A/N

This is the prologue:

Italicized is the actual R+J Prologue.

Normal is my version/translation of the prologue.

Disclaimer: I do not own the beautiful Romeo and Juliet prologue. I do not own R+J. That all belongs to Shakespeare.

R+R please!

Two households, both alike in dignity

Two very stuck-up families

In fair Verona, where we lay our scene

Who happen to live in Verona (Italy?)

From ancient grudge break to new mutiny

A stupid old fight causes new ones

When civil blood makes civil hands unclean

And these new fights cause problems for everyone

From forth the fatal loins of these two foes

A child from each of these two enemies

A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life

These doomed lovers kill themselves

Whose misadventured piteous overthrows

Their untimely death overthrows

Doth with their death bury their parents strife

Their death brings an end to the fight

The fearful passage of their death-marked love

The fearful passage of their doomed love

And the continuance of their parents' rage

And the ongoing feud

Which, but their children's end, naught could remove

Which, but their deaths, nothing could stop

Is now the two hours traffic of our stage

Is now this fanfic

The which, if you with patient ears attend

If you read on patiently

What here shall miss, our toil shall strive to mend

You'll soon understand what's not explained here.
