It's a cloudy day. At camp, a few yards away from the crew, poochyena barks at a bounty head named Panchor who is hand cuffed to a tree. He kicks a rock at poochyena.
PANCHOR: Shut up you stupid puppy!
Ellie falls from the tree, hitting Panchor on the head and then lands on the grass. On the grass, Ellie rolls back and forth, then lies still. Panchor taps Ellie's head with his foot. Ellie growls and grabs him.
PANCHOR: What are you doing?
Ellie bites his ear.
PANCHOR: (yelling in pain) AHHHHHH!
Panchor shakes her off and Ellie grabs his leg and bites his thigh.
PANCHOR: (yelling in pain) AHHHHHH!
Near the tent, a few yards away, Zet looks into an old watch that stopped ticking long ago. He remembers his past. He remembers a rainy night, a letter, and the watch.
MAX: Hey Zet.
Zet comes to.
MAX: I'm asking ya, how much longer before we leave?
ZET: (taking down the tent) How long ya been standing there?
MAX: I've been here for a while.
ZET: (taking down the tent) I see.
VIVI: What are you spacing out about?
VIVI: Where is my bounty?
VIVI: Can't you pack up quickly, so i can hand over that musty looking fugitive?
MAX: You haven't even gotten ready yet.
ZET: (folding the tent) I know already.
ZET: (folding the tent) You 2 are so obnoxious.
ZET: (folding the tent) Don't rush so much and take care of the burnt logs from the camp fire for me!
Zet calls Ganymade police.
VIVI: I thought Ganymade was your home turf.
VIVI: Were you perhaps thinking about some girl in the past that you searched for?
Vivi catches Zet's attention.
VIVI: Or perhaps a girl that searched for you?
ZET: (holding his walkie talkie cell phone radio) Didn't you hear me when i said you're being obnoxious?
An old officer receives his call. It is one of Zet's old friends, Donelly.
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) Yes!
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) This is Ganymade police.
ZET: (talking on his walkie talkie cell phone radio) Donelly!
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) Zet, it's you.
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) There's no mistake.
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) Your voice has gotten a little deeper, but you're still Zet alright.
ZET: (talking on his walkie talkie cell phone radio) Long time no hear, Donelly.
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) I'm surprised that you're working around here.
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) Has it been like 3 years?
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) Maybe 4 years to be exact.
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) What the heck's up with you coming back so suddenly?
ZET: (talking on his walkie talkie cell phone radio) I wanna hand over a bounty head.
ZET: (talking on his walkie talkie cell phone radio) Wanted ad number EX41285.
ZET: (talking on his walkie talkie cell phone radio) Panchor Baker.
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) I'm glad you're a bad dude bounty hunter.
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) You, who was once called the "Black Poochyena.".
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) A mad poochyena that never let go of things bitten into.
ZET: (talking on his walkie talkie cell phone radio) I thought you had already retired.
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) Hey, i'm still an active officer.
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) Don't judge things on your time scale, you Rip Van Winkle, you.
A few feet away, after taking care of the burnt logs, Max and Vivi talk about Zet's past.
VIVI: He used to be like a cop.
VIVI: That explains it.
MAX: Explains what?
VIVI: Why he and i don't get along.
MAX: Ah, because he's an ex cop trainee and you're an ex con trainee.
VIVI: Yeah!
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) Any way, when you get to Ganymade, there's some one who's been in some under cover debt deals and when i say under cover, i mean illegal.
ZET: (talking on his walkie talkie cell phone radio) Who's that?
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) I can't seem to remember her name.
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) I know now.
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) It's Alisa.
ZET: (talking on his walkie talkie cell phone radio when his mood changes to shock and depression) Her!
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) She's got a little joint in the port of Marvis.
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) A small diner called "Late Finn".
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) In this bad economy, i hear she's got a lot of debts to pay off.
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) I'm sure there are a lot of problems for a 12 year old girl trying to live alone.
ZET: (talking on his walkie talkie cell phone radio and sounding shocked and depressed) Yes!
