Hi guys I am sorry for not updating sooner. Life got busy and before I knew it seven months had gone by!
I really will try to update again over the next few days as I already have ideas for the next few chapters.
I hope you enjoy this and as always any tips and ideas are helpful as I am not the best writer.
Cristina and Owen walked along Camden High Street and stopped in front of one of the many tattoo shops on the strip.
"Oh god Owen are you definitely going to do this with me" Cristina asked.
"Of course I told you besides I can't back out now you will think I'm a loser" Owen replied.
"No of course I wouldn't think that, but this is going to be on your body for the rest of your life" Cristina said.
"Well maybe that's a good thing, it will remind me of the day I spent with a rock star surgeon from Seattle." Owen smiled as he looked at Cristina.
They stood looking at each other for a few seconds before Cristina suggested they went inside.
"So do you have any ideas of what you want?" Owen asked.
"Hmm maybe I was thinking I have a tattoo that's a tribute to my dad. He passed away when I was a kid; he is the main reason why I became a surgeon." Cristina said.
"I am sorry to hear that, but I'm sure he would be extremely proud of you." Owen said.
"Thank you" Cristina replied. She was quiet for a few minutes whilst they looked through the books and decided what font she wanted on her tattoo. She also thought about how open she had been with Owen. She never spoke about her dad to anyone, not even her closest friends.
"Hey so have you decided?" Owen asked.
"Yes I think so; I am going to combine my two loves. Obviously I want my dad to be a part of my tattoo but I want to have something which represents how much I love my job and my passion for surgery. So I think I may have a caduceus, the symbol of medicine with Dad written underneath. I should probably have it somewhere on my body that is hidden just so I don't have it on show when I am in work". Cristina said.
"Yes I was thinking that too, I will probably have mine down my ribs on my right side." Owen said.
"Ouch you are brave, that is really supposed to hurt. What are you going to have done?" Cristina asked.
"I am going to have a Scottish stone cross tattoo obviously dedicated to my Scottish heritage." He replied.
"Oh that's awesome." She replied.
Cristina and Owen both got their tattoos done in a little over an hour. Cristina got her tattoo on the right hand side of her back above her shoulder blades. She nearly got the tattoo on her foot but realized as they were going to be sightseeing the rest of the day it was going to be better if it was placed on a different part of her body.
Once they were finished they were extremely happy with their tattoos and were both really looking forward to the afternoon ahead. They didn't get to see each other's tattoos as a dressing had already been placed to prevent any infection but they promised that once they were both healed they will show each other.
They spent another hour or so walking around Camden Market looking at all the different shops and stalls. They then went to see the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. Cristina was busy taking pictures of all the buildings and Owen was taking photos of Cristina in front of all the buildings she wanted to see. They stopped at Starbucks for a coffee and a quick break and then went on to see Buckingham Palace and St Paul's Cathedral. After walking around the busy streets of London for the rest of the day, they both decided they wanted to go somewhere quiet and less crowded. They ended up in Hyde Park and admired the beautiful gardens and scenery and even hired a row boat and sailed on the lake in the park. They even managed to get a photo of the two of them together in the rowing boat on the lake. They continuously chatted throughout the day discussing their families, childhood and their memories from growing up. Owen spoke to her about his two sisters and his mother and father who are all still in Scotland in the same town where they grew up. Cristina spoke about her mother and step father who live in California.
As the day was coming to a close, Owen suggested they go to the London Eye and watch the sunset from the big wheel. Cristina was amazed by the view; London looked so beautiful from above, the many nights illuminating the city and the river below. Owen wasn't looking at the view. He had seen the London skyline many times before, and he thought it did not compare to the beauty of Cristina. He couldn't tear his eyes away from her face. He thought she was the most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes on. He just wished she hadn't just got out of a relationship. Normally tonight he would have at least kissed her or told her how he felt however he didn't think it was the right time. She had only ended her relationship a few days ago and escaped to a foreign country. He wanted to be a gentleman and let them get to know each other better before they moved to the next level. There was also the issue of when she would be leaving, whether this was going to be in two weeks' time or a month. But Owen knew that he was falling for her and the thought of her going back to America and him never seeing her again filled him with dread and his heart ached at the thought of it.
"Hey so what are you doing tonight, Callie has asked whether I fancy going for a drink with her, Arizona and Teddy and I wondered whether you wanted to come." Cristina asked.
"Yes definitely we always try and grab a drink together after work when we can. It can be so hectic at times so we are so lucky when we manage to all have some free time together. Hey and hopefully you can finally meet Teddy. You two will definitely get along with your mutual love for the human heart." Owen said.
"Haha definitely although I will be rather jealous of her I've heard she is an awesome surgeon." Cristina said.
"Yes, she definitely is awesome but there is no need for you to be jealous of her. He is a very good person. What time did Callie say they were meeting?" Owen asked.
"Erm... well its 7pm now I think she said everyone is meeting at Joe's at 9pm. Do you need to go home and get freshened up first? Cristina asked.
"Yes I definitely could do with having a shower and a change of clothes since I have been in these things since this morning and have walked all over today. But I could meet you back in the hotel lobby for around 8.30pm. Is that ok?" Owen asked.
"Yes that sounds like a plan, I will text Callie and let her know what we are doing so she knows to expect us!" Cristina replied.
Owen smiled he definitely liked Cristina using the word 'us'. Although he didn't want to get his hopes up as Cristina did not show any sign of her feeling the same way.
Unbeknown to Owen Cristina was feeling the same. She had never felt this comfortable or herself with any man before. There was no pretense or expectation, they were just two adults getting to know each other and enjoying their time together. It scared her how quick her and Owen had built this bond, she was already disappointed that he wanted to go home and freshen up, she would have preferred them to go out to dinner instead but she knew they both needed to change their clothes ready for the night ahead. She was also worried that Owen didn't feel the same as her, she thought he might just be showing her round London because he was a nice guy and she was the lonely foreigner whose fiancé had just cheated on her and so she fled to another continent. But she was sure she felt something between them today, especially when they were on the London Eye, she felt Owen's eyes on her for the duration of the ride. Cristina scolded herself as she walked back up to her hotel room. She couldn't believe she was having all these thoughts; it was like being a school girl all over again. She had never had a crush on someone like this before, he just had to look at her with his gorgeous blue eyes and her knees went weak, the thought of Owen rejecting her made her feel nauseous.
Cristina showered a
nd freshened up; it was definitely needed after her very long day. She decided tonight she was definitely going to get all dressed up. She felt she needed to make herself feel better and also to try and subtly let Owen know she was interested.
She chose a red fitted dress which looked lovely and showed off her curves but wasn't too over the top for a night in the pub. She smoothed her curls and applied her make up.
At 7.25pm she made her way down to the lobby. As she approached the lobby she saw Owen was already sat there waiting for her. He was wearing a grey shirt which was a tight fit showing off the muscles in his arms and shoulders. She couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to unbutton that shirt whilst those arms were wrapped around her waist.
He looked up as she approached the bottom of the stairs. Their eyes locked and her heart began to race and her mouth went dry, she didn't know what to say.
"Wow you look beautiful." He said.
Hope you fuys ejoyed it and if you have time I will appreciate any reviews!
