With a not so subtle nudge from Arizona, Mark made his leave from the room and Arizona and Callie awkwardly watched each other from across the room. Neither of them willing themselves to speak or make any movements.
Arizona's head was spinning; she was tired and still partially asleep, she certainly wasn't expecting anything that had happened lately and this was just the icing on the cake, being woken up by Mark talking about them having a child and her crush being in the hospital, only to find out that not only was Callie in the hospital, she was in the room for their whole conversation.
Callie didn't even know what she was feeling. She was seconds away from sleep, her eyelids fighting a losing battle against gravity and drowsiness; she was relieved that she was once again in the presence of her adorable little daughter and Arizona, rather than Ellis Grey, she was elated that she now seemed to have some alone time with them and, at the same time, it felt like her heart plummeted through her stomach when she heard the rather good looking man (who was in bed with Arizona at the time) refer to her as his "Baby Mama".
She felt tears well up in her eyes when she thought that all these feelings she had been experiencing in regards to the breathtaking blonde could be for naught if she was otherwise involved. Arizona had kissed her though, that had to mean something, right? She wanted to play it off like it was nothing but her insecurities were getting the best of her, not only was she treading unfamiliar territory, but she was beyond exhausted. There wasn't really any other way to put it, Callie simply wasn't ready. For anything, really.

They weren't getting anywhere. Nothing was being said, neither of them was moving, and it was finally getting on Arizona's nerves. With a huff she picked herself and the tiny human up and made her way across the on-call room in a few quick strides and laid down next to Callie, taking a tanned arm and wrapping it around her midsection, just below the sleeping infant. This they could do, it was physical comfort, it didn't involve talking, or thinking, or sharing emotions; it was just them, just cuddling, just a nap shared between two tired people.
Callie smirked, of course there was limited space on the on-call room bed, but Arizona had resituated her little Kelsie back on top of her chest, the little girl nuzzling back in with a sigh as remained sleeping and Arizona had closed her eyes looking like she also planned on sleeping, or returning to sleep.
"Here I was, thinking you were going to give me my kid back." She said quietly, although the amusement in her voice could still clearly be heard.
Arizona simply offered a "Hmm." in reply and wiggled closer. Callie just softly chuckled while shaking her head. 'Might as well enjoy it'' she thought as she scooted down and wiggled against the bed willing it to be more comfortable. A grin spread across her face and she moved her head around the pillow, adjusting more often than necessary as she slowly closed the distance between her head and the doctor's shoulder. 'Ahh, that is so much more comfortable.'
"I can assure you that wasn't as subtle as you thought it was, Calliope." Arizona spoke with her eyes remaining closed, proud smile stretched across her face. Callie's head shot up to look at her in disbelief.
"Wha- How - I-"
Now Arizona's dimples were out in full force as she forced her upper half off the bed to give Callie a quick peck on the lips and a wink before she was down once again with her eyes closed and ready for sleep, smile still in place.
"Shhhhh, sleep."
Callie simply shook her head and snuggled back in and Arizona willed her heart to slow down, wondering where that had come from, she certainly hadn't planned to just kiss Callie like that. 'Oh well,' they both ended up thinking, 'I'm too tired to sort this out now.'

"I'm telling you, she was RIGHT there."
"Oh shut up, Mark. If that really happened," Teddy held up her fist as she got ready to make her points "One: she would told me first." She waved two fingers in front of his face for emphasis "Two: Arizona has always been quite clear on the kid thing, ie. NO"
"Three: She's also always been clear about how she feels about you and her and, I quote, 'Never, ever, ever, ever, EVER, being naked together. Or even seeing each other naked.'"
"Four: commitment is about as much of her thing as it is yours. I highly doubt that she agreed to have a child with you and then asked Callie to be her girlfriend."
Mark opened his mouth to speak but Teddy simply lifted her hand to stop him.
"FIVE: All of those obvious logical flaws aside, what would your girlfriend say to you trying to have a child with one of your best friends while she isn't even around and you two are on some ridiculous break?! I mean really, Mark! C'mon!"
He held up his hands and dropped his head in defeat. "Okay, fine, so some of that wasn't true. BUT Callie was there, and she did overhear our conversation, and neither of them has left that room. Fact."
"And!" His finger raised in the air in childlike pride "That was…" He looked down to his watch "Like 2 hours ago."
An eyebrow rose as Teddy's eyes drifted over to the nearest clock.
"Mark...I brought Callie to the on-call room at least 3 hou–"
"But I haven't seen –"
In a flash the two surgeons were racing down the halls like a couple of kids in a race to get to the on-call room first; there was no commodity quite like gossip at SGMW.