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) Good luck catching this bounty head.
ZET: (talking on his walkie talkie cell phone radio and sounding shocked and depressed) Yes!
They both hang up at the same time.
Later, outside a police station in Ganymade, Max and Vivi collects the small 600 dollar bounty reward money from a machine, after giving Panchor Baker to the cops. They each put their 200 dollars in their pocket. Zet, having already collected his share of the reward money, left prior to them leaving the Ganymade Police Station.
VIVI: (walking away from the machine) Sense of justice and duty, huh?
MAX: (walking away from the machine) First time in a while since he's seen her, so of course he's gonna go visit her.
VIVI: He's totally wrong if he thinks his former girl friend still thinks about him.
MAX: You're totally wrong your self if you think every girl thinks like you.
MAX: They don't by the way.
VIVI: What ever.
Later and else where, at the beach, Vivi prepares for a tan.
VIVI: (rubbing sun tan lotion on her arms) Boys are idiotic romantics.
ELLIE: Why are you rubbing that stuff on?
Vivi stops rubbing her self with sun tan lotion and puts the bottle of it down and lays down.
VIVI: (laying on the sand) Beautiful skin is maintained by continued effort that seems futile.
VIVI: (laying on the sand) Do you under stand?
ELLIE: I don't know.
Else where, Zet enters a diner and he sees a shady 14 year old boy named Rint.
ZET: Is this "Late Finn"?
RINT: Yeah and you are?
ZET: An old friend of Alisa's.
RINT: Alisa is busy.
Alisa emerges from the back room.
ALISA: You can't be.
ALISA: Are you really Zet?
ALISA: Rint, he is my guest.
ALISA: It's alright.
Rint walks out.
ZET: You don't mind?
ALISA: I don't any way.
ALISA: How about it?
ALISA: You want a glass, right?
Alisa pours Zet a drink of orange soda.
ALISA: You're my last customer.
ALISA: I'm closing the shop.
ALISA: The number of ships decreased and this area has gotten desolate.
ALISA: I'm thinking of moving to a new town.
ZET: Are you alright?
ZET: On the new island cities, mortgages are very expensive.
ZET: Will you be able to manage all that?
Alisa smiles.
ALISA: That's so like you to worry about such things.
ALISA: I'm planning to reinvent my self in a new town.
ALISA: Rint is here with me.
ZET: You mean that guy that was here?
ALISA: Some thing on your mind?
Zet smiles.
ZET: Yeah.
ALISA: To tell the truth, we plan on getting married soon.
Zet stares at her and Alisa starts laughing.
ALISA: Ha ha ha ha ha!
ALISA: I'm just kidding.
ALISA: Rint is just my boy friend.
ALISA: How are you doing?
ALISA: Do you have another special some one yet?
ZET: I live and travel with a group of weirdos and on top of it, i'm a bad dude bounty hunter now.
Alisa is slightly disturbed after hearing that last sentence. Zet places the old pocket watch on the counter.
ZET: Do you remember?
Back at the new camp site, near the beach, Max is cleaning his bike and Vivi walks up to him and starts talking.
VIVI: So hand some, what are you up to?
MAX: (talking and wiping his bike with a towel at the same time) Cleaning my bike.
VIVI: (getting jealous) You sure are in love with this bike of yours'.
MAX: (talking and wiping his bike with a towel at the same time) Not quite.
MAX: (talking and wiping his bike with a towel at the same time) How ever, she's a beauty.
VIVI: (getting jealous) You pay more attention to her than you do to me?
MAX: (talking and wiping his bike with a towel at the same time) I don't know what you're yakking about.
VIVI: (yelling and feeling jealousy) OH YEAH!
MAX: (talking and wiping his bike with a towel at the same time) No need to shout.
VIVI: (yelling and feeling jealousy) YEAH THERE IS.
Max stops wiping off his bike and drops his towel. He gives a sigh of annoyance.
MAX: What is it this time Winstrate?
VIVI: (feeling jealous) What makes you think some thing is wrong?
