Redburndragon - It's not fully to the level of Pokedex strength; some transformations are that powerful, others are not, due to sheer "WTF factor". Case in point is Marcargo and his sun-like body temperature.

TL;DR: Power levels are decided on a case-by-case basis. If you don't like that, you don't have to read this

Chapter 6 - Thanks for Nerfing the Psychic Type, Gamefreak!

Alex - Pokedex

What the fuck.

Wasn't the Simurgh supposed to attack later-

Wait, did we get the date of the attack?

Armsmaster takes control of the situation.

"All attending personnel. Report to the PRT building entrance immediately."

No time to contemplate I guess.

I look Taylor dead in the eye.

"You're not going."

Taylor is somewhere between denial and agreement; makes sense, heroes should go fight Endbringers. On the other hand, they're fucking Endbringers and they are scary.

"I can help!"

I do my best "really?" look, since Greninja doesn't have eyebrows.

"All your transformations don't give you ANY protection from the Simurgh. I am certain that the Omnitrix has anti-master protocols, but nothing on the level of the bitch of feathers. I would be okay with you going against Levithan, or Behemoth, especially Behemoth, but unless that watch pings and magically unlocks… I don't know-"

I freeze. I completely forgot- the Simurgh is used to dealing with organic lifeforms, with brains. I would be worried about Diamondhead, but NRG or Upgrade should still be able to avoid major brainwashing. Anything else, however, was off the table. I made my thoughts clear to Protean.

"You can go. But as soon as your transformation hits five minutes, turn into XLR8 and get back to rest for the next 5!"

I drag Protean along with the rest of the Protectorate members.

Assault looks visibly confused.

"Five minutes?"

"Protean has a limit on how long she can stay transformed. It's 30 minutes; although now that I think of it, you still don't have enough firepower to meaningfully threaten the Simurgh with NRG. Upgrade's reliance on available tech against the world's most dangerous tinkerer also doesn't inspire joy."

I think most of the Protectorate was lost after I started naming aliens with no sense of who NRG or Upgrade was.

"Just… stay safe, yeah? I don't want to explain to your dad why you didn't come home."

Taylor freezes, then nods nervously. I sigh, as we reach the lobby.

"Y'all got a picture of Canberra, or are we gonna wait here for Strider?"

The entire room looks at me like I'm insane. Until Taylor speaks up.

"Oh right, you can teleport people, right?"

And now everybody is awkwardly staring at me now, like "Holy shit this guy can do that?" as opposed to "What the fuck are you talking about?".

"Yes, but I need a picture of where I'm going."

Dragon accesses a TV, showing the Canberra landing site.

"Please wait, they're clearing the teleporter zone at the moment," Dragon advises.

"We also have members incoming," Lady Photon says.

While they're clearing the zone, I change into the transformation that'll help me get to Canberra. From Greninja, my height doesn't majorly change, but drop the smooth skin of a frog and gain brown and gold fur. I'm still humanoid, but I'm obviously not human due to the size and shape of my head, and I have an absolutely fabulous mustache. I reach out with my senses and feel for- ah the cafeteria. There should be metal spoons… found them.

The spoons fly out of the building and come back in through the front entrance. I grab them.

"Alakazam!" I say, posing with my hands up.

Clockblocker, Vista, and Aegis arrive. Must have been the only Wards with parental approval.

Shortly after, the landing zone is reported to clear, just as the rest of New Wave gets to the lobby.

"I am ready to teleport," I state.

"Command has cleared you to do so, Pokedex," relays Dragon.

I raise my hands again, and my eyes glow.

VWORP

-And we appear in sunny Australia.

We get off the teleportation zone, and Legend is up on the stage, readying to give his typical briefing/speech before a fight.

Most of his knowledge is stuff I already knew; Powerful psychokinesis, precognition, tinker abilities, and telepathy that can drive a man insane.

Someone hands out a bracelet to me. I reject it.

"Variable changer. One size does not fit all," I say to the cape handing them out. Nice cowboy hat. He nods and leaves to go find someone else to hand them out to.

"If you are able to take a hit, and deal it back to the Simurgh, go with Alexandria!"

"If you are able to fire off powerful blaster effects, you're with Eidolon!"

