Rhaegan awoke slowly with a banging headache and heavy limbs. "Ugh, another one of these days" he threw on his clothes and trudged out the door, not really eagerly awaiting the day ahead.
Rhaegan was a small farmer boy, and he knew it, the he saw it, his days were filled with nothing but monotony. His eyes trail back to the erdtree as they always do and again dreamed of becoming a great warrior and battling against the despised enemies of the Erdtree, but here he was, farming in some washed-up village in Limgrave, oh how he dreamed of something greated.
He heard his mother call him back into the house for a meal however, so he marched back inside and sat down to eat his food, his mother looked over at him "Have you seen your brother out there? he went out earlier and I haven't seen him since" Rhaegan wasn't really surprised, his brother could never sit still, he was probably out fighting with again or something, he shook his head and continued eating, before he slumped in his chair, daydreaming. Though that wouldn't last long as his mother shooed him out so he could continue working.
Rhaegan wondered why he was toiling away for something he could care less about? maybe he'd make his own sword and become a sellsword or something. He could not continue these thoughts as a shrill shriek interrupted them.
He rushed to see what was happening and saw his brother getting mauled by a bear, huge too, bigger than any other he had seen. Sweat ran down his forehead as he contemplated whether to run or fight. But he found himself attacking the bear bare handed before he could realise what he was doing, but now the bear had turned towards him, bearing its claws and standing at his full height and roared. Now, this was bigger than any other animal he's seen in his entire life.
Rheagan was now terrified, he slowly reached down to pick up a stick holding it out in faux bravery, attempting to emulate the knights he had heard of in legend. He steadied himself and swung at the bear, but it simply swiped it out of his hands and sent him sprawling on the ground. The bear raised its paw, intent on finishing him, but right before it finished him, a great sword dove into it from behind, spraying blood all over Rhaegon.
The bear roared in agony, and weakly resisted before crumpling down, the light leaving its eyes. Rhaegan looked up and saw his saviour, a knight of Limgrave, beckoning him to grab his hand "You all right son? You looked like you were in a bit of bother." Rhaegan rubbed his eyes in disbelief, this was a real knight! Heroes of the lands between, but he soon jumped to his feet, but he had more pressing issues at hand "Hello sir, not to intrude on your work but could you please heal my brother, he's a bit stupid for getting himself into this but please help him" he had hoped he hadn't made a bad impression, but the knight just chuckled slightly "Well that is our job" he then motioned for his soldiers to heal his brother.
Rhaegan straightened himself and asked what he had been waiting to do for so long, after all, this chance wouldn't come twice. "Um, sir..." but the knight cut him off, "Enough of that, call me Joseph" Rhaegan bowed "Yes, sorry Joseph. Would you make me a soldier? It's all I've wanted to do my whole life."
Joseph looked over at him with an incredulous look, "You want to be a soldier? You know what that means? You know what it costs?" Rhaegan looked down and nodded his eyes avoiding the Knights, "Yes, I do, but I don't care, being a knight of the golden order has been my dream for as long as I can remember."
Joseph turned away, deep in thought, they already had enough soldiers as it was but something about this kid was different. He knew he had a fire in him, the kind that'll take you far, too bad his innocence won't last long in a job like this. Joseph sighed and turned around, "Alright kid, just don't make me regret it"
Rhaegan let out a breath he hadn't known he was holding and bowed down in respect, "You won't regret it sir"
A/N I apologise for how rushed and messy this is, I'd just rather get to the that part where he is a soldier ASAP
