Chapter 1: From the Ashes

A Prologue by Tony Mark RedPriest17

Adrenaline rushing, scary, and high impacting were just a few of the words that G'nolga could think of that could possibly describe her current situation. Her face was bruised and her blue green dress was torn and tattered. But at least she didn't look as bad her opponent who wielded bruises all over her body and large tears in her pinkish outfit.

Though G'nolga had come to this fight prepared, she never thought she would be fighting this hard. Every movement timed, every moment counted. One flaw, even one minuscule slip of the wrist and she would find her self in a world of hurt, not to mention she would lose her title as Armsmaster and her honor as a martial artist. For a warrior, martial arts were everything Martial arts were life. A whistle mute atmosphere as a roundhouse kick was lashed directly at her head. She leaned back slightly to dodge the move delivered by her fiery haired opponent. Her opponent was seven foot of athletic built with a slender top with red hair and green eyes.
G'nolga (Thinks): What a pathetic move? Leaving yourself open and off-balance G'nolga had known her opponent for years, having fought with her on several occasions, always resulting in a tie as they were equal in skill. And for many years, her rival had never disappointed either. But at this very moment, it would seem the scales have tipped. The dwarf woman smirked as she crotch down and swept the seven-foot red hair woman before her. The giant of a woman had a look of shock on her face as she fell forward. G'nolga knew as soon as she hit the ground something on her body was going to break Which she had no problem with.
G'nolga (Laughs): Ha! I win.
But then the unexpected happened. She saw her opponent's face change from a surprised expression to a fit of rage. The red hair woman threw her hands out, grabbing on G'nolga shoulder, bring her to a halt.
G'nolga (Surprised): W, what!?
The woman proceed to use G'nolga as a springboard as she flipped behind her, landing with her stomach falling the ground, her hands supporting her weight while her feet clamp themselves to the sides of G'nolga's head. Letting out a battle cry, the red haired giant, using all of her body strength, shifted her weight in a full circular motion. G'nolga's body was flung like a rag doll before being sent airborne towards the stadium seats. The dwarf woman pinned her eyes shut as she descended upon the seat.
G'nolga (Scream): No! JUUUULLLLLIIIIIIIIIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
And then the darkness took over and she found herself being smothered by the void or whatever the darkness could be She reached out to the black curtain only to find herself in a bedroom. G'nolga looked around recognizing where she was. She was back in the Joketsuzoku village on Earth and not within the Tournament of Arms stadium in Jade. She was no longer wearing her blue green dress, but a white night gown. It had been five years since she lost her Armsmaster title to That giant That bitch, Julia Her only reason for being in this village or in the Earth Realm for that matter was to settle a personal score with her rival, to win back her glory, her honor and her people's pride. Unfortunately, that too had been robbed from her by unknown undead specter.
Voice: Are you having that same nightmare again?
G'nolga turned her head to the door way to find an elder woman, no more than a foot tall, standing at the doorway clinging onto a two foot wooden staff. Her face was scarred by wrinkles acquired through decades of experience and hardship. Her white withered hair, being held up by a blue headband, stretched down all the way passed her greenish red robe.
G'nolga (Frowns): Yeah, Cologne! It was that dream again.
Cologne: G'nolga how many times do I have to tell you that there was nothing you could have done about it? Stop dwelling on it or you'll continue to have nightmares. Well, it's morning. You should wash up and come to breakfast. We can talk about it more over a hot meal.