MAX: Because when some thing is wrong with you, you either yell at me or bop me on the head.
MAX: So what's the matter?
VIVI: (feeling jealous) Very well Max.
VIVI: (feeling jealous and blushing) You spend so much time with her.
MAX: And by her, you mean my bike and so what?
VIVI: (feeling jealous and blushing) Well, i get a little jealous some times.
MAX: (laughing out loud) HA HA HA!
VIVI: (feeling thoroughly pissed off) WHAT'S SO GOT DANG FUNNY ABOUT A GIRL CONFESSING HER FEELINGS TO A BOY?
MAX: It's not that at all.
MAX: It's just that i find it very funny that you're jealous of a bike.
MAX: (laughing out loud) HA HA HA!
VIVI: Are you making fun of me?
MAX: Nah!
VIVI: Good!
MAX: In all seriousness, i'm sorry that you're jealous of my bike.
VIVI: Well in that case, i know how you can make it up to me.
MAX: How?
Vivi gets an evil smile on her face.
VIVI: (talking with an evil smile on her face) It's very simple.
VIVI: (talking with an evil smile on her face and pointing down to her feet) I order you to get down on your knees and kiss my bare feet!
MAX: (yelling out in disgust) EWW!
VIVI: (talking with an evil smile on her face) And when you're done kissing cutie, i order you to rub my feet until i say you can stop.
VIVI: (talking with an evil smile on her face) My feet hurt and i want you to comfort them.
MAX: (blushing) Vivi that's discusting.
VIVI: (talking with an evil smile on her face) I order you to obey my every whim.
MAX: (blushing) You remind me of my older sister, May.
MAX: (blushing) Me and her had a similar conversation shortly before i came here to the Kalos region.
VIVI: (talking with an evil smile on her face) And did you do what a little brother should do for her big sister, like i'm asking you to do for me?
MAX: (yelling and blushing) NO NO NO!
MAX: (blushing) First of all, i'm not your or May's foot slave, second of all, i'm certainly not bowing down to you and kissing your feet, and thirdly, i'm not touching your feet, Winstrate.
VIVI: (feeling angered) You should feel honored that i would even order you to bow down at my pretty feet, kiss them, and rub them.
MAX: (blushing) Well i'm not.
VIVI: (feeling angry) Fine!
MAX: (blushing) Ask Ellie to squeeze your feet.
VIVI: (feeling angry) No!
VIVI: (feeling angry) It's more pleasurable to have a boy for a foot slave, rather than another girl.
MAX: (blushing) You really need to do some thing about your megalomania and your flirting addiction, Winstrate.
VIVI: (yelling and feeling thoroughly pissed off) I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT MEGALOMANIA IS AND I DON'T HAVE A FLIRTING ADDICTION.
MAX: Keep telling yourself that Vivi.
MAX: What ever helps you sleep better at night, Winstrate.
VIVI: What ever.
VIVI: I'll just go some where else and massage my feet my self.
MAX: You do that.
Vivi stomps away from Max angrily while bare footed.
MAX: (yelling) WHEN YOU HAVE THE TIME, LOOK UP THE WORD MEGALOMANIA IN THE DICTIONARY.
VIVI: (yelling, feeling thoroughly pissed off, and continuing to stomp away from Max) YOU CAN KISS THE BOTTOM OF MY FEET AND PUT A SOCK IN IT ALREADY!
MAX: (yelling and waving good bye) NO THANKS.
MAX: (talking to himself) She and my maniac of a sister could probably be best friends.
Max then gets a call from Donelly on his walkie talkie cell phone radio. He answers it.
MAX: (talking on his walkie talkie cell phone radio) Hello!
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) Do you know where Zet is?
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) He won't pick up and i've tried to call him.
MAX: (talking on his walkie talkie cell phone radio) Doing some personal stuff.
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) You're his partner, right?
MAX: (talking on his walkie talkie cell phone radio) Yes!
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) I've got news on a bounty head.
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) Rint Celon is the said bounty head.
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) A thug on the port of Marvis in Ganymade.
