Devin's laugh filled the expanse of dry land, the look on that boy's face! He really thought he was gonna avenge that girl's death! What an idiot!

"Good shot!" Alle-Faye smirked as she picked the arrow out of the corpse and joined her companions, Devin grinned proudly at her kill.

"How many left?" Darren asked, the smile from his kill fading into his game face. Alle started counting the remaining tributes on her fingers, Devin stared over impatiently until finally letting out a gasp of frustration.

"7" Devin told them, rolling her eyes. "There's us three, those two little boys, the boy from 5 and the girl from 6." Alle- Faye stared up at her wondering how on earth she managed to keep track.

"So where do you think they'll be." Alle asked.

"Well the boy from 5 ran into the woods after he killed Jaime...but I have no idea if he's there now. I doubt any of them have gone into the water as the only people who knew how to swim are dead." Darren reasoned. Alle looked around, trying to cross of the areas of where they'd be.

"If they were in the caves then they would've been flushed out by that wave of water." She thought out-loud "If they were in the forest then we probably would've seen them. They won't be in the water, like you said...so that just leaves the mountains and the desert." They all looked at each of the areas, sizing them up. They were silent for a while, each deep in their own thoughts, until Darren took in a deep breath and looked at the other two.

"Well as we're here..." He said, guesturing towards the rest of the desert area. They followed his intruction and walked toward an oasis which was the only cover in the vast expanse of land that lay before them. The edge of the area had scatterings of rocks which could over some initial cover, but as the meadow slipped away into the desert there was nothing apart from the oasis right in the middle. It was a good size, you could easily make camp there and have plenty of room to run and hide. Although it took some time to get there whilst being in plain view, there had definitely opportunity to get there. Most of the tributes had found an area and stuck to it as to not get caught in the meadow which, apart from the cornucopia, didn't offer any cover either.

The Careers made their way to the oasis, Devin leading the way and Darren covering them in case anyone did decide to leave their area. When they got close they slowed their pace and quietly made there way into the trees. It was bigger than it seemed and there was a strange draft that whistled through the trees making it impossible to track anyone. Darren surveyed the area, trying to find some sign of life but to no avail.

"We'll have to split up guys." Darren said, pointed out the way he was gonna go and then left the girls to sort themselves out. Devin glanced at Alle and then chose her path. Alle looked around a bit more before heading her own way.

Devin trudged through the oasis which seemed to become a swamp more and more with each step. It was getting harder for her to walk, but she was comforted slightly by the sign of water. She swerved left marginally to try to get out of the swamp that was eating her feet, before long she would get stuck and that wasn't exactly a good state to be in. It took her quite a while to pull her feet out of the mud and get on to solid ground, it was further away than she's thought, but she got there. She was just getting her breath back and wiping her hands clean when she heard a shout coming from further left. There seemed to be quite a confrontation going on, Darren had gone way further on the right so Alle must have found one of the tributes. Devin ran over to where the noise was coming from, just before she got there she heard a final swish of Alle's blade cutting through flesh an knew the fight was over. She ran on, regardless.

When she got there she saw the small body of the girl from 6 lying on the ground and her head lying a few feet away from it. Alle was covered in blood some of which was her own, the girl obviously didn't go quietly. Alle turned and smiled at Devin.

"Well done." Devin nodded.

"Thanks. I think she was the only one in here, lets go get Darren and find the others." Alle smiled. Devin counted up how many of them were left and the abilities of each of them. It didn't look good. The people left didn't seem to be much of a challenge for them which wasn't good news as that would mean it'd come down to the three of them against each other and whilst she knew she was good, if it came to be two against one their sheer power would be able to overtake her. Darren was far away by now. Probably didn't even hear the fight that went on. As Alle had turned back to admire her kill Devin lifted up her bow and arrow and shot Alle in the head.

Darren treaded lightly across the ground of the oasis, carefully searching for signs of life. The breeze seemed to have stopped so it was easier to see movement, although there didn't seem to be any. All of a sudden the leaves behind him started shaking slightly, he quickly turned and raised his spear ready to attack. There was a moment of calm, the movement ceased. Then the person jumped out of the bushes and Darren was about to throw his spear into their face when he stopped and froze for a moment.

"Careful waving your wood around, Dare, you'll poke someone's eye out." They smirked, it was Devin, Darren lowered his weapon and breathed a sigh of relief.

"Where's Alle?" He asked, Devin faltered but only for a second.

"She found the district 6 girl and she must've got the element of surprise on her because she killed her, but don't worry, I avenged our Alle." Devin lied.

"Well at least you got that bitch back" Darren frowned, anger sprawling through him. "Let's go find those other bastards!" He turned and marched out of the oasis, Devin falling in step behind him, smiling to herself.
