Hey sorry about the late update. My mind is all over the place.

Kira didn't speak again after asking Splinter how long she had slept. In fact she seemed to be off in her own little world, completely forgetting that the rest of them was there as Don walked over to a table and pulled out several things to take some of her blood with. Hoping that he could figure out why her body had managed to heal itself in such a short amount of time when it should have taken so much longer.

Walking back over to the bed, Don tapped Raph and Leo on the shoulders- indicating that they should move and waited for them to comply while they murmered to Kira about how happy they were that she was okay and then stepped back away from her. Leaving her sitting there alone with her eyes suddenly on him as he moved forward and set his things down and gave her a hesitant smile.

"What are you doing?" Kira demanded in a tone that Don and the others were surprised by. It was such an authoritative tone that he almost started to stammer out an answer when he caught her eyes and felt the bottom drop out of his stomach when they changed- it was just for a split second- but it was enough to scare the hell out of him.

Those weren't the eyes of a human...

They were the eyes of a monster. Crimson with slitted pupils. Intelligent. Cunning... And so-so very ruthless.

They left him feeling as if he had been stripped bare of any and all weapons, physical, mental- leaving him feeling vulnerable and unprotected to the point where he nearly screamed and shrank back in fear when he heard Kira's voice in his mind, whispering softly.

Damn, I shouldn't have done that- You're looking like you're about to burst into tears or something.

"W-What?" Don croaked aloud as he blinked his eyes at the slight insult. He was not about to burst into tears! Especially not with Raph, Leo and Master Splinter standing off to the side watching him and Kira with peculiar expressions on their faces. If he did, he knew they'd never let him live it down.

Yeah well just so you know- I won't let you live it down either. Kira spoke to him again in his mind. Making him wonder if he was imagining everything until he heard her snort and say, Call it what you want, but this is reality. You saw my eyes change, and I am speaking to you telepathically. And before you muck things up and speak out loud again and give me away, I'll answer the muli million dollar question buzzing around in your head... I don't know how it happens, or why, but from time to time I can establish links with others who's mind patterns are similar in ways to my own. I imagine it's because your a mutant that I can speak to you this way."

Don titled his head to the side a little bit as he took in the information then after debating for a moment decided to try speaking with her in the same way.

"Others?" He questioned curiously, wondering how many times she had done this. Kira nodded her head slowly and opened up her mind a little more and let him see her memories. Don made a pained hissing sound as Kira quickly apologized and took the pain away while letting him see everything through her eyes.

The first few weeks of her birth, she didn't know where she was. Merely that it was dark and the crystals embedded in the walls shone with a silvery radiance. She hadn't been able to walk at first. Her body was aging at an abnormal rate that caused the bones to break, heal, reshape then start all over again in an agonizing process that seemed as if it would never end.

Then finally it had. And she had felt so much relief that she had both laughed and cried at the same time as she climbed unsteadily to her feet and hobbled over the underground doorway and after grabbing a few of the crystals out of the walls, started to make her way up aboveground.

It was raining when she reached aboveground. And there was ice forming on the tips of her hair it was so cold. She had difficulty at first maintaining her normal body heat. She was so weak with hunger and the cold that the trek into the nearest town had almost killed her.

She had forgotten how many times she had collapsed while trying to find a safe warm place with food. If not for her ability to regenerate so quickly- she had no doubt that she would be a rotting corpse by now-

The memories cut off from there and Don blinked his eyes only to find his father and brothers all standing over him with concerned looks on their faces as he groaned and rubbed at his aching head. His skull felt like it had just had an ax or two dozen embedded in it. But even so, he somehow managed to mutter under his breath about several things that he had discovered about his new baby sister.

1) She definitely wasn't human. 2) Since she had been born underground somewhere then it was safe to assume that the humans she had led them too the night they had met her weren't her biological parents. 3) She could speak telepathically. And Share her memories.

All that was left was to ask what he needed to know.

After taking a moment to catch his breath, he looked at her and asked aloud, "What are you?"

Kira stared at him and his family for a heartbeat then shrugged her slender shoulders before saying in a low tone, "Something very, very old."