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) Last night, he contacted financial broker Lew Rentzaw.
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) This guy was another tough customer, but he was killed.
MAX: (talking on his walkie talkie cell phone radio) What else?
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) Rint is Alisa's gigolo.
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) Meaning that he's only with her for her money and in exchange, he gives her the attention she wants.
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) I thought i'd warn you guys.
MAX: (talking on his walkie talkie cell phone radio) Oh man.
MAX: (talking on his walkie talkie cell phone radio) How much is the bounty on this guy?
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) 1800 dollars.
MAX: (talking on his walkie talkie cell phone radio) Thank you and i have to go now.
DONELLY: (talking on the other line) You're welcome and bye.
They both hang up at the same time. Max then takes off on his shiny bike to find Zet. Max calls him and it goes to voice mail.
Else where, back at Late Finn, Zet and Alisa discuss the past, while she has a stoic and impassive expression on her face.
ZET: Back then, when i had free time from school and my training, you always waited for me and that was all i needed.
ZET: Just you.
ZET: But on that night, when i came to our favorite spot in the park, only that watch was left and a small note with only 2 words on it.
ZET: "Fare well." was all she wrote.
ZET: For some reason, i didn't feel mad, sad, or glad.
ZET: It just lacked reality for me, but i eventually started to accept the fact that it was real and that you were gone.
ZET: Little by little, i felt some thing inside of me go numb.
ZET: After 6 months, i made a deal with my self.
ZET: If you didn't return by the time the watch stopped ticking, i would leave this place and start a new life.
ZET: I didn't come here to blame you.
ZET: I just want to know why you disappeared back then.
ALISA: You seem to talk like time on Ganymade had stopped.
ALISA: That's a story from long ago.
ALISA: Time never stands still.
ALISA: Life is always moving in one direction.
ALISA: Forward!
ALISA: That's just the way father time works.
ALISA: (getting up) I've got to go.
ALISA: Bye Zet.
Outside Late Finn, Rint remembers the moment he killed Lew and he spots Zet walking by. Zet gives him a good look and then walks away.
Else where, Max asks various citizens for directions to Late Finn.
Else where, Zet pedals off on his bike and inside Late Finn, Rint and Alisa talk about what their next move should be.
RINT: (getting nervous) A bad dude bounty hunter you say?
RINT: (getting nervous) Can he be?
ALISA: Rint!
RINT: (getting nervous) He's after me.
RINT: (getting nervous) I have a bounty on my head.
ALISA: It's not your fault.
ALISA: It's because i borrowed money from Lew and you protected me.
RINT: (feeling nervous) I can't be saved if i get caught.
RINT: (feeling nervous) I killed a man.
ALISA: Let's get outta here.
ALISA: Just the 2 of us.
Rint and Alisa board a defected motor boat and Max finds them. He pulls out his gun.
MAX: (talking to himself and holding his gun) This must be because i have good karma.
MAX: (talking to himself and holding his gun) Sorry, but this is just business.
Max fires 3 warning shots with his gun, at the boat and Rint gives Alisa the wheel.
BANG BANG BANG!
She turns on the boat and they start moving some what quickly. Max pedals after them. Rint fires shots at Max's shiny bike.
BANG BANG!
The boat goes under a bridge. Max pedals away at the last minute, scaling the bridge. At the same time, Zet, on his bike, pedals very close to the bridge causing him and Max to nearly collide.
ZET: (yelling and peddaling on his bike next to Max) HEY!
ZET: (talking and peddaling on his bike next to Max) What's wrong?
MAX: (talking and peddaling on his bike next to Zet) I'm after a bounty head worth 1800 dollars.
MAX: (talking and peddaling on his bike next to Zet) Rint Celon is worth 1800 dollars.
ZET: (talking and peddaling on his bike next to Max) He's a bad dude?
MAX: (talking and peddaling on his bike next to Zet) Yes!
MAX: (talking and peddaling on his bike next to Zet) I got some helpful info from Donelly.
MAX: (talking and peddaling on his bike next to Zet) He apparently killed a loan shark.
