Chapter 2

Bridget's Point of View

Walking through the snow as Lucy led the way to her friends. Peter walked next to me I noticed that he kept looking at me out of the corner of my eye. "Is there something wrong?" Facing him as he blushed for getting caught staring.

"No nothing I um... was just wondering why you are wearing pants?" He placed a hand nervously behind his head as he spoke. Looking down realizing that I never changed when I was out helping my grandma in the garden before entering the wardrobe.

"Oh these? I was out helping my grandma gardening. They belonged to my da when he was around my age. I miss him so much."

"Did he um…" He didn't finish what he was saying when I shook my head.

"No but he went off to war but unfortunately went missing." Feeling the ache in my chest. Peter took my hand in his squeezing it making me feel a little better but the ache was still there.

"Our father is in the war as well." He looked back at his siblings as we continued to follow Lucy.

"By the way Bri your accent is weird are you from England?" Susan asked. Shaking my head looking at her.

"No I'm from Dublin Ireland. My mum sent me to my grandparents in Devonshire since I wasn't well at home."

"We're here. But what is this?" Lucy said looking up at the door that was built in the side of the mountain. It had been ripped off the hinges. Lucy ran towards the door.

"Wait up Lu," Peter yelled running up to catch her. We followed Lucy to the door looking inside the small house everything had been torn to bits. Edmund stepped on a picture that was on the floor.

"What happened?" I asked looking around at the claw marks. Peter pulled a piece of paper off the wall. It read of the arrest of Tumnus for fraternizing with humans and treason against Jadis Queen of Narnia. I felt my stomach tighten. The siblings were talking to each other as I continued to look around. A noise came from outside causing everyone's attention towards the door. It happened again and it seemed to becoming from a bird on a branch.

"Did that bird just psst us?" Susan asked. We went outside to get a better look on the situation.

Going over to a rock when something came out from behind it. A beaver. Peter knelt down and started clicking his tongue. "Come here boy," he said. The beaver looked at him then the rest of us. It wasn't acting quite like what the beavers do at home then it spoke.

"Well I aint gonna smell it." He said annoyingly. Lucy laughed and Peter said sorry and stood straight up. "Lucy Pevensie?'

"Yes?" She went up to him and then took what was in his hands. "It's the hanky I gave Mr. Tum..."

"Tumnus he gave it to me just before they took him. Come let's talk about this back at the house." Beaver started to leave I started to follow it but then Susan stopped me.

"We need to go back now." She warned us.

"But what about Mr. Tumnus?" Lucy asked. I put my hand on her shoulder and she looked at me.

"She's right we need to help him." I agreed with her looking at the others.

"You coming humans?" Beaver asked popping up from behind the rock.

"We're coming. We were just discussing," Peter explained looking at him.

"Talking is best left for a safer location." Beaver whispered making Lucy look up at the trees.

"He means the trees." She whispered to us so we decided to go ahead and follow him to his home. I couldn't say for the rest of us but I was freezing.

We followed Beaver as he spoke to Lucy who walked up front. I walked beside Edmund who seemed to be preoccupied with something between the mountains. Looking in the same direction as he was an ominous feeling tingled up my spine. Something evil lurked between that mountains. I don't know how to explain it just the feeling had every hair standing on end. "Everything alright Edmund?" He just looked at me, sneered and walked away. "Was it something I said?"

"Don't worry he's been like that," Peter said making me nod but I kept a watchful eye on Edmund as he seemed preoccupied with something.

"Do you have any siblings?" Peter asked making small talk.

"I did have an older brother." I told him looking down at the ground as we walked. I missed him so much.

"What happened?" He asked taking my hand.

"He died when I was ten. He was eight years older than me. And worked with da on the railway. There was an accident and five people were killed, he was one of them." I could feel myself starting to cry. Quickly wiping away the tears as I sniffed. "I'm sorry. It still hurts."

"It's alright I am sorry to bring it up." He squeezed the hand he still held. "What was his name?"

"William Daniel O'Sullivan. We were so happy. That is why I am worried about my da. If something happens to him I don't think my mum will be able to live through that as well. If it wasn't for my da we would have lost her when Will died." Looking up to the sky sending prayers that he would be found alive and unhurt.

We continued to chat as we followed Beaver through the snowy path. Some places were narrowed and slippery. If it wasn't for Peter I would have fallen and possibly started a domino effect with the others in front of me.

"How far is this place?" I asked as we stumbled down the now rocky terrain.

"I have no idea. Oh careful." He grabbed me as I slipped on loose rocks.

"Thanks." We continued walking this time in silence as we caught up to the others who were a bit ahead of us.

Author's Note: This was the shortest chapter and still will be but at least I added more details and story to this chapter. Again thanks for reading my rewrite of this story. ~Cerulean.
