"Doctor! What the Hell was that?!" I shouted looking around for some kind of alien. A woman, she sounded proud, and talked like she was wise.
"What? What did you hear?" He asked looking around as well, even though he had no clue what to look for.
"An alien! Some alien just put there voice in my head. A woman, she sounded confident, and smart." I said looking out into space for some ships.
The Doctor stopped looking suddenly and just stared at me.
I started to feel a little silly, like maybe I was over reacting.
"Why are you staring at me?" A small smile began to grow on his face.
"That's the TARDIS. She's alive, and occasionally she speaks to us." He ran up to the console, rubbing lovingly on the gadgets. "She talked to you.." He trailed off, lost in a world
"The ship. She talks?"
He snapped his head up to me, his tongue flipped up behind his teeth in an irritatingly sexy way. "Yes. She's telepathic. She doesn't talk often, just to those that matter or that she takes a liking too."
I took in his words, pondering them, pushing the sexy tongue out of my mind.
So she thought I was important?
"Umm, Hello TARDIS." I said a shakily, unsure if she could even hear me like that.
'Hello Kaitlynn.'
"Whoa. You talk. Okay that's cool. So, umm I don't know how to start a conversation suddenly." I was tripping over my words. Why did I feel so nervous talking to a ship?
'We all get nervous Kaitlynn. It is a normal reaction to uncertain situations."
I let out a breath, clearing my mind.
"Okay, so you were reading my thoughts?"
'No. You projected that one, it was a strong thought, that I happened to hear. Your mind is more open to telepathic powers than other humans. You expanded your mind talking to the war dogs, and you have little control over it what goes in or out at the moment. I'm sorry if you felt uncomfortable'
I shook my head, looking at the ceiling, "It didn't bother me, you're always welcome to my thoughts," I remarked, feeling a sense of wonder. I began to get quizzical, "You said, 'and so you shall be' What exactly did you mean by that?"
'You said you wished to be the Doctor's savor. I say that you shall be. He needs contact. He's been alone for so long. Friendship, and love, and compassion and adventure. It all makes up the Time Lord.'
I nodded again, even though I don't think she can see me. "I think I understand," my eyes flicked down to the Doctor, obviously listening to my half of the conversation, but pretending to look busy. "Thank you."
I walked up to the Doctor, tapping his right shoulder and then leaning on the console on his left side.
He looked right, and I smiled widely. "You fall for pranks!"
His head whipped around and he didn't respond to a minute before scoffing.
"Be quiet you. What to do now? Your choice." He said turning full towards me, doing that damn thing with his tongue again! I cleared my mind, knowing the TARDIS could read my thoughts and potentially tell the Doctor I have to try to keep my mind clean.
"Are you feeling guilty about the nasty spider alien?" I asked sticking out my lower lip in a mock pout, an unintended flirty tone in my voice.
He didn't respond at first, and just when I was thinking he wasn't going to, he began to speak.
"Yes. I don't like the thought of putting my friends in danger is all. Especially that much danger. Calagajs are seriously dangerous, you could have been killed! You're lucky to have gotten away with just a twisted and scarred ankle"
I shook my head, "Doctor it's fine. I knew this was gonna be dangerous, that's why I came. It's fun! The adrenaline rush, the quick thinking, saving lives. It's an amazing feeling." I paused for a moment, reading the Doctor's face. He looked away back to the console.
"Ayway I'm gonna go get some sleep for now. We can go visit a world with two suns and rings next. Just to see the sites." I put my hand gently on his shoulder, intending it to be platonic, but it didn't turn out that way. Tingles swept through my arm, forcing me to quickly retract my arm, and back away, nearly tripping.
'Come on Katy. The Doctor is not the right guy to have a crush on, be realistic.' I shook off the thoughts, moving away.
The Doctor's cheeks twinged pink when he realized what he was doing. He knew he shouldn't have his ear pressed against Kaitlynn's door, but he'd just been passing by when it happened.
"No of course not! Well you know probably not. Dis, I don't know what to do. This isn't healthy and it can't work."
He had originally thought that she was talking about someone else, and was going to just continue on his happy way. Only when he heard the second half of a conversation, it perked his interest.
"Wow. Really? 900 years old? That's crazy!" There was a pause, "Anyway, you just proved my point. Me and the Doctor can never work, so I need to just stop these feelings now."
At those words the Doctor found himself listening closely through the door. Only the words seemed to stop there, there was a long pause.
"Yeah? What was she like?"
There was another pause. 'What is the TARDIS telling her? and Dis?' He thought slightly bitter at the nickname.
"Wow... She sounds beautiful. The Doctor's wife. He never told me he was married." Her voice was filled with mystic wonder.