As Arizona awoke and instinctively stretched out her achy limbs she heard a groan and soft mumbling beside her and smiled. This wasn't so bad, she could get used to having the tiny human and gorgeous Latina around more often. She smiled thinking about spending time with Kelsie and Callie, she still wasn't looking to jump into a relationship but she certainly didn't want to be far away from either of the girls cuddled into her either.
Callie sighed contentedly as her eyes fluttered open to a perfect view of Arizona's clothed breasts with her daughter snuggled right in between. 'Well, if Kelsie's not the slightest bit ashamed, then why should I be, right?'
The thundering of fists against the on-call room door startled all three of the girls and Arizona got up to see what was happening while straightening her clothes.
As the door swung open she slid her sock covered feet back across the floor as Karev and Yang almost fell through the threshold looking slightly crazy and out of breath.
"Robbins! You have to let –"
"Roller Girl! Cardio is MY thing –"
"He doesn't even –" "It's a PEDS –"
"Whoa, whoa, whoooa. Guys!" She held her hands up to stop them as she tried to figure out what was going on. "What are you even talking about?" She shook her head and rubbed her eyes, willing herself to clear her head and get it together.
"Mangled munchkin in the ER."
Karev snorted at Yang's description before straightening up, knowing how his boss felt about the tiny humans.
"There was a 15 year old in a pretty bad accident at an apartment building, all sorts of broken bones and internal injuries. Kid watched a bunch of stupid youtube videos and went down a bunch of flights of stairs while duct taped to a skateboard."
"On the bright side, it would have been easy to get him into the ambulance, kid was already on a board." Christina shrugged as 3 sets of incredulous stares landed on her.
Arizona simply shook her head again as she felt another headache coming on and reached for her pager.
"Okay. We'll probably need both of you. Why wasn't I paged?"
"Dude, it's like 5 o'clock. You aren't even supposed to be here." Alex called over his shoulder as he and Yang raced down to the ER with the news that they were both going to be in on the surgery. Even if Robbins wasn't technically working, she was still the boss so if she said they could then that's what they were going with, they weren't going to miss out on this surgery.
Callie had gotten herself and Kelsie up while Arizona remained standing in the doorway half out of it, wondering what was even happening. The clearing of Callie's throat caught her attention and she turned back around to see Callie standing somewhat awkwardly with Kelsie in her arms; neither of them really knew what to do now.
"So, uhm…"
"So…"
The laughed and each ended up gesturing for the other to go first before Callie finally swallowed her fear and uncertainty and decided to speak up.
"So...uh, uhm...if - if, if you want to...that is, if you'd like to...maybe –"
"ARIZONA?!"
Callie watched as Arizona's eyes widened and her body turned just in time for the lean legs of the beautiful brunette charging their way to jump up and wrap them around Arizona's hips with enough force to send them stumbling backwards onto the on-call room bed. Callie wasn't even sure how to describe what she was feeling now; she had never felt anything quite like this before, but as she watched this obviously good looking woman straddle the doctor right in front of her, both of them obviously forgetting where they were or that they had company, it felt like something was pulling on her heart, constricting with every beat.
She didn't want to deal with these emotions. Arizona wasn't hers, they had never made any commitments, they hadn't even been in each other's lives for very long...but she felt like the blonde liked her, and as much as she wanted to deny it, she knew that she liked the doctor. So who was this woman? Coming in and straddling the woman that she was supposed to be getting to spend time with? This wasn't fair, this wasn't right.
She swallowed thickly and was just going to go before she saw something she really didn't want to see, but as luck would have it, as soon as she turned on her heel to leave she ran straight into Dr.'s Sloan and Altman, who were staring wide-eyed and slack-jawed at the scene before them, which of course led Callie to turn back to see the two women in a warm embrace.
So, what's up? The (hopefully) triumphant return! Feedback is more than welcome, I know it's been a while.
