Ah they are aren't they? Well let us see, shall we?
The strange pair arrived at the run down, but homely, guild and made their way inside, welcomed by the warm buzzing of their comrades' talk and gossip. Mizuru stayed behind near the entrance while Natsu made his way to the bar where the raven-haired ice mage was sitting. She smiled as she watched the pink-haired slayer's awkward advances as Gray sat there with a shocked and dumbfounded look on his face. As Natsu's apparent confession finally sunk in, Gray leapt to his feet and placed his hands on Natsu's cheeks, pulling the Dragon Slayer's lips to his own. Natsu's face matched his hair when Gray finally pulled away and Mirajane simply smiled and congratulated the two mages as Cana handed her a wad of money.
Mizuru gave a soft chuckle as she watched the rest of the guild go about their business and a small ache made its way into her heart. "You're planning on leaving soon aren't you?"
Mizuru gave a startled gasp but relaxed when she saw the small, re-established guild master standing next to her. She gave a small smile. "Yeah, I still have things I need to do and I-"
"Can't accomplish them here. I understand." Makarov turned away from the young ice mage. "When?"
"Today if possible."
Makarov turned back to Mizuru with a shocked look on his face. "So soon?"
Mizuru sighed and nodded. "I would rather not make a huge commotion when I leave." She turned to the guild master with a sad look in her eyes. "I don't know how long I will be gone so I'm sure it will be better if I left Fairy Tail indefinitely."
Makarov sighed. "You seem set on doing this so there really is no other choice…"
"Huh?"
Before Mizuru could protest, Makarov had jumped on a nearby table and let out a loud shout. "ATTENTION EVERYONE!"
When everyone had whipped around he motioned to Mizuru who was standing beside of him. She tried protesting again but gave up once he cut her off. "One of our comrades will be leaving us today." A chorus of surprised gasps rang through the building and every shocked look was at due attention. "Though Mizuru was only with us for a short time it by no means makes her less family. She is a part of us and we are all extremely sad to see her leave. However, we all know the three rules one must follow when they leave the guild."
He turns to the now teary-eyed mage with a stern look that was betrayed by the sad glint in his eyes. "One, you must never reveal sensitive information about Fairy Tail to others for as long as you live. Two, you must never use former clients met while being in the guild for personal gain. And three…"
The entire guild's voices echoed around her as the third rule was voiced. "Though our paths may have diverged, you must continue to live out your life with all your might. You must never consider your own life to be something insignificant, and you must never forget about your friends for as long as you live!"
Tears trailed down Mizuru's face as she looked out into the sea of smiling and crying faces and voices that were wishing her well. She spotted Natsu with Gray's arm wrapped around his shoulder, the pair with sad and grateful smiles on their face. Natsu waved and mouthed the words, "We will definitely meet again, okay?"
Mizuru nodded and waved as she made her way out of the guild. As she closed the door, Makarov's voice rang out behind her. "Never forget that Fairy Tail will always be your home so if you ever need us or you want to come home, we will always be here!"
The young ice mage cried as she walked away once more from her family and home.
~~one year later~~
Mizuru tightened her scarf around her neck as snow danced around her, contrasting against her blue hair when it landed before melting away. She was dressed warmly for the snowy village in a green long-sleeved shirt under a brown coat and tightly worn pants tucked into black boots. Despite this and being an ice mage, she hurriedly looked for an open building to seek warmth in. Her wishes were granted when she spotted a small café across the street. Mizuru practically ran towards it and escaped inside. She breathed onto her hands in order to get feeling back into them as she slid into a nearby booth. Her waitress greeted her with a homely smile. She was middle-aged with soft honey-colored hair with matching eyes and had a motherly aura about her. "Welcome hun', you certainly look like you need something to warm you up. How about some of our specialty hot chocolate? On the house."
Mizuru smiled gratefully. "That would be wonderful, thank you."
"Of course hun'. It'll be right out." The waitress left toward the kitchen and Mizuru sighed as she played with napkin on the table, her head propped on a free hand. She glanced out at the town outside, more-so at the mountains in the background. The mountains that were once the home of her birth village before it was destroyed. She didn't know what made her come back, but after leaving Fairy Tail and traveling for a few months she decided to make her way back home. She postponed it for a while, still hesitant about returning but a month ago forced herself to make her way up here. Maybe she was lonely or homesick, or even both, but whatever it was, she had a feeling she made the right choice.
From this village it was now only a day's walk but the oncoming clouds threatened heavier snow or even a blizzard. Mizuru didn't feel like being stuck in a snow storm and hoped there was at least somewhere nearby where she could stay to wait it out if it got worse. She continued to stare out of the window as she heard the clink of a glass being set down in front of her. "Do you happen to know when this snow will let up?" Mizuru asked.
"Hm, I don't really know. Though, you know, honestly, I love snow at this time of year. I think it makes things seem, I don't know, magical."
Mizuru's eyes grew wide as the deeper, familiar voice sent a shiver down her spine. She slowly turned to see the smiling face framed with messy raven hair that lightly brushed his chin that she always had the urge to fix or run her fingers through. Her silver eyes welled up with tears as she met his icy blue that always seemed to know everything and had a calming effect when she got lost in them. His gentle lips parted in a grin. "Don't you think so…Mizu-chan?"
Tears ran down her cheeks as she tried to form words past the tightening in her throat. She was finally able to respond by giving a small nod and smiling. "Y-yeah, I think so too…"