RINT: (holding his gun in his hands) Darn it.
He continues to fire shots at Max and Zet.
BANG BANG!
ZET: (talking and peddaling on his bike next to Max) I'll do this.
ZET: (talking and peddaling on his bike next to Max) You can go back.
MAX: (talking and peddaling on his bike next to Zet) You're not gonna let them go, are you?
ZET: (talking and peddaling on his bike next to Max) This is the land where i was like a cop.
ZET: (talking and peddaling on his bike next to Max) I'm the Black Poochyena and once i bite, i never let go.
ZET: (talking and peddaling on his bike next to Max) I have no regrets about her Max, but i'll settle this score on my own terms.
MAX: (talking and peddaling on his bike next to Zet) A little bit of justice and duty, huh?
MAX: (talking and peddaling on his bike next to Zet) Alright!
MAX: (talking and peddaling on his bike next to Zet) They're all yours.
Max pedals away and Zet finds the motor boat again.
ZET: (yelling and peddaling after Rint and Alisa from behind their left side) CAN YOU HEAR ME?
ZET: (yelling and peddaling after Rint and Alisa from behind their left side) STOP THE BOAT, NOW!
ALISA: (steering the boat) Zet!
Zet pedals after them through a tight watery alley with side walks and into an open area. Zet fires a shot at the boat's engine.
BANG!
The boat crashes on shore. Zet gets off his bike and approaches Alisa and Rint. She points the gun at Zet and he starts to walk toward her slowly.
ALISA: (talking and holding the gun in her hand) Stay away!
ALISA: (talking and holding the gun in her hand) Please, just let us go!
ALISA: (talking and holding the gun in her hand) There are other bounties to find.
ALISA: (talking and holding the gun in her hand) You don't need this one.
ZET: (talking and walking slowly towards her) Even if i let you and him go, some one will come for you one day.
ZET: (talking and walking slowly towards her) If you run, you'll only be an accomplice.
ALISA: (talking and holding the gun in her hand) Stay away!
She fires a shot at Zet's feet, missing him on purpose.
BANG!
He pauses for a few seconds and then starts walking slowly towards her again.
ZET: (talking and walking slowly towards her) You still have time.
ALISA: (talking and holding the gun in her hand) Stop protecting me!
She fires 3 shots all around where Zet is standing and she misses 3 times on purpose.
BANG BANG BANG!
He pauses for a few seconds again and then starts walking toward her slowly yet again.
ALISA: (talking and holding the gun in her hand) You were always like this back then too.
ALISA: (talking and holding the gun in her hand) You decided every thing and you were always right.
ALISA: (talking and holding the gun in her hand) When i was with you, i never had to do any thing for my self.
ALISA: (talking and holding the gun in her hand) All i had to do was hang on to your arm like a little sister, with no cares in the world.
ALISA: (talking and holding the gun in her hand) I wanted to live my own life and make my own decisions.
ALISA: (talking and holding the gun in her hand) Even if those decisions turned out to be awful mistakes.
Alisa drops the gun and gets on her knees. Rint tries to run away, but Zet grabs him.
RINT: (panicking) Let go of me!
RINT: (panicking) I don't wanna go to prison.
RINT: (panicking) Help me, please!
Zet punches him in the face and gets him to shut up.
ZET: You'll survive this.
ZET: Be strong and take care of her!
A little later, at night, the police arrive and arrest Rint.
ZET: Self defense seems to be how they see it.
ZET: What are you going to do now?
ALISA: I won't be going any where any more.
ALISA: I'll just wait patiently in my store for Rint to come back to me.
ZET: I don't think you'll be waiting very long.
ZET: After all, it's just like you said.
ZET: Time doesn't stand still.
Zet waves good bye and walks away while Alisa watches him go. He takes 1 last look at the old pocket watch and tosses it into the water as a symbol of his resolve over the past and to move on from it.
This was one of my best chapters of this amazing rare story. I might sound like i'm bragging, but this whole story has almost every thing in it and it's still not done yet.