Later that afternoon, within the dinning room of the long house in Joketsuzoku, G'nolga sat at the dinning table staring out the window, watching the female dominant population. Every face reminded G'nolga of her. Her attention was avert; however when she notice a familiar long-raven haired Amazon woman name, Diao Bei, walking with her spouse and two children. Diao Bei was second in skill to her own. A hard-ass and a dedicated practitioner of the art, it was once thought that she didn't have any interest in having a normal social life. G'nolga never thought Diao would lower herself in becoming a mom, moreover a wife.
Cologne: What are you looking at or are you thinking about Julia again?
G'nolga (Narrows eyes): Sort of Cologne: Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do. I receive word from your friend Agath that Julia was teleported back to the Jade Realm. The person responsible for it was Theodore's father, Jonathan Diggers. The Aura Mage's father was turned into a Lich, after messing around with some experimental spells The amateur.
G'nolga (Sighs): Yeah, and Agath won't be back for the next five years now so I'm stuck here for the time being Cologne (Smiles): Well, if I were you I wouldn't waste my time pouting and foaming out the mouth like a wild boar.
G'nolga shot a glare at Cologne, who returned her glance with a smirk.
Cologne: Maybe you should continue your training. You know Julia slowed down a bit after having that child.
G'nolga: What? Julia got knocked up? Are we talking about the same Julia here?
Cologne (Chuckles): We martial artists maybe dedicated, but not all of us are going to keep our legs crossed for the rest of our lives like you.
G'nolga attempted to retort, but could only push at the comment. A sound of laughter came from the doorway of the living room as a lavender hair girl wearing a pink silk oriental outfit, made her way to the table.
Cologne (Happy-Go-Luck Smile): Good morning Lotion.
Lotion (Smiling Back): Hello, Grandmother. Are you picking on G'nolga again?
Cologne: It's not my fault she's still a virg-.
A hand cut off, Cologne before she could finish. G'nolga was standing in her chair, lean forward over the small wooden table with her hand clamped over the elder woman's mouth. Despite her hand covering Cologne's mouth, she could tell by the _expression of her eyes, she was smiling mischievously at her.
G'nolga (Glares): Look, I didn't train sixteen years just so I could become an overweight mother. I'm not putting out to any guy.
Cologne: That's only a matter of opinion. I have had several children during my lifetime and I can still show you a thing or two.
G'nolga (Chuckles): Please, old woman. Julia or I can take you on by ourselves. How do you think I got the Armsmaster title?
Cologne's eyes narrowed. It's true. G'nolga had beaten her many years ago for the title. She had no excuse on why she had lost. G'nolga won doing a flying kick to the side of her head, sending her out of the ring. The dwarf woman was more gifted than Cologne was, or had been when she was in her the prime of her youth.
Cologne (Sighs): Indeed I'm just saying you need to move on from Julia and do something productive with your life, like start a family. Your mother was a good friend of mine and a fine martial artist, and you've surpassed her a great deal, but it would be sad to see traits of such a strong martial artist like yourself not being passed onto the next generation. I'm speaking to you, dwarf to dwarf here.
G'nolga (Rolls her eyes): Whatever.
Lotion: You know G'nolga, grandmother is right. You should settle down. You should see Diao Bei.
G'nolga (Frowns): Yeah, I've seen her. She has two kids and is married to a mule.
Cologne smirked and shook her head at the comment as she headed for the living room.
Lotion: Yes, but she's still a good martial artist and hasn't slow down a bit. My husband Koral and I have been happy since we got married two years ago, and I haven't slowed down yet. We plan on having a child in near the future.
G'nolga (Smirks): Well, keep trying, hon Like with mixing any magical race with the 'base-type', Dwarves and Humans take a while to produce to children. Hopefully, you being a half-breed should make it easier. Besides, I think it's good that you're trying to have a child anyways.
Lotion stared at G'nolga because of that comment. A smile appeared on her face, and a somewhat 'light-hearted' attitude could be felt around her.

