Smiley

It was his trademark, something that described him. More importantly the young captain was almost never seen without it, and it wasn't his hat.
"What are you smiling about?" she used to ask him, watching as his attention would turn towards her. He wouldn't answer her. Instead his smile would widen, looking almost as if it were threatening to split his face in twain. Laughter would bubble out of Luffy, his attention shifting to something newer and more playful. Nami used to scoff at this though, thinking negatively of his attitude and the uselessness of spending your time dreaming of a world that simply didn't exist in this harsh un-fair reality.
"What are you smiling about?" the tangerine girl once heard a rival pirate ask her captain, and still even then when a blade was drawn and held dangerously close to his neck … Luffy would not answer, simply allowing a small chuckle to vibrate out of his throat and brush his skin slightly against the cold steel. And before a scream could even make its way to the surface of her mouth … it was over. The no name pirate now adorned the wall as her captain snickered in pure glee at the man's mistake of under estimating Monkey D. Luffy. Turning to her frightened form, the raven haired young man let out a glittering smile as he walked passed her and out of the bar they had been 'resting' in.
"Nami!" she shook her head, inwardly berating herself for drifting off like that. Turning her head towards the source of the voice, she was greeted by the stern and slightly annoyed form of Zoro. Eyebrow raised and looked to be slightly irked as well, the moss haired man jerked a thumb towards the crow's nest, "What's smiley doing up in the crow's nest?" Blinking and looking slightly lost on the subject, Nami craned her neck upwards to see her captain, his head rocking slightly as his straw hat caught some of the moonlight. Illuminating it ever so slightly, the rubber man leaned forward slightly resting his head within his palms as a soft frown covered his features.
Turning to Zoro, the tangerine haired young woman sighed, "I'll go find out." and then turned away from him and proceeded towards her forlorn captain.
When she finally reached him, he didn't bother to turn and look at her, not even giving her any kind of sign of acknowledgement. Nami approached him, leaning next to him as the straw hat captain's eyes stayed fixated upon the scenery before them, neither bothered to say anything. Tilting her head and giving him a sideways glance, the navigator watched as the wind played with his hair slightly. "What's wrong?" she finally asked after awhile.
Onyx eyes finally shifted towards her, giving her a longing gaze as he spoke, "Sanji changed where he hides the key…"
Eyebrows furrowing slightly, she asked, "Key?"
He nodded, "To the meat," His voice sounding absolutely miserable, "and I'm hungry…"
She didn't move, nor blink, or breathe. Merely gazed at the rubber man as his words sunk in, and when they did she didn't blow up, or in fact feel any kind of anger. Instead she did something that was completely unexpected of her.
"Oi…" She heard Luffy say, "What are you smiling about?"
She didn't really answer, merely letting a short laugh bubble out of her as she once again looked at the scenery in front of her before finally reciprocating,
"Idiot…"
