A/N: I really am sorry that I had to put this on hold but I finally managed to wriggle out enough words for a chapter. I hope you guys can forgive me
m(_ _)m
I do not own Hetalia.
I decided to stay a bit longer, just to collect my thoughts, That girl... she reminds me of Eliza. That's what bothers me the most.
And what did she mean by 'thank you'? I'm so confused.
"Oh! Prince Gilbert? Is that you?" I heard someone call. When I looked up I saw that it was Princess Felinciana. I quickly stood up and bowed. "Yes princess? Is there something you need?" I asked as I sat back down. She looked troubled I have to say. For a while she didn't say anything and fidgeted with her dress.
"Have you seen Liza?!" She finally blurted out. A giant question mark formed above my head. "Who's 'Liza'?" I asked her. Was she like Felinciana's pet? A close friend at the party? Another noble to do business with?
Princess Felinciana didn't say anything didn't say anything and fidgeted some more.
"I can't help you if you don't tell me who she is." I told her. She looked up at me surprised, then took a deep breath. "Liza is a... friend of mine. A really close friend. She came here tonight. I saw her earlier, but now I can't find her. There was something I really wanted to talk to her about." Because she looked really sad I gave her a pat on her head.
"If it makes ya feel any better, I'll help you look for her. Okay? So don't cry, got it? You're in the presence of the awesome me! There's nothing to be sad about."
She looked up at me and smiled gratefully. While leading me back into the ballroom, Princess Felinciana described Liza to me. Apparently, she has green eyes, long brown hair, and is "very pretty tonight ve~." I've seen a lot of girls with long, brown hair but the only girl I've really seen with green eyes was that girl from before. "What kind of dress is she wearing?" I asked Felinciana, trying to narrow down the options. "Oh! Liza has on such a pretty green dress! She looked soooooo beautiful when she had it on!"
Wait... I stopped walking and turned around to face Felinciana. "I think I might have seen her. I don't know where she went though." Her eyes lit up. "So you have seen Liza! Looking for her now should be easier! Hurry up, let's go!" She grabbed my arm and practically dragged me around the palace.
"Keep an eye out for her in the back. I'll look for her in the front!" She told me. "Y-yeah." I answered lamely. Who knew this girl had so much strength?
I promised I would help her look, and the awesome me does not break any promises. As I was looking around, Felinciana abruptly stopped and-guess what? She dropped me.
"LIZA! LIZA! LIZA! We found you! Where'd you go?" I could hear her half-saying, half-yelling.
Unfortunately for me, I was seeing stars... And I was left on the floor... "What do you mean by 'we' Princess?" I heard a female voice ask. It was most likely this 'Liza' Felinciana was looking for. For some reason, it sounded familiar though. I couldn't put my finger on who it was though. So much for memory.
"Gilbert? Is that you? What are you doing on the floor like that?" I heard a familiar, pansy voice ask. "Is that Roderich I hear?" I asked, sitting up and rubbing the back of my head.
"Well you heard right. You haven't changed much Gilbert." I looked up to find Princess Felinciana, the girl from before, and my good-for-nothing cousin, Roderich, looking down at me. "How's the weather up there?" I asked them. Roderich sighed. "Of course you haven't changed/ You'll always be the same Gilbert." He fixed his glasses. "What's that supposed to mean?!" I asked him angrily. He ignored me and bowed to Princess Felinciana.
"How are you princess? I hope you're enjoying yourself. I am Prince Roderich of Vienna." The princess curtsied in response.
"You two sound close to each other." She said to us. "Are you two close friends?" Roderich and I looked at each other. "As much as it pains me to say it, Gilbert and I are cousins. Were it not for that we would most likely be acquaintances." Roderich answered.
'Acquaintances?' We would probably be ignoring each other. Roderich and I never got along. When we were younger I always teased him for staying inside and playing the piano. I mean, how's playing a piano supposed to help you run a kingdom?
