the ever living crap out of her, but Garfield was, simply put, good. He deserved goodness and friendship and joy. Watching him in the center of the celebration, Raven felt he belonged there. And she belonged right where she stood. Alone in the shadows of the set's bedroom.
Green eyes flashed her way. "Rae, what are you doing standing over there in the dark?"
And just like that, he reached in, took her hand, and dragged her out into the cluster of cast and crew.
