The first night, she had welcomed the silence, reveled in the fact that she could finally have time to herself in such a long while …

Night number two, she accidentally made more food than she could eat, it being such a habit … Giving the extra pieces of meat a slightly sorrowful glance, the young woman decided to put them into the fridge, just in case she wanted a snack for later.

She woke up the next morning, grabbing for the empty spot next to her and fisting the comforter as she mumbled his name in agitation. Tangerine locks shadowed her eyes as she lifted herself into the deafening silence that was the apartment. Slipping on her day clothes, once again she made too much for breakfast. This time even going far enough to put it all on an extra plate … She washed it down the sink.

Her mood seemed to only turn even sourer as the day progressed. Coming home after work, she was dirty, tired, and extremely irritated. When she walked into the still stale apartment, her scowl immediately sunk into a deep glare. Not even bothering to make food, she merely showered and went straight to bed.

Day number four she had not gotten that much sleep, having kept raising her head from the bed for every creek and thump that echoed through the apartment. She didn't feel like going to work … nor did she feel like getting out of bed. Eyes staring blankly at the ceiling in boredom, she wondered idly why her days had recently gotten so out of whack. It took her till around two o' clock in the afternoon to finally get out of her bed and make herself something to eat …

Pouring herself a bowl of cereal, the young woman sat herself within the plush couch, and even managed to sleep there letting the day merely fly by. Something told her that today was going to be better. Maybe it was just her imagination or maybe it was merely woman's intuition. However, something seemed particularly good about today.

When her eyes flickered open and the fuzz had dwindled down from her vision, the young woman almost let out a cry when she saw one of the most welcoming things in this very sad week. It sat upon the television set, looking rather smug and appreciative in its return. However, there was no mistaking that old straw hat for anything. Her happiness seemed to have peeked when a loud clattering came from the kitchen as a falling pan echoed through out the whole atmosphere.

"Oi!" A voice rang out, "Nami, is the meat in the fridge still good?" Seemingly knowing that she had woken up, or maybe not knowing, but still wanting to wake her up for an answer. Unsteady feet moved her from the couch as she half stumbled upon dull limbs. Standing within the kitchen's entrance, she watched as a figure dressed within a red windbreaker, grabbed numerous contents from the fridge before finally turning around with the bundle within his arms "Ah!" He said as she came within his view. "... I'll … um …" He stuttered, looking around nervously, "… put it back."

Head tilting slightly, her hair was still uncombed, eyes a little baggy, and she most likely needed a good, long shower. However, none of these thoughts came within her mind as she approached him, carefully taking pieces of the bundled out of his arms and onto the table. His eyes giving her a questioning stare as she settled the last piece on the table, "Ommph!" The raven haired young man grunted lightly as his form was enveloped within a firm embrace. "Idiot …!" She murmured as her face buried itself within his neck, "Don't you ever make me miss you like that again …"

"Don't you remember you told me you loved me baby

You said you'd be coming back this way again baby

Baby, baby, baby, baby, oh, baby, I love you I really do

Loneliness is a such a sad affair

And I can hardly wait to be with you again" –Superstar by The Carpenters (Covered by Sonic Youth)
