Alright, so I had originally thought about not posting up a new chapter so soon, but then I thought what the hell and did it anyway with some edits and additions. Let me know what you all think!
The next day Ely woke up earlier than usual and walked around the lake to clear her head before having to talk to James. She knew there was probably going to be some hostility, since James still showed a clear dislike towards her, but she hoped she could at least get on speaking terms with him. It the way to know more about her parents and the life she could have had if they had stayed alive was to befriend James, then she would suck up her pride and do it. No one knew about this other than Remus. Sirius and Peter were to be kept on standby just in case James wanted to start firing at her. She was perfectly capable of handling herself, but she didn't want to hex James because she knew it would just close him off.
Ely walked into the Great Hall with a guarded presence around her. You wouldn't have thought she was the same person as she was in the winter ball unless you had seen her. Her hair was in two pigtails with silver bows, her bangs back to covering her scar. Lucius looked at her morbidly but quickly looked away when she looked up. Bella and Andromeda caught on to her change in mood, but didn't comment on it.
Ely ate in silence while listening to Dromeda retell what happened at the dance to Bella. Bella was happy that Dromeda was happy with Ted. Ely excused herself as she stood up and walked out of the Great Hall. Bella and Dromeda were worried about what was wrong with her, but figured she could handle it herself. Severus eyes followed her as she walked out, leaving him to wonder what exactly was she up to.
Ely had seen Remus with James, Sirius, and Peter leaving a few minutes before she had. She figured they were now in the Room of Requirement and Remus was waiting for her. Setting her mind on finding the door, it appeared and allowed her in. All heads turned to look at her.
"What is she doing here?!" James had his wand trained at her. Remus went up to her and turned to face James, strategically placing himself in front of Ely so James could in no way hurt her.
"She's here to talk to you James. Sirius, Peter, and myself are only here to stand by in case you decide to be violent." Remus explained and James glared at the four of them.
"Did you have anything to do with this?" James asked Sirius and Peter.
"I don't trust her!" Peter declared while hiding behind James. Sirius stood in the middle while shaking his head. He didn't have a problem with Ely like James and Peter seemed to have.
Ely stepped around Remus and stood in front of James. A table appeared in between them as Ely was pulling out her wand, and she placed her wand on the table and stepped away from it.
"I am not here to fight with you James. I just want some answers." Ely explained, James' defensive stance still not wavering in the slightest.
"I think she's telling the truth mate." Sirius said, now on Ely's side of the table standing next to Remus. "No wizard or witch wanting a duel would leave themselves defenseless."
"How could you think she's defenseless Sirius?! She probably knows some form of wandless magic." Peter questioned and Ely sighed.
"Even if I did Peter I wouldn't use it. I only want to talk." Ely pleaded, resisting the urge to give him a death stare. Considering he was a Gryffindor, Peter sure had no problem being a coward.
"What could you possibly want to talk to me about Taylor?" James asked, his wand pointing from Ely's head directly to Ely's chest.
"I want to know about my parents." As soon as the words left Ely's mouth, James faltered. He turned and glared at Remus.
"You told her didn't you? You weren't supposed to say a word Remus!" James was angry, but Remus wasn't about to give up.
"James, Ely lost both her parents before she was even 5! How would you feel living without your parents? She had a right to know! Your mum has the right to know…"
James seemed to soften when Remus brought up his mother. Tossing his wand on the table as well, he plopped down on one of the couches.
Sirius, Peter, and James sat on one couch while Ely and Remus sat on the other one. James almost looked at Ely tiredly, Peter was still edgy, and Sirius looked intrigued with what was about to unfold.
"What do you want to know Taylor? Humor me." James asked impatiently, and Ely nervously twirled a stand of hair in between her fingertips.
"How much do you know about me?" It was a very general question, but James tensed up. Ely immediately picked up on it and looked intently at him.
"Your dad was killed in a muggle car accident and your mum was hit by a killing curse." He said this rather stiffly, causing them to look questionably at him.
"Your mum doesn't believe either of those were random like the reports say." Ely inquired, James shaking his head in confirmation.
"Mum thinks all three of you were supposed to die in that crash. Something stopped your dad from being saved. It was dark wizards that got your mum."
"It was revenge from a pure blood family for my mum running off with a muggle born instead of marrying one of their own. Her would have been husband killed my pa, hoping I would have died in the crash soon. My mom was only supposed to save herself; he hadn't counted on her rescuing me as well. When he came to kill me, my mum protected me. Mum had made one of my toys a port key that would set off as soon she died. It took me to my aunt's house that was a few miles away. When she saw me, she headed to Australia to protect me. The wizard that did it is now in Azkaban, at least, that is what my aunt told me." Ely explained this as if she was reading it off the Daily Prophet. She knew what had went down to cause her parents' deaths, having longed accepted the fact that there was nothing she could have done to stop it, and found her peace when she found out that the man had been killed a couple of years later in a rather painful freak accident.
"You don't have to hide the scar Elanora, everyone that knows your story knows how you got it." James said in a tone of sympathy, seeing as Remus rubbed her back in comfort. James, who had yet to see the scar, had heard all about it, and would be lying to himself if he wasn't curious to see how badly it maimed her.
"How close was my mum and your mum?" Ely asked as she cleared her throat, fighting off the constricting in her throat that normally happened when she tried not to cry.
"My mum was a few years ahead of your mum in Hufflepuff. She was the one that encouraged her to go after my dad when my mum was a seventh year. Your mum was only a first year. She could never thank your mum enough. My aunt was a couple of years ahead of your mum and was a Hufflepuff too."
Ely and James went on like this for a while. Remus, Sirius, and even Peter had become so absorbed with what they were talking about, James spilling out most of the information while Ely filled in the blanks of what she remembered from her past life. By the time they had finished, all of them had somehow grown a closer bond with Ely than when they walked in.
Ely left the Room of Requirement with an outlook much more differently than she had ever seen from her past life. She already knew more about her mum than she had ever known before, and that was talking to James, whose mother wasn't even in the same year as her mum.
Making a mental list of all the students that she could talk to, she wondered how much more she was going to learn about both of her parents.