The beautiful brunette popped into his mind, the two of them standing on front of the church, her huge ceremonial bonding gown dress, his bonding robes. He was so young then, the two foolishly in love. Marriage doesn't often work with Time Lords. You change to often, drift apart. Being tied down isn't the best life. At least not for this Doctor.
"Well I can understand that he could be sad, but honestly, it was a long time ago. 500 years he's had to be traveling, getting into trouble. You'd think he'd have fallen in love again by now." her voice sounded full of disbelief that he could go this long and not fall in love again.
The Doctor quickly moved away from the door, forcing himself to not listen any more, quickly moving to his bedroom.
He lay awake that night like most nights, thoughts of the past overwhelming him until finally dragging him into a dark nightmare.
"It's your fault!"
"You killed us!"
"Have you no mercy for your people? No compassion?"
"Of course not! He's a murderer!"
His wife steps forward, looking apon him with regret. "Why ?" His name lost even on her lips
Soon the whole world fades black, leaving him in the dark. Alone.
"I didn't do it!" He shouted, "It's not my fault!"
All energy quickly drained and he began to sob, "Mother, father, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry..."
DOCTOR!
Doctor! Shhhh
Arising from his nightmare the Doctor found his head had been pulled into the arms of Kaitlynn.
"Kaitlynn, what are you doing?" He asked rubbing his eye, forcing a look of indifference, trying to sit up.
Kaitlynn held him down, shaking her head "I heard the screams of a man in pain." She moved his damp hair away from his face, "You had a nightmare."
"Well, really it was-"
She placed her single finger over his lips looking at him upside down, his head laying on her bust where she had pulled his in, "It wasn't a question."
He didn't say anything, just let her play with his hair, soothing him. relaxing against her warm soft body, drowsiness affect him.
He felt calm around her, safe and at ease, and felt himself being moved by her graceful hands, laying him flat, his eyes closed.
'Doctor, let this girl take care of you. I have scene her heart, and her soul. She is as pure as they come.'
The Doctor wanted to reply to the TARDIS that he had sworn off that life, but Kaitlynn's fingers, fixing his hair, and wiping away the tears of his dreams, she made it hard for him.
He repositioned his head, and felt his neck touch exposed skin. Soft, and squishy, he was laying on her thigh.
"Kaitlynn?"
"Yes Doctor?" Her voice sounded like she was asleep despite her seated position.
"Thank you."
She smiled in response, and began to hum a soft tune, familiar to the ears.
She sent him easily back to sleep with the soft simple lullaby.
The next morning when he awoke, Kaitlynn was asleep on her back, the Doctor laying on her shoulder, her arm drapped across his shoulders.
He snapped up, shocked that he had spent the night with her. Beside his sudden movements, she didn't stir.
Despite his better judgement he scraped his eyes over her beautiful features.
Smooth, even, and creamy pale skin, freckles dotting her cheeks and nose, with wild tangled hair from sleep, red like fire and gently and curled. Her lips were thin, and a pale pink color. The eye shadow and liner around her dark green eyes was smoky from being rubbed in her slumber. She had a small scar under her left eye, he inspected it shortly. It was smooth, and white; hardly noticeable to anyone not looking closely. Allowing his eyes dropping lower down her subtle jaw line, and her neck. Across her slender shoulder and down her smooth arm. Her moderate bust accented her wide hips and exposed pale thighs shown off by her simple silky sleeping shorts.
Everything about this woman; her face, her body, her compassion, her hope, her love for all things, her acceptance of all things set her apart from every other human the Doctor had met.
She was like a mother, a sister, and a caretaker to all life. Passion pouring out of her as she strives to make everyone happy, to protect everyone no matter how big or small.
'Doctor. You're staring.' The voice of the TARDIS filled his mind, puling his thoughts away from her.
He looked up to the ceiling, glaring still unsure of how she saw things.
He climbed out of bed, his mind foggy from the sleep he rarely got while he stepped into the hall outside his bedroom. He could almost still feel her warmth against him, her soft hair like a blanket, and her smell.
Like lemon square pastries, and apples.
'Do you fancy her Doctor?'
"Don't say Doctor like that, it sounds patronizing. And no of course I don't like her! I can't she's.." He trailed off, his brain finishing his sentences with the wrong words.
'She's what Doctor? Perfect for you?'
"She isn't perfect for me, don't be daft." The Doctor shook his head, wishing he could walk away from this conversation, but knowing he couldn't.
'She's compassionate. Caring. Selfless. Driven. Modest. Firey. Smart. Brave, and wise. Everything you are, but in a woman of agreeable attractiveness.'
"More than agreeable." He mummbled, turning back to the closed door, her face imprinted on his mind.
From the moment he saw her, he knew she was something special. Call it Time Lord intuition.
He shook his head, running his hand through his hair, mussing it up.
'What am I going to do with myself?!'