Lotion (Face light up): You really think so?
G'nolga (Smiles evilly): Yeah, you always weren't much good for anything else, but spreading your legs Lotion froze for a moment while her eye twitched manically. Seeming to calm down, Lotion went over to a weapons rack and took a long saber off the mantle.
Lotion (Shouts): Die you midget bitch!
Cologne sighed and shook her head as she looked back from brawl in the dinning room before taking a couple of puffs from her pipe.

A couple hundred miles from the West of the Joketsuzoku village, within the snowy cliffs of the Himalayan Mountains, it's the afternoon now, the gray clouds in the sky cover the whole atmosphere around the mountain as if were a blanket. The Dragon King knew that could signify the coming of a blizzard. The monarch wore a navy mail with green-scaled armor clad over it and light green cape attached to it. His hair was snow white with streaks of blue in them. His eyes were glowing blood red and he also had a fang popping out of his mouth. Behind him were a platoon of his soldiers, all dressed in red medieval armor and in front of them were his two tenants.
Male Voice: Hey, Salt, I think he went up there.
The man wore a navy blue robe with gray pants. On the back of both his hands, as well as the side burns on his face, were covered with large amounts of hair streaking from his blue mane. The retinas in his eyes were gold and fang popped out of his bottom lip.
Female Voice: No, Pep, I found his foot prints over here.
The woman had long orange hair with black stripes within them, and the most feral-
looking green eyes. She wore a black dress, a black leather vest, a gold tiara, and around her arms she were gold wristbands.
Second Male Voice (Flinches in annoyance): No you buffoon, those are tiger tracks! And you, you idiot! THAT trail leads to a wolf's niche! Salt and Pep, will you two, stop thinking between your legs and let's find my brother before nightfall. If he gets word back to my father, I'm done for!
The man began to emit a bright red aura as his anger began to rise. Both Salt and Pep slowly stepped in an effort to avoid being a target of their master's aggression. Salt Pep: Y, yes, master Ryuu!
Suddenly one of the soldiers accompanying Ryuu ran to his side.
Soldier (Shouts): Sire, Thyme is coming!
The soldier pointed to the cliff side above. Ryuu's eyes follow in the direction his finger point, spotting a speed object, kicking up a mist of snow in its wake. Surprisingly, the figure out to be short haired raven hair man with feline olive green eyes riding a wooden board, wearing a wool cloak, a faded gray shirt with black pants. Strings were tied to the bottom of the leggy near his shoes, preventing wind resistance. Ryuu frowned as he shot a one-handed ki blast at the cliff. Unfortunately, the explosion from the ki blast just had the effect of boosting the cloaked figure's jump as he flew through the air over their heads, sailing hundreds behind them and disappearing down the mountain.
Ryuu (Shouts): Thyme!
Thyme (Smirks as he boards) HahaHA! Sore loser! HAVE A NICE TIME GOING BACK DOWN THE MOUNTAIN!
Salt makes her way to her master's side and position herself in front of him.
Salt: Master, he's heading down the mountain.
The Musk Prince Ryuu stares his loyal, (if somewhat dimwitted) servant in the face.

Ryuu (Yells): I know that!
Pep proceeds to do the same thing, which was telling his master of the obvious.
Pep: Once he gets down a mountain, there is no telling where he-
ZAAAPPP!
Both Pep and Salt found themselves on the ground, charred and twitching slightly.
Ryuu (Angrier, yells at the top of his lungs): I KNOW! I CAN SEE THAT, YOU MORONS!
Ryuu turned to his soldiers.
Ryuu: I want you all to follow him. Salt and Pep, you two will come with me!
Pep (Coughs up smoke): HACK! Where are we going?
Ryuu: If we are to catch Thyme, we will need to get some help from our neighboring enemies. I'm going to cast a spell to keep Thyme confined in the area he is in. Pep, I want you to go to Joketsuzoku village and send word of our coming. If the matriarchs ask why the atmosphere is suddenly a blizzard, tell them it is the work of Thyme in an effort slow us down. Tell her we wish to come to a compromise. I'm sure that at least Cologne will side with us in getting rid of a Musk member if means gaining peace If only for a little while Do not fail me or I will kill you.
Pep (Gulp): Y, y, y, YES SIR!
Ryuu smiled evilly as Pep disappeared down the mountain.
Ryuu: Salt, you come with me.
Salt: Yes, Sir!