"Eh? Really? That's too bad. Oh! Were you keeping Liza company? Did I interrupt an important conversation? Sorella is always telling me to remember my duties." Felinciana began to worry, remembering the roles of royalty. After all, the kingdom comes first.
"Oh no, nothing of the sort. We were simply talking." Roderich reassured her. "She's quite pleasant to be around." Breathing a sigh of relief, Felinciana turned to me. "You haven't formally met Liza, have you?" I shook my head and she smiled, bringing 'Liza' closer.
"Gilbert, this is Liza. Liza, this is Prince Gilbert." She then left us to introduce ourselves. I bowed first and smirked. "Nice to meet you. I'm the awesome Gilbert Beilschmidt, first-borne and heir to the throne of Berlin. Now will you finally tell me who you are? 'Liza?'" I bowed again and she curtsied.
"Fine. I'm Liza Héderváry. A... friend and acquaintance of Princess Felinciana." She curtsied once again.
Liza? That can't be her name, can it? It sounds too much of a nickname. But parents can name their children however they want to. I can't criticize them. After all, mein awesome vatar named me and Ludwig!
"Don't be like that Liza! You're more than just an 'acquaintance,' you're the best friend sorella and I have!" Felinciana hugged a gentle smile, Liza hugged her back. "Speaking of Princess Lovina, do you know where she went?" She asked the princess. Felinciana shook her head. "I haven't seen sorella since she went to talk to onno."
"She went to the patio earlier and talked to me about what I told her but she went back inside shortly after." I told Liza. She nodded in my direction and turned back to Felinciana. "Will you help me look for your sister?: She asked her. "Sure!" The princess replied bouncily. Turning and curtsying to Roderich and me, she said, "Please enjoy the rest of the night. If you have any questions please feel free to ask the servants, myself, or the king. Bye!~" With that, she practically skipped off with Liza.
I glanced at Roderich for a second before walking off somewhere. Like hell I'm gonna stay and 'talk' to that pansy.
"Liza. I have a question." Felinciana asked as she walked next to me. "What is it, your highness?" I stopped and asked her. Looking me in the eyes she said, "Why did you lie about your name? Not just to Prince Roderich but to Price Gilbert as well. Is that what you've been doing for the entire ball?" Sighing slightly I motioned for her to follow me out to the gardens. It was dark so most guests were inside enjoying themselves. It would be easier to talk about that out there.
"Well Liza?" Feli asked again once I stopped walking. "I'm one of the staff in this castle Feli. I shouldn't even be here at the ball like this. If it were to clearly state that I'm a servant, then your reputation would drop. I really love you all so I couldn't do that to you." I tried saying.
Feli smiled at me and said, "I've known you long enough to know when you're lying Liza, even if it's as easy as breathing to you. Can you tell me the real reason?"
I sighed in defeat. "I just can't win when it comes to you and your sister, can I?" Looking up at the moon I told her about how I actually first met Gil when we were kids. "Strange." I told her. "We met at your birthday party and now, after ten years, I see him again at your birthday party." I laughed.
"That means it's fate!" Feli grasped my hands and looked up at me with stars in her eyes. "Umm... what?" Was the only thing that came out of my mouth as I looked at her."What do you mean by 'fate?'"
"Isn't it obvious? You and Gilbert need to be together! It's fate that after ten years you see each other again!" She twirled around the garden happily.
"I can't be with him because of our social ranks. You know that Feli." I told her quietly in case anyone was around. She stopped and thought about something.
"Then we'll just change that status of yours!" She declared.
... "What?" At that moment I could care less about anyone who heard and cared more about if Feli was feeling ok.
"Did you drink any wine? Are you drunk Feli?" I put my hand to her forehead to check if she had gotten sick and had a fever. She nearly slapped my hand away. "I'm serious Liza! You've done great as a servant in this castle. You should have your own status now. I'm gonna talk to Papà about it!" With those parting words she ran inside, I could only stare at her fleeting figure.
What's going to happen now?
