Hey guys! Sorry it took so long to get this part up- I've been away most of the summer, and even though I know the story was viewed, no one reviewed, which is kind of depressing... Anyway, here it is! Relatively short, so I apologize. Hope it was worth the wait!
ii. santana, part i
Santana's been her best friend since grade six. She's always had a feeling that Santana liked her as more than a friend, so when Santana tells her she loves her, it doesn't come as much surprise.
What does surprise her is Santana's insistence that she break up with Artie and date her instead.
She loves Santana, she does. Santana is, without a doubt, her best friend in the entire world.
But she doesn't know if she's in love with her.
She tries to explain this to Santana, using Artie as her reason for why they can't be together. But then Santana looks so broken, and she can't lose Santana, she can't and then she's made a promise to date her if she should ever break up with Artie.
It's not enough though, and as she watches Santana walk down the hall, Brittany has the sickening feeling that she's just lost her best friend.
But, that little voice in her head whispers, if denying her what she wants just this once is all it takes to lose her, maybe she was never your friend to begin with.
That thought is the one that breaks her heart.