Cologne: Leaving so soon? Where do you plan to go?
G'nolga, now dressed in a blue oriental outfit, threw her an over-sized backpack over her shoulder as she made her way to towards Cologne near the entrance of the village.
G'nolga: Yep, I'm going to the city of Canton to continue my training. I thought coming here would help clear my head so I can improve my skills, but all I can do... Is think of my defeat at the hands of my rival, Julia. I need to travel around a bit until I can find a place to clear my head.
Cologne: I see. When do you plan to return?
G'nolga (Sighs): I don't know Maybe when I'm more focused.
Cologne: I'm sure you're going to find what you are looking for out there. I'm proud of you.
Cologne smiled, caused G'nolga to blush. The old women hopped over to the dwarf Amazon and placed a hand on her should.
G'nolga: I, I, I have to go. When I return, I'll be a better woman.
Voice (Shouts): Wait!
Both dwarf women spun around to find Lotion running up behind them. In her hand, she carried a bundle of cloth tied down with a ribbon.
Lotion: Don't forget your nun-chucks, macho midget.
Instead of losing her cool as usual, G'nolga smiled at the comment and hugged Lotion. She removed her weapon from the cloth, relieving its shiny wooden surface to the whole world. It was an unusual Morning Star as since the weapon was twice as large as of normal sticks and chain. On one side of the wooden weapon, the words "Elmira Daft" were inscribed in gold lettering. G'nolga smiled at names of her late parents. Lotion smiled too as she wiped away the tears from her eyes.
Lotion (Sobs): I'm going to miss you!
Motion embraced the dwarf woman in a hug.
Cologne: So will I As well as the rest of the tribe G'nolga, to her left, could see the whole tribe waving her goodbye; she waved back to the rest of tribe and Cologne before heading the pathway, yet she continue to look back at Cologne and the village until it disappeared behind the trees of the forest. Many hours began to past and night fell upon the land. An ice-cold wind brushed over G'nolga's shoulders. The dwarf woman examined the air around her. It didn't take her long to discover icicles on the trees. It was strange to see winter wind and icicled trees in summertime.

G'nolga (Thinks): That cold wind, it has to be the doing of eerie magic. Someone or something must be casting a big spell, and it seems to be causing a rip in the space and time continuum At least weather-wise.
Oddly, after a day or two of traveling, snowflakes began to fall, slowly covering the green health leaves in pure white snow. The aura in the atmosphere was becoming insanely erratic. The wind started to pick up, picking up debris and tearing down tree-
limbs. G'nolga eventually found herself barely able to move forward as the icy breeze and snowflakes cut into her flesh, freezing her to the bone. As the blizzard continued to become stronger with every passing minute, the dwarf warrior was soon airborne, flying diagonally through the trees.

Back on the Himalayan Mountains, many days have passed for the lost warriors of the Musk Dynasty. Salt along with the other Musk soldiers watched as their master Ryuu recited a hymn in a mysterious unearthly language in direction where the rouge prince had disappeared day ago. The tigress took note of an object being tossed through the air in the distance several miles from the mountain. Elsewhere, the Musk prince Thyme made his way to a nearby mining cave. The snow covering ground was now over a foot deep, making it difficult for him to travel.
Thyme (Thinks): This is Ryuu's work. Using a damn Snowstorm Spell to slow me down Doesn't he know big spells affect everyone? I got to get to some shelter quick. My half-blood may allow me to trap heat, but for how long?
Suddenly, he heard a scream break through the roaring winds. He spun around to investigate the source of the sound, but he found nothing, yet he could hear the scream coming closer and closer until he saw two thighs connected to a pelvis fly towards him then blacking out from the impact soon after colliding with the foreign object.

Author's Note: Well that was certainly a ride, wasn't it?

I really want to thank Tony Mark. I had not asked him to do this, and he had no obligation to, yet he went and wrote a side-story. I told him what I wanted to do for Ryoga, but was having trouble finding time to write. (College is evil). He helped me. You should thank him for kick-starting "Broken Hearts Combined".

So, in honor of Tony Mark's hard work, this is an official prologue of my Ranma and Gold Digger fic, "Broken Hearts Combined". It takes place during chapters 45 and 46.

Hope you enjoyed.