"If you have shaker effects that can slow down the Simurgh, Bastion will be your team leader!"

"If you are a mover of any kind, you're with me!

"If you don't fall into any of these categories, report to Chevallier at the medical bay!

As he finishes up, the Simurgh appears visible.

I see Taylor walk over to Alexandra's team. Makes sense; she would probably stick to NRG or Diamondhead against the bitch of feathers, and both are more suitable to close-quarters fighting than anywhere else, even with NRG's blasts and Diamondhead's shaker abilities.

I change back to my human transformation with a plain domino mask over normal clothes and check my phone. The fun thing about having media from home is that I can access my Pokedex app, and reviewing all possible ways I could take this is a good idea, in my humble opinion.

I filter the app so I only see the Dark types. Against something like the Simurgh, I'm not risking the chance that I may be brainwashed, and even resists will probably feel something.

I glance at the list. I need hyper maneuverability, and power, close-up, preferable, as Ziz is at her best at range.

Tyranitar? Too slow, and the sand from Sand Stream would probably be more of a detriment to the defence force.

Guzzlord? I feel for my power and feel blocked. Damn. Looks like Ultra Beasts are off the list as well.

Kingambit? Repeat the above about Tyranitar, except maybe more power depending on the number of people who have died.

Hydreigon? Can move, but is far more of a blaster.

Wait, can I do Paradox Pokemon?

I morph into Iron Bundle, a robotic version of Deliberd. I smirk with my beak.

I waddle over to Alexandria's team.

She glances at me and frowns.

"This is for the Brutes-"

"-Changer. Taking this form right now because the one I plan on using is too large."

Alexandria concedes and turns back to the dozen Brute. She requests that we all introduce our aliases and powers.

Shit, Aegis is here! Hi! Oh, there's Manpower, and that metal guy is probably Weld! No- he is Weld, he just confirmed it himself- oh! It's Taylor's turn.

"Protean. Variable changer can turn into different transformations for 30-minute intervals, and I have a 5-minute recharge time between those intervals. Large humanoid brutes, about 6 or 7 with lesser blaster and shaker abilities."

Alexandria looked vaguely interested. She turned to me.

"Pokedex. Also variable changer, no recharge time. The form I plan on using is at least Brute 7, more in sunlight. Has a Mover rating due to flight."

She nodded. She opened her mouth to give more instructions… and the Simurgh dropped down 50 meters behind her. I heard a beautiful, horrifying noise. That's all I can describe it as; a combination of musical notes that produce an entrancing effect, while also seeming to drive you mad.

The Simurgh's appearance was similar in a sense. A beautiful face, a literal angelic figure, but there was no warmth in her actions or features. Just death.

I really didn't have a plan or time to think of one.

However, in the great words of Captain Pete Mitchell, better known as Maverick:

"Don't think. Just do."

I skid forward on ice created with Iron Bundle's cryokinesis and transform.

I grow. A lot. Going from barely hitting Alexandria's knees to a 6 foot 7 lizard-like creature, with feathers instead of scales. I gain "wings" or more accurately, one giant wing, shaped like a crescent, which gives this creature its name. The song she sings abruptly stops. In reality, there was never any sound, to begin with; and the Simurgh can no longer affect me.

"ROARING MOON!" I rumble, as I charge at the bitch of feathers. I slash through a telekinetically thrown gas truck, barely noticing the explosion it created the Simurgh, leading with a Dragon Rush attack.

A cloak of green energy envelopes me as I ram into the Simurgh, driving her through the ground.

As I shear off chunks of her body with Night Slash, I realize that I should do a bit more thinking. The Simurgh shouldn't be able to overpower me, so as long as I kept her pinned, I could fire off Night Slashes until-

CRACK!

I hit the core. It's located where a human's stomach would be. I rear back from another swing, but Ziz decided to stop sandbagging. I am thrown back, with physical force, and the Simurgh rips parts off of skyscrapers forming… a jetpack?

Then the jetpack attaches itself to the Endbringer, and a force field appears. That makes a lot more sense, a forcefield generator. I charge at her again, coating myself in draconic energy again and hit the force field.

