Chapter Eighteen: Reunion

Stiles couldn't see, nor feel anything. All he could register, were the dim, and dull voices of those around him, his ears ringing with a screeching sound, drowning out all noises around him. He could feel himself being pulled, but his body wouldn't comply, staying still and feeling like it gained an extra hundred pounds. He stood staring at the charred remains of Ethan's corpse, and the spot where his mother once lay, now gone; dissipated into thin air.

"Stiles, come on we have to go, now!" a voice said, muffled by the ringing sound in his ears. The voice tugged at him, and pulled but he couldn't muster the strength to get up. "Scott, come help me! Jackson, get everyone to Deaton's!"

Stiles just wanted the voices to go away, he wanted the forest to go away, he himself wanted to go away, back with his mother, back with his family. He felt himself being lifted up from the ground and hoisted onto a pair of broad shoulders. He lost track of what was happening, of what had happened before his mother sacrificed herself to save him and his pack. He knew she was going to go back to the spirit realm whether she sacrificed herself or not, but he wish he could have her for a bit longer.

"Mom.." he whispered, the first words to come out of his mouth. His breath was hitched, and his throat was dry; his bones aching from the fight. The blood moon was at it's peak, the crimson sphere shining the night with an abysmal array. His vision was blurred, but he could make out the ground moving at an inhuman speed, probably due to Derek's enhanced speed.

Stiles could vaguely make out the conversation that was going on around him, the voices dull and fuzzy. He wondered if Cora was safe and sound, and if everyone else was alright. He felt himself being set down on something soft, with a light probing his already fuzzy vision.

"He's traumatized." said a voice. The body to whom the voice belonged to moved over to the other side of his body, shining the light and passing their gentle hands on his numbed body. "He's in some intense shock, probably from seeing his mother sacrifice herself.. also it could be from the power that emanated from within her aura. He'll be fine, but he needs to rest right now, and he needs lot's of water."

"Poor Stiles.." said another voice, Erica? She walked over to his side and grabbed one of his hands and held it in hers, "You're gonna be okay.. Everything's gonna be fine."

He wanted to reach out to her, grasp her hand, but his body was so weak, he couldn't even speak. She planted a kiss on his hand, and rubbed his palm in soft, soothing circles. Stiles wanted so bad to be able to talk, walk, and see if everyone else was alright. He could smell the blood in the room, the scent of the metallic substance burning his nostrils.

"Deaton, can't we take some of his pain away?" asked another voice, Isaac maybe?

"No, I'm afraid not." answered another female, definitely Morrell, "You see, since he's not human, nor werewolf, but of pure magic, the pain would be too much for a werewolf to handle, even an Alpha. You could slip into a coma, and die."

"But he can heal like a werewolf right?" asked another voice, was it Jackson?

"Something like that. When a Magi or Witch is weak, they go to something called the Mana Realm, which is a dream-like paradise that replenishes their Aura and magical abilities, but it takes a bit longer than a werewolf would to heal." replied Deaton.

"But he'll be fine though?" questioned a gruff voice. This voice sounded sad, and it broke Stiles' heart in ways he couldn't explain. He knew it had to be Derek's voice.

"He'll be fine, I have to tend to Cora now, I'll be back shortly." Deaton replied, as Stiles heard his footsteps fade away.

"Poor Stiles.." said Erica, "It must be terrible to watch his Mom leave like that again.. I hope he's okay."

He heard the others give a soft whimper in agreement as they all dispersed into another room, leaving him alone to rest in silence and in peace. Stiles could feel the aura draining in his veins, and he knew where he was going next, to his Mana Area. He'd at least see his mom again, where she could explain to him a way they could bring someone back for good, and maybe he could bring her back. He felt his eyes get heavier, his vision getting darker, before he was swept away to his paradise, with his mother awaiting him.

Deaton had just finished working on Stiles, and walked into the other room where Cora was held. She was sitting down on a patient bed, and rubbed her arm where a deep gash was starting to heal itself. She'd heard rumors of Derek having a pack, a rumor that spoke of one of the Hales surviving the fire and leading a pack of his own. She'd waited on what felt like centuries to hear something like that, so she came back searching for her family member.

"How are you feeling Ms. Hale?" Deaton asked, checking her vitals. He was astonished to hear that another of the Hale's survived the fire beside Derek and Laura, and he was happy that they could save her in time.

"Cora, just Cora." she smiled, "I'm fine, I just need time to heal.. thank you."

"It's my job." Deaton smiled before turning to leave the room. He was stopped abruptly by a hand on his shoulder.

"No.. I mean thank you.. for taking care of our family when we were younger, before the fire. But most of all, thank you for watching after Derek.. thanks for keeping your promise to my mother." Cora said.

"Like I said, it's my job. Talia was a wonderful woman, and taking care of your family was something I enjoyed doing. No need to thank me." he smiled, and Derek took his place into the room.

"C-Cora.." he said softly, "It's really you.."

"It's me Derek, it's me." Cora replied, running to hug her older brother tightly. "My god Derek, I thought you were dead this entire time."

"H-How did you survive? Where have you been this past six years?" Derek asked, setting her down onto the patient bed.

"During the fire, I was trapped in my bedroom.. Dad tried to save me.. he burst through the room door and picked me up. All I remember was the heat, the smoke, the screams.." she stopped, wiping a tear from her eye, "Dad rushed us all to the basement, since the walls were made of stone, he thought we'd be safe and that the fire wouldn't penetrate the walls. He tried breaking that barred window that he used to keep animals out, and he managed to squeeze me through, and I hid from the hunters that were watching the house burn.

"Uncle Peter came out next, and Dad looked through the window and started telling Peter to protect me, to always protect me. The carbon monoxide in the smoke is what killed them Derek, not the fire. The Carbon Monoxide and the Wolfsbane burning from the fire. I stood with Josh for a while, seeing as you know, he was your favorite cousin and all, and when he told me that you and Laura were in New York, I went looking for you guys.

"When I got there, you're rude ass landlord told me you both came back to Beacon Hills and I've been searching for you ever since. When I got here I heard about the Kanima, and I was looking to help you out but Elena caught me in the woods and kept me captive." she finished.

"Cora I'm so sorry.." Derek replied, "If I'd have known you were alive I would've come for you. I would've found you and we would've left all this behind." Derek replied holding her tightly.

"Derek, you can't leave your pack. Besides, you have a mate in the other room that needs you right now. Yeah, don't think I don't know, I could easily tell. Besides, there's something you should know.. about Elena."

"What?" Derek asked, fearing the worst.

"She's recruited three more Alpha's to her pack Derek.. and they're stronger than you can ever imagine."

"Do you know their names?" he asked.

"We both do.. She recruited Ennis, Deucalion, and Kali." Cora replied, as Derek's face contorted into one of pure horror.
