Epsilon couldn't feel more awkward and happy at the same time. On the positive side, Carolina actually cracked a joke and got to see York's last journal entries. On the negative side, Epsilon had to carry her.
Not that it was a bad thing. Epsilon found Carolina to be extremely attractive, and the fact that she cracked a joke that sounded like Tucker wrote it just made it better. But then again, since Epsilon is based off of Alpha, that means that he was supposed to like Tex, right? Even if this wasn't the case, Carolina just watched York's journal entries, and Epsilon was at least smart enough to figure out that York and Carolina liked each other.
So just by liking Carolina, Epsilon was: going against his original programming, betraying Tex and taking Carolina away from York. Tucker may have been fine doing this, but Epsilon would feel horrible doing this. Alpha died numerous times for Tex, and epsilon even trapped himself in the memory unit to find her. How could he just leave Tex for Carolina? Although, Tex was a bitch and never did anything to pay back Alpha or Epsilon.
"Hey Epsil- I mean Church?" Asked Carolina, surprising Church.
"Oh um, what?"
"If you want, I can put you inside of my helmet so you won't have to carry me."
Church was surprised by this. The first and last Freelancer who put Epsilon in their helmet Wash, which nearly killed him. The only reason why it didn't affect Tucker was because of the armor upgrades over the years prevented that from ever happening again. But Carolina still had her Freelancer armor, so what would happen to her?
"Are you sure Carolina? You remember what happened to Wash right? He almost died just because I was put into his helmet." Church didn't know what he would do if Carolina was hurt. She was their leader. Sure Church and Sarge were the leaders of the Blue and Red teams, but for some reason they all relied on Carolina. Even Wash did, but then again Wash had started enough problems for everybody.
"Church, if I could handle two AIs, I think I can handle you." Carolina had some laughter in her voice, again making Church feel happy.
"Alright fine, but be careful."
Time seemed to stop for Church. If he was going to be inside of Carolina's head that meant that he would see her memories and thoughts. Talking in Caboose terms, he was going to act as a second mind. While Tucker was probably going to say some stupid joke about Church being inside Carolina, Church actually wanted this to happen. He would be able to see what made Carolina as serious as she is today, and Church might be able to comfort her.
"Ready?"
"Ready."
