Chapter: 4
*Bruce's P.O.V.*
I flew the Batwing down Gotham until I got to my mansion. I could see metal doors blocking all of my windows and I knew that Alfred put the house on lockdown which is a good thing.
I flew through the back entrance, behind a waterfall, and then parked the Batwing inside. Selena and I jumped out, and walked down the metal grates that made up the floor.
I turned on my computer as Alfred arrived on the elevator, he looked worried.
"Plants are growing all around the city, Mr. Wayne," Alfred says, placing soup on a nearby desk. "It's all over the Gotham News, but then they went out while they were attacked."
"It's Pam," I mutter. "Edward and Harvey tricked her into being a bad guy, and now she's helping them with whatever they're planning."
"I tried to keep some plants out of the Batcave," Alfred begins. "But some of them already grew inside while the metal doors closed them in."
"It's fine Alfred," I say. "The metal doors must've killed them while they closed on them."
"So what's the plan?" Selena pulls off her cat mask and throws it over to the desk where the soup was. "There has to be something we can do."
"We have to figure out where Pam is hiding," I say. "But that might take a while to figure out."
"Mr. Wayne," Alfred begins, looking uncertain. "Selena and I discussed that you need all the help you can get-"
I look over at a smirking Selena, I can't believe they had a discussion about me.
"No Alfred!" I snap. "Not you, you need to stay here! I can't let you get hurt, you're the only family I have left!"
"Not me sir," Alfred says. "But I found someone who can help you, an orphan."
"An orphan?" I say. "What's that going to do? That'll be someone else I have to babysit, it's bad enough I have to babysit her in battle!"
"Whatever Bruce," Selena sighs. "All great heroes need all the help they can get."
The elevator opens up, a dirty blonde young man walks through the doors, he's lean with blue eyes, and he looks like he could be no older than nineteen.
"Who are you?" I ask.
"Dick Grayson," He says. "But you can call me Robin."
"Ugh," I grunt.
Now I have to take care of this one.
"I want to help you," He says. "Because Two-Face killed my family."
"So you just want revenge?" I assure. "Getting revenge won't relieve the stress you feel about your situation. Trust me."
"Bruce," Selena smiles. "He wants to help, the least you can do is give him a chance. It's three against three now, we can take them all."
"Fine," I say, getting up from the chair. "You better know how to fight."
He nods his head. "I have a black belt in Karate, Aikido, and Kung Fu."
I walk away from the situation, we needed to prepare to help Gotham City.
*Selena's P.O.V.*
"Don't mind him," I tell Robin, as we walk down the halls of Wayne manor. "Bruce is used to isolation, because of all the people he lost. I go through the same thing with him all the time when we fight."
"I know I can prove myself," Robin says. "Because I need to get back at Two-Face."
We walk past a Christmas tree, with only three presents underneath it. We walk over and sit down by the lit chimney, staring at the fire until we pull our eyes away.
"Is this really a life you want to pursue?" I ask.
Robin nods his head. "It doesn't change me, I lost my family just like Bruce did."
I wrap my arm around his lean figure, and we stare at the fire again until I feel prickles of leaves falling on top of me.
A leaf runs down my arm, and I pick it up and look at it.
"The tree is shedding . . ." Robin looks at the leaf with confusion.
I look back up at the Christmas tree only to realize that it grew a hundred feet taller into the air.
"BRUCE!" A branch grows out from the side and crashes into my body, sending me back into a wall, causing my back to crack and my leg to twist as I fell onto the floor.
"Selena!" Robin runs towards me, while dodging branches and jumping over the furniture. He leans down to my side, and tries to pick me up, but I push him away.
"Get Bruce!" I demand.
"But what about you?" He asks, looking scared and hopeless.
"No!" I scream. "If you want this life you have to abandon people to get help! Now get Bruce!"
Robin looks hesitant, but then he runs down the hallway, further and further away from me.
The Christmas tree spins into life, until it's able to walk towards me, as it plants more seedlings into the ground, they grow within seconds into fledglings, and start ripping the house apart.
I try to crawl, but a branch wraps around my waist, and carries me through the air. It throws me against the walls and ceilings until I can't take anymore of the abuse.
My body crashes into the floor, and I can barely move, with blood seeping from my mouth.
Bruce runs into the room, shooting the trees and fighting off branches. Robin was doing the same thing, kicking the fledglings until they snapped in half.
I couldn't focus anymore.
I felt another branch warp around my body until it was squeezing the life out of me.
