Beep beep. Beep beep. That's the sound the cruel alarm clock made on that sad day. Rain pattered the windows, no sun could be seen, and the streets were dark and cold. But, the young students had to wake up on this day to attend another day of classes. The young blonde gently got up, every step was was soft. Poor Maka didn't want to feel anymore pain, but she had to because of last night's... souvenirs.
Two days have passed, but each night was getting worst. The beatings, the screaming, the restless nights were killing her inside. Apart from that, Soul has gotten into drinking a lot of alcohol. Now home, is a dreadful hell. She doesn't want to go back home everyday, but she knows she has to... no, it's something else. D-do i... still love Soul? He saved me, but now he's causing me so much pain. He's covering me the same darkness my father brought me those woeful years. Maka thought. She began to tear up, reminding of her childhood. She had to grow up so fast... she didn't get a taste of a kid's sweet innocent life. She was brought into hell during her early years. A cold life? yes indeed. Abandonment of people she loved, but.. good thing she had people she could refuge too.
Maka slowly slid her closet doors open. Picking out her daily uniform. She got dressed and grabbed her long black cardigan. She sat on her bed as she put on her combat boots. She looked to her right and saw a picture frame that stood on her nightstand. Maka grabbed it and stared at it intensely. She smiled. I remember those days. The days that i actually looked forward to waking up to. I'm glad Soul let me at least keep this one beautiful memory. Maka hugged her frame for a minute or so until she heard a loud door bang. Well guess who"s finally come home from the bar.. Maka rolled her eyes and got up. She was about to place the frame back on her nightstand when she heard a startling growl.
"MAKA GET YOUR USELESS ASS OVER HERE AND COOK ME SOMETHING TO EAT NOW!" Maka threw the frame on the bed, grabbed her bag, and quickly dashed into the kitchen. The door was slowing closing and her room was now the only quiet place in her house because Soul started to once again do his daily beatings. Now the only bright thing was that picture frame. In it was little four year old Maka with her parents. All of them were dressed up, for what seemed like a Christmas picture. All of them were smiling. The last smile Maka saw on her parents' face.
School was as boring as ever. Just the same old things. Go to class, go through a lesson while taking notes and a review. Nothing special. Maka decided to go to the arcade after school. For some strange reason, Kid didn't want to work on the project that day. She knew that they would have to work extra hard tomorrow because Stein wanted 5 pages worth of information. Maka wondered what this crazed teacher would want with 5 pages worth of information about an animal. Maka walked for about 20 minutes until she finally made it to the local arcade. She went to her favorite machine which was The Simpsons. She inserted a quarter, the blonde chose her favorite character bart and began to play.
Maka moved the game's staff, pressing the buttons that commanded part to beat the suited men with his skate board. Maka was very focused on her screen. Time passed with each stage that she would beat. Inserting a coin each time she would die to continue her game. She kept fighting. Each stage was closer to finding Maggie, the baby that was kidnapped. Yeah! I'm almost there! I can save Maggie! Maka lost her focus and a man hit bart from behind, causing a 3rd game over. NO! Maka quickly reached into her pocket, searching for a coin.
...
No more quarters. She ran out of them. Time was up, and the screen went back to the beginning. Maka was in deep thought. What if that happened to me? I keep fighting, keep using my quarters. But.. what if i ran out? Will it be game over for me to? She clenched her fist. What if i lose the strength to keep fighting? To keep moving forward... her thoughts were interrupted when a person tapped her shoulder.
"Hey are you done?" a guy with red head said holding up a quarter.
"a-ah i'm sorry.." Maka said moving away from the machine.
"Haha. Don't freak beautiful. I'm Raphael. I'm guessing you're new." he smiled at her. Maka did admit, he was good looking. Straight red hair that shined with any light that reflected on it. Maka gave a small smile and placed her hand out to shake.
"I'm Maka. Nice to meet you." Raphael gently grabbed her hand and shook it. Then letting go.
"The pleasure is all mine. Do you wanna play the game with me. We could work together and get pretty far." He grinned while he placed both arms behind his head.
"Sure... wait i don't got any quarters." Maka said sadly.
"Don't worry. The game is on me! Let's start?" he asked as he placed two quarters in the two different slots.
"Okay!"
"you finally decided to show up Black*Star" kid sighed. He desperately wanted Black*Star to tell him more about Maka. He didn't even come at a symmetrical time! He went to Lilac Cemetery right after class. He been waiting at the gate since then.
"Sorry, i had to shake off Tsubaki. She didn't want me telling you about Maka's father and mother. It's a really personal topic.. and it gets really dark as well." Kid was surprised. He could tell that Black*Star was really serious about this. Which was a rare occasion.
"Oh okay.. i understand. so are we gonna stand here or is there a place you wanna take me?" Kid asked and Black*Star simply nodded.
"Follow me." Both guys walked a fair distance until the blue haired one halted. He turned to his right and looked down on a grave. It was covered with leaves that had fallen from the tree above it. Black*Star swept the leaves off the grave. The words that were written in were warn out and hard to read. But it's still legible. Black*Star slowly whispered the name.
"Kami Albarn"