On a completely unrelated note, do you know what the french word for bread is?

PAIN.

I screech, my body smoking as I fall into a tailspin. I desperately try to pull up, cause otherwise, this is going to hurt, but a blur materializes below me, and after feeling pressure below me, I'm able to stabilize myself.

Alexandria flies up from under me. Her helmet is a dark visor, with only the bottom of her face showing. Her silky black hair spilled out from beneath the helm, and her body is covered by very light armour that has a dark colour scheme, with a rook on her chest as a logo.

"Thanks," I growled.

Alexandria seems to stare through me.

"The Simurgh grew increasingly hostile after engaging you. You have a reason."

That was not a question; it was a statement.

I nod. "She has a core in her chest, where her stomach should be if she was human. I assume that is some sort of weak spot."

Alexandria nodded and moved to contact the rest of the defence forces through her armband. I glanced back at the Simurgh, who still had her shield up, and was being held at bay by NRG, Dragon, and Eidolon. Legend, Lady Photon, Shielder, and Laserdream were part of a large group providing covering fire.

The NRG was replaced with XLR8 and disappeared. Shit.

I started to morph again. I didn't think physical engagements were going to help very much against the bubble protecting Ziz.

I shrink by a noticeable amount, though still maintaining my ability to fly. My hands turn into extra heads, I lose my giant wing, and I shriek a war cry to the heavens.

"Hydreigon!"

Having 3 heads is an experience. It should be trippy, but it really isn't, even with increased sensory input of 3 different sets of taste buds, noses, ears, and eyes. Makes me feel like I see all, know all, or something like that- I dunno man.

I fly towards the downed Endbringer. Around it, there are multiple bodies, a majority of which are some of the Brutes that Taylor and I met with before the Simurgh engaged us.

The Simurgh was unable to rise; Eidolon was rendering it unable to fly with some power, and the rest of the blasters provided fire trying to break the shield.

I should probably help with that.

My two arm-heads fire out Dragon Pulses. I keep my main head free of attack and glance around the battlefield.

… The force field isn't breaking, but it gives an electric shock. From my main head, I fire a Hydro Pump… and immediately regret it as I fall to the ground half-dazed.

An imaginary voice reminiscent of the deadpan of one of my very good friends says "You just fired a spout of water. Into a taser-inducing force field. Dumbass." The dumbass was implied, he never directly insults you, but he sure lets his tone do so.

Another imaginary voice sounding suspiciously like J.K. Simmons tells me to think, and I do, cause obviously brute force ain't working.

Electricity, electricity, electri- ground.

In Pokemon, the ground type is immune to all forms of electric damage. Unless it's Ash's Pikachu, but we don't talk about that.

Ting-Lu may be a legendary, but there's another ground-dark type that is available for me to transform into.

I regained my bipedal form, now looking like a giant red crocodile, with sharp claws, gleaming teeth, a gaping maw, and black highlights.

"Krookodile!"

I approach the Simurgh and the shield, who appears to be focused on her tinkering. That's not good; should probably break her stuff.

I charge at the shield, hearing a vague "NO!" from a female voice.

I make contact. The shield sparks, but I feel no pain. I push through the force field. Still no pain.

I'm now fully in the force field around the Simurgh, and she still hasn't noticed me.

"STONE EDGE!"

In the games, Stone Edge summons giant, sharp, rock formations to stab the opponent from below.

In reality, I get a lot of control over the shape of the rocks.

The tech she was working on is shattered to pieces by a pillar, and more jagged rocks form a makeshift, 50-meter by 50-meter arena. I've boxed her in, forming 15-meter-high walls that she would need to fly out of. I don't give Ziz the chance.

"Smack Down!" For those not in the know, Smack Down interferes with the flight ability of the target, psychically powered or not. How does it work? I don't know! But thanks to GameFreak for putting it in the game. Sure enough, Ziz's wings are touching the ground instead of hovering in the air.

Now, to bring the pain. I needed strength, at all costs. Mobility or range be damned. Though my next transformation has a decent blaster rating.

I grow in size, to the point where I'm a 3 quarter height of Ziz herself. I grow jagged spikes on my back, and green armour though I have a blue core from my pre-evolution. I snarl.

"TYRANITAR!"

I growl and attack the Simurgh, firing Rock Blasts at the Endbringer as I approach her. She attempts to escape by breaking down her earthen prison with her telekinesis, but as she moves to flee-

Pursuit.

I materialize right next to her, and send her sprawling into the center of the impromptu arena with the attack.

Pursuit is a technique used to hit fleeing opponents. Tyranitar specifically was heralded for its usage of the move in competitive singles, at least before Pursuit was removed from the game in Pokemon Sword and Shield.

And here, it led to Endbringer at my mercy.

I roar, and charge, this time with no more ranged potshots. The Simurgh pulls out a tinkertech gun, and fires.

Shit, it's a water gun. Not the move, an actual water gun. And I'm weak to water moves.

Alexandria

I observe Pokedex, who has single-handedly managed to engage the Simurgh and keep her at bay.

There have been minimum casualties, with only a few brutes dying due to the force field… which Pokedex survived.

Then, another transformation proceeded to outright ignore its effects before turning the large beast that was successfully hitting the group.

Then the Simurgh fired a torrent of water at Pokedex whose eyes had widened.

He was weak to water. Shit.

I dropped down; I was going to help keep the Simurgh boxed in after Pokedex sprung his trap, (although it is very strange; why didn't the Endbringer fly out of the arena Pokedex made?) but he was too valuable of a fighter to let him go down.

I drop in front of the torrent, taking most of the water. I turn around… and Pokedex is gone. In his place is… a giant green stuffy.

I froze… and heard a shriek from the Simurgh.

I look behind me, and see an army of oversized, bipedal frogs staring down the Endbringer

Pokedex

I blend into my double teams; the Simurgh can't tell which one is the real one due to the dark-type spoofing her telepathy.

Even as all of my clones leave slash marks on the bird, she keeps regenerating. Alexandria joins the fray, and she has similar success as I (read: none at all). Eiodolon flies in from what I assume is his break to reset the Simurgh's song, and fires a red blast of energy at Ziz. No lasting effect, and I'm running out of clones. Even if I make new ones, I don't think I'll generate enough force to beat it.

Damn it, why did I pick Acclimation!

If only I could stop the Endbringer's regeneration-

… no fucking shot.

I scream "BUY ME A MINUTE, I NEED TO CHECK SOMETHING!"

The world's strongest (shard-based) Trump, looks at me confused, but Alexandria gives me a nod.

I hide behind a rock… and pull out my phone. From… where the hell did I pull it from? Wait since when could I access shit from my base fo- wait Endbringer, focus Alex.

I pull up the Pokedex app, and rapidly filter down to Pokemon who can learn the move I'm looking for.

Sivally's the only dark type that can learn it…

I try to transform, but am unable to. Which leads to panic. Were there limitations I was unaware of? Why did the ROBby-P not tell me about the adjustments? Did she-

A note smacks me in the face.

Sivally's a legendary, dumbass.

Ohhhhhhhhhh.

I turn to my next best option; Bronzong. I faintly hear the song of the Simurgh, but it's a very small voice in my head, which makes sense- Bronzong is quad-resistant to psychic, after all.

I pop back into the now-destroyed arena. The Simurgh had regained her flight, and was duelling… the Triumvirate.. and TAYLOR?!

Sure enough, NRG was firing blasts at the Endbringer, while the bitch of feathers kept her distance and hurled debris at her. Tay didn't do much to hurt her, but was also distracting Simmy significantly without getting hurt, which has to count for something.

I glanced around the battlefield.

Alexandria? Trying (and failing) to do lasting damage, with punches and hits.

Eidolon? Ditto, but an occasional energy blast of a random colour is thrown in.

Legend? Just using energy blasts, makes a lot of sense. No Brute rating so…

Anyway, time to see if this hair brained idea worked.

I raised my metal limbs.

"Heal Block!"

Energy radiated out of me, and flew out to meet the Simurgh. The energy then formed a black miasma, that entered the false angel and disappeared.

I change back to Roaring Moon, and go in for a Dragon Rush.

She dodges, but a still tear off a significant chunk of her torso.

The wound doesn't heal.

Jackpot.
